"There is a wrestler by the name of Drew Gulak, and I'm going to go ahead and tell you I think he sucks. He does a grizzled old vet routine, he hasn't done anything or made any money anywhere, and he shouldn't be doing that routine.
"He looked at me from his table, and frustrated and jealous, because there were people in line at my table - hell they might have been in line just for the pizza - says to me, 'So that's what you need to get over', and he walks away in a total huff and temper tantrum.
"Since then that guy is on my list. 100%. I will regularly text Ethan Page just to tell him how much I think Drew Gulak sucks."

Well, I will take that. Soldier Ant was one of my favorites in Chikara, but I also loved Little Mondo and he turned out to be a serious piece of shit.
Curious how fast the stories start to leak out. And if Ronda was right about him being a sexual deviant like his brother.

I never really understood why he was in WWE in the first place. I never " get " those types of gimmicks either. If you're such a good " wrestler " then why do you lose so much and work at the bottom of the industry? Exactly, that’s why I can’t really get into FTR or Dolph Ziggler that much when the gimmick is = I’m a good wrestler. You’re in the top companies in the world from a kayfabe perspective you’re all good wrestlers 🤷🏻♀️.

I never really understood why he was in WWE in the first place. I never " get " those types of gimmicks either. If you're such a good " wrestler " then why do you lose so much and work at the bottom of the industry? Gulak was a by-product of the Cruiserweight Open, which was another attempt by the WWE to capitilise on the indie boom. 205 Live would have to go down as one of the worst concepts the WWE ever came up with, but Gulak was actually one of the few highlights on the show and his Damien Sandow esque shtick with the Powerpoint Presentations and No Fly Zone stuff meshed well with the WWE. When that went away he had enough friends in high places and was doing enough favours training celebrities to extend his stay.
I didn't mind the No Quarter Catch Crew. Sure, it was the Wish.com version of the Blackpool Combat Club but as a way to get Charlie Dempsey, Myles Borne and Damon Kemp on TV it served a role and wasn't the worst foot in the door.
It could be worse, they could have been male cheerleaders.
I don't mind mixing the vets in with the younger talent. Otherwise you're in a situation where the blind is leading the blind and nobody is learning anything. Otherwise, you really ought to have some charisma, especially when you're on global television ala Shawn and Bret who had that gimmick but obviously had more going for them.
I agree on the whole 'vanilla midget' criticism, yet I also recognise how lazy it is to put it together. I still remember creating my own version of the No Quarter Catch Crew in Val Venis, Charlie Haas, Kenny Dykstra and some other wrestlers I'm forgetting about (possibly Vladimir Kozlov?) in 2008.

He almost certainly going to AEW. If not on TV, to work in the back. Not be shocked if he wrestles too. His did a great feud with my bubby a few years back that saw Jimmy Hart, David Arquette and Matt Taven all get involved.
But not be bad for Tony to have someone like him in the back that did run a territory.

I say this as a super huge fan of the man. It’s 2024, I have no desire to see a 74 year old Jerry Lawler in a wrestling ring.

That is what I thought, then he was great in NEW. Not saying use him for a full time run, but using him here or there could be fun.

MJF once he returns will further fan the fires of being Miz 2.0 by taking on Lawler on the mic & in the ring, arguably in a squash match on Dynamite. Age difference/underage jokes galore.

Question really is does King want to keep working, or is he finally ready to walk away from it all at 74. If he wants to work, a lot of feds will gladly take him and find somewhere to put him to use. Not sure how he is post his last stroke, but he did work my friend after his first one.
Not sure his financial state, but dude works constantly. He is always doing signings, and still work several times a year in the ring. That is on top of the WWE cash.

Endeavor ain't down with Lawlermania... Meaning endeavor ain't down with me. Disrespecting The King at any time is bad. Disrespecting The King during Lawlermania season is unforgivable.

Steve Rubin who has been an executive for 26 years with the company has been fired. Ric Flair seems to be really upset and put WWE on blast for the release. Wonder if the company will consider since he is Ric Flair or if this will continue to put a strain on the relationship. Flair continues not to hold back. “This Is The Worst Professional Move I’ve Ever Seen In My Entire Life To Let Go Of A Man Who Was So Generous And Good, Who Accommodated Everyone Including Me And My Family, And My World Of Friends. God Bless You Steve Rubin! I’m So Sorry!” www.ringsidenews.com/2024/05/11/ric-flair-blasts-wwe-for-steve-rubin-firing-worst-professional-move-ive-ever-seen/

WWE will be run now as a modern business. The days of the old loyal family friend getting a lifetime job are over. If someone can you your job better or for less cash you are out.
