Been thinking about John Cena's story happening the past little while and I really like it. I'm assuming they'll have him beat someone at Wrestlemania to say "Cena is back!" but I think it would be great if they drew it out over the summer and it ended with Cena winning Championship #17.
The Universal Championship needs to "get over." Finn Balor won it and had to give it up right away because of an injury, so things didn't start great. Then they put the belt on Kevin Owens and that was good but a lot of people forgot about that reign (me included). Then he got squashed by Goldberg and a lot of people were left sour, then the Lesnar/Goldberg feud made the belt feel like an afterthought, and now Lesnar has been holding it forever and is barely on TV.
I feel the best way to do "reboot" the title and make it mean something would be to have John Cena break the record by winning it, and he should win it off of Brock Lesnar in a brutal battle at Summerslam, the very PPV where Lesnar dominated Cena and made him look foolish just a few years ago.
Everyone expects Reigns to win at Wrestlemania, so losing to Lesnar would be considered a swerve. Lesnar is still the fucking Champ and everyone is like "oh, what? Still? Alright...well, it isn't Reigns at least..."
John Cena has this "I'm old and not the man I once was," story going, and we don't even know how he's going to end up at Wrestlemania. There's a lot of speculation about him facing The Undertaker, which is whatever, but when Cena wins that match that should be the beginning to his redemption, not the end.
On the Raw after Wrestlemania, Heyman is doing Heyman things with Lesnar beside him, and Cena interrupts, surprising the fans. He gives Heyman the "fine speech," treatment and addresses the fans, saying that his victory last night was only the beginning. He has a long road ahead and that road doesn't end until he breaks the record for most Championship wins. He says that after rebounding last night, he realizes he has a lot left in the tank (shout out to Mark Henry) and he wants to win #17 in a big way. Stare down with Lesnar.
Cena signs with Raw on the condition he gets a #1 Contender's shot, fights whoever at Backlash to win the #1 Contendership.
At MITB he faces Lesnar but whoever wins the Raw MITB cashes in or inserts themselves in the match, then gets pinned by Lesnar. Lesnar escapes with his title.
Cena argues he should still be #1 Contender, Angle says shit happens but he'll give him one last shot because he doesn't want to see John Cena's illustrious career end that way.
Cena beats Reigns on Raw to be #1 Contender at Summerslam, beats Lesnar in a brutal fight, holds the Universal Championship up high.
Let him hold it until the Royal Rumble where he puts someone over before going part-time.

I saw a fan made trailer a few days ago for WWE: Infinity War. Lesnar was Thanos, and it basically showed the babyfaces battling heels, with cuts of viciousness from Lesnar, eventually building to a WWE Avengers v Lesnar showdown.
I'm thinking, after finally seeing WM. Who could possibly take the title from Brock? Sensing whoever it is, will need a degree of credibility and physicality to match Lesnar. I think half the reason why Reigns is continually thrown at Brock, is this perception Reigns is a badass.
Really there's no one to match Brock one on one.
So the only thing I could suggest is the stack the odds against Lesnar again, say Brock v Balor v Rollins v Strowman v Reigns v Owens and they isolate the champ, eventually, after Brock destroys them all and finally one of them gets the pin on anyone other than Brock. Lesnar goes away for a few months, doesn't directly take on the pin fall and he can return to working marquee matches outside of the title picture.

As fast as I’m concerned, let Daniel Bryan win the Rumble, switch brands and be the one to take him down at wrestleMania. The whole "how should Daniel Bryan be booked?" question has been on my mind since he announced his comeback. And no matter what I think of, everything points to exactly what Jeff said. As of now, with the title pictures the way they are and the fact that Daniel Bryan stayed on Smackdown... (I'm just booking Daniel Bryan's path to the title here, ignoring Raw for now. If Brock Lesnar holds on to the title for another year, it doesn't really matter does it? I'm more interested in the IC title as far as Raw goes anyway (FINN NEEDS TO WIN IT)). Backlash-Shinsuke Nakamura wins the WWE Championship with heel tactics (low blow, I guess). -Daniel Bryan defeats Big Cass. Money in the Bank-AJ Styles cashes in his rematch clause and Paige backs him up by saying that if Shinsuke uses a low blow any time during the match, he'll be stripped of the title should he retain. Shinsuke retains anyway, then low blows AJ post-match for good measure. -Daniel Bryan wins the Smackdown MITB. Extreme Rules-Shinsuke Nakamura defends against The Miz in a No DQ, who won a #1 Contendership match on Smackdown. -The Miz enlists the help of Big Cass, who beats the shit out of Shinsuke Nakamura before and during the match. -Daniel Bryan decides this is bullshit and hits the ring, knocking Cass out cold. Shinsuke retains, Bryan teases a cash-in but doesn't go for it. Miz is pissed. Build to Summerslam-AJ Styles is annoyed that Daniel Bryan helped Shinsuke Nakamura after all he did to him. Bryan explains that he initially went down there because he saw an opportunity to cash-in, but things didn't go as planned. Styles decides to believe Bryan for now. -Meanwhile Miz is furious and demands a rematch. Paige decides that Miz has a good point and will put this Daniel Bryan/The Miz nonsense to bed once and for all: at Summerslam, Daniel Bryan will put his MITB briefcase on the line against The Miz, but if The Miz loses, he can't challenge for the WWE Championship as long as Shinsuke Nakamura is Champion. Summerlsam-Daniel Bryan defeats The Miz and holds on to the MITB briefcase. -Shinsuke Nakamura loses the title back to AJ Styles who gets another match because reasons. -Daniel Bryan cashes in, but The Miz fucks him over and Styles escapes Summerslam with the title. Post-Summerslam-The Miz and AJ Styles go on to feud over the WWE Championship -We finally get Daniel Bryan vs. Shinsuke Nakamura at some point because it has to happen (do it at Hell in a Cell or TLC or whatever SD PPV there is before Survivor Series) Survivor SeriesTeam Smackdown (AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, Shinsuke Nakamura, The Miz & Randy Orton) vs. Team Raw (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn) Team Raw wins because they're able to co-exist better and because The Shield. Clash of ChampionsSince this is another dual-brand event, Daniel Bryan lays down an open challenge to any Raw superstar that wants to fight him. Samoa Joe answers the call and it's dope as hell. Royal RumbleDaniel Bryan wins the Royal Rumble. Final four are Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman. Joe and Reigns eliminate Strowman, Joe eliminates Reigns, Bryan eliminates Joe. From there, Daniel Bryan decides to challenge Brock Lesnar and they build to the dream fight of the century.

The reality? Braun wins the Rumble and loses at WrestleMania to Brock. I hate this but you're probably right. I have a feeling John Cena will be the one to beat Brock and break the record I wouldn't be upset by this. Cena should break the record in a big way. I've thought for a while now that he should be working a "redemption" angle. -Can't get in to Wrestlemania to save his life. -calls out Taker. -Taker kills him. -Cena decides to chase the record. -wins a few meaningless matches to get a streak going. -Old Super Cena starts to come back. -big feud with someone high up that leads to a #1 contenders match (Reigns, Braun, etc) -CENAWINSLOL -defeats Brock for the title -Taker vs Cena 2 at WM35 for the Universal title

So yeah, if the WWE has any sense, Riddle will debut in WWE by confronting Lesnar during Summerslam. Either alongside an appearance at Takeover, or separate.

The Ringmaster: Master of the Ring
Part One: 1996
*Crossposting this from The Ringmaster thread in History of Wrestling The Ringmaster's early WWF career path, and I'm talking the first year+, doesn't deviate all that much from Stone Cold's real life career arc. The big difference will be in character/style. He still debuts January 8, 1996 as the Crown Jewel of Ted Dibiase's Million Dollar Corporation. During those first few months he doesn't have much of a character of his own. He's basically just Dibiase's henchman who happens to be really good at scientific wrestling and wears Dibiase's old vanity title while utilizing "The Million Dollar Man's" old Million Dollar Dream finisher. Royal Rumble- Has a strong showing, lasting over 20 minutes and eliminating a few wrestlers. Makes the final 6 before being eliminated by Shawn Michaels. January-February TV- Remains undefeated with "big" wins over Aldo Montoya and Bob Holly. IYH February- Defeats the departing Hakushi. We get a taste of what Ringmaster is all about when Hakushi flies around the ring and Ringmaster simply moves out of the way. This is a thinking man's wrestler. February-March TV- Remains undefeated with "big" wins over Fatu & Marty Jannetty before facing his toughest test to date when he needs to cheat to defeat Savio Vega. Savio is not happy about this. It leads to a rematch at Wrestlemania. Wrestlemania- Ringmaster successfully defends the Million Dollar Championship by once again cheating to defeat Savio Vega. March-April TV- Defeats The Dumpster in his "big" tv match of the month. Savio wants another rematch. Dibiase & Ringmaster decline since Savio already failed in two attempts to defeat The Ringmaster. So Savio brings in his masked friend, The Caribbean Kid, to wrestle for him at IYH April. IYH April- The Caribbean Kid ends Ringmaster's undefeated streak in an upset. The story here is Ringmaster is a thinking man's wrestler who studies footage of all his opponents. Since he had no footage to study he was caught off guard by the Caribbean Kid. This is the first time we've ever seen Ringmaster get flustered. Even during his previous matches with Savio he remained cool, calm, and collected. The fact that Ringmaster (and Dibiase) thought Savio might be Caribbean Kid without knowing for sure also threw him off guard. Post-match sees Ringmaster & Dibiase beat down and unmask the Caribbean Kid. It turns out to be Savio Vega! Ringmaster and Dibiase are more upset than ever at the pesky Vega. April-May TV- Ringmaster takes his anger out on poor Barry Horowitz in a squash. Now it's Ringmaster who wants a match with Savio. Only this time around the tables are turned when Savio is all like "Nah. I already beat you." So Dibiase is forced to put stakes on the line. If Savio wins, he becomes Million Dollar Champion and Dibiase must leave the WWF. If Ringmaster wins, Savio becomes their servant. At some point the Million Dollar Duo whips Savio with Dibiase's belt. This leads to a Strap Match stipulation. IYH May- Savio Vega upsets Ringmaster in a Strap Match to force Ted Dibiase out of WWF in a good **** match. *It's here where The Ringmaster really starts to develop a character of his own. I watched a lot of Ringmaster/early Stone Cold to get a feel for his character. This promo does a good job of summing up what The Ringmaster is all about. Ringmaster will still continue to have more or less the same trajectory as Stone Cold did in real life. The major difference lies in character/style. Stone Cold was an angry, foul mouthed, loose cannon. Ringmaster is more cold and calculating. Think 91-92 Jake The Snake. When The Ringmaster initially debuted in real life, before he ever wrestled a match, I imagined his wrestling style to be basically Dean Malenko- a guy who will dazzle you with a thousand kewl moves and fancy holds. Well, we all know Austin wasn't that kind of wrestler even in his "technical" days. So that's out of the question..... I used to spend a lot of time on a site called Kayfabe Memories in 2000-2001. That's where I first learned a lot about 80s territorial wrestling. That site was a fountain of information. But their message board was mostly just a bunch of Johnny Valentine vs. Wahoo McDaniel fanfic. They had a name for Johnny Valentine's (and his son Greg's) wrestling style. "Scientifically rough" they called it. THAT'S the Ringmaster. He's not going to wow you with a thousand kewl cool moves a la Malenko. He's going to punch you in the mouth. Then make you submit. There's a big difference between the two. May-August TV- This is where Ringmaster really gets established as a character. He admits to throwing the Strap Match against Savio so he could be rid of "that anchor" Ted Dibiase. Now he becomes the company's resident submission expert. Ringmaster doesn't have one go to hold. He wins with a different submission just about every time out to show what a technical wizard he is. Nor does he focus on a single body part. Sometimes it's the arm. Other times the leg. Next time it might be the back, neck, whatever. And he takes advantage of mistakes. Miss a knee drop and he works the leg. Ram a shoulder into a post and your arm is toast. He'll win with fancy, "new" fangled submissions like the Texas Cloverleaf and this "stunning" maneuver.... Or beat you with old fashioned moves like the Figure Four and Boston Crab. Against smaller jobbers it might be the Full Nelson, Torture Rack, or even the lowly Bearhug. The Crossface Chickenwing is also in his repertoire. As is the Camel Clutch. The Indian Death Lock is known to him. He also busts out a Regal Stretch here and there as an homage to his old travelling buddy down in Atlanta. Whenever a cool new submission hold pops up on WCW or ECW tv you can count on The Ringmaster to use it the following week on Raw or Superstars. If a submission hold exists, The Ringmaster knows, and has perfected it. He focuses mainly on submission holds with a history in the company since they're already known and respected by WWF fans. Maybe it's even The Ringmaster who popularizes the concept of tapping in mainstream US wrestling. For months the one popular hold The Ringmaster eschews is the Million Dollar Dream. This comes into play later.... KOTR- More than any other event else this establishes Ringmaster as WWF's resident technical wizard/submission expert. He wins all four of his KOTR matches ( Bart Gunn, Savio Vega, Marc Mero, Jake Roberts) with four different submission holds. Yet Ringmaster 3:16 does NOT become a thing. Nor does Ringmaster care about all that royal regalia. He's just all like "This proves I'm the best. Now bring me stiffer competition." *The Savio KOTR match was also for the Million Dollar Title. Ringmaster won it back and it was never mentioned again. IYH July- Defeats Marc Mero in a KOTR rematch. Mero misses the Wild Thing (which debuts a little earlier in this universe) and tweaks his knee. Ringmaster capitalizes for yet another submission victory. Sable's feminine charms had absolutely no effect on The Ringmaster. The man is all business. Summerslam- Defeats former two time WWF World Heavyweight Champion Yokozuna when Yoko falls, breaking the ropes while attempting a Banzai Drop. Ringmaster doesn't waste time going for a submission. He just covers him for the flash three count. That's another thing about Ringmaster. He don't get paid by the hour. If he sees an opening, he seizes it. The idea is that a Ringmaster match can end at any time. So fans become conditioned that any hold or pin attempt can conclude a Ringmaster match. This makes them hot even for rest holds or "B Move" two counts as potential near falls. Back to the actual match....Yeah, this happened in real life, but it was confined to the pre-show and glossed over when I think it should have been a much bigger deal. I mean here you have your hot young heel beating a two time former WWF Champion who main evented consecutive Wrestlemania's in under two minutes. THAT'S A BIG DEAL! Push it as such. August-November TV- Ringmaster is tired of beating "lesser talent" (which he continues to do on Superstars & Raw). He wants some REAL competition. He wants Shawn Michaels and (especially) Bret Hart. He also gets a new ally in... BRIAN F'N PILLMAN! Pillman now serves as Ringmaster's mouthpiece/hypeman. He's an obnoxious little shit stirrer. He'll get the babyfaces all riled up. Then Ringmaster will snap an arm or a leg as they gave chase. The idea here is to create a Taz/Fonzie dynamic while also leading to something big down the road. Ringmaster is cold, calculating, stoic, even subdued by wrestling standards. While Pillman is a loud, brash, obnoxious loose cannon..."out there" even by wrestling standards. It's an odd couple that just works. IYH September- Beats a slumping Hunter Hearst Helmsley in a rare heel vs. heel match when he debuts his version of.... THE SHARPSHOOTER! Aww shit! It's on now. The Sharpshooter becomes Ringmaster's primary offensive weapon over the next few months as he ramps up the Bret call outs. IYH October- Woo hoo! Ringmaster in the main event at last! KITN challenge complete! Unless.... Well, it IS Ringmaster's biggest match to date as he wrestles WWF Champion(?) Shawn Michaels. BUT... In my fanfic Vader was champ by this time. And Undertaker/Mankind Buried Alive would PROBABLY main event over this anyway..... Especially given the weak finish. Neither guy can afford to take a fall at this point. Things get chippy after 20 minutes of **** action. Pillman interferes when Michaels is going for SCM. The ex-Hollywood Blondes beat down Michaels after the match. This ends with Ringmaster locking Michaels in the dreaded Sharpshooter. October TV- Bret f'n Hart returns! And he wants The Ringmaster! Survivor Series- Bret Hart defeats Ringmaster in their real life match (aside from the "broken glass" bit since there is nothing "cool" about The Ringmaster). Anyway, this is obviously an all time classic. Ringmaster is so determined/desperate to beat Bret that he breaks the Million Dollar Dream out of the mothballs for the first time since May. Bret reverses it for the three count. It wasn't a decisive win but it was a win for "The Hitman." Ringmaster suffers his first defeat since May, which just so happens to be the last time he used The Dream. Moral of the story: Don't use the Million Dollar Dream. November-December TV- Biggest character development period for Ringmaster since May-June. Raw 11/18- The post-Survivor Series Raw opens with Ringmaster & Pillman holding the show hostage. They're PISSED. Ringmaster shows more emotion than he ever has before. At one point it even appears as if he is going to attack his beloved hypeman. Even Pillman is nervous. Ringmaster isn't leaving until he gets Bret. Instead he gets Jake. Jake is not a fan of Ringmaster's poor sportsmanship. He also has a score to settle with Ringmaster since he never got a rematch after losing in the KOTR final. Ringmaster just wants to whoop some ass so he's like "Bring it, old man." Ringmaster is pissed. He shows this by toying with a clearly outgunned old man Jake in a torturous manner. He'll lock in a leg submission. Then transition to an arm submission just as Jake is about to tap. And vice versa. Ringmaster enjoys this sadistic behavior. But you don't play with a snake! After a rare Ringmaster mistake (see, because he's still hot about his loss to Bret last night) Jake hits a flash DDT for the shocking upset. Jake may be huffing and puffing but he still celebrates like he just won the Super Bowl. And let the man celebrate! Since this the last big win of note in his storied career. Pillman tries getting Ringmaster to attack Jake but Ringmaster just storms off in a huff. Raw 11/25- Ringmaster is not at Raw and nobody has heard from him in a week. Pillman comes out acting like everything is fine but he's clearly just pretending. He has no more of a clue as to The Ringmaster's whereabouts than anybody else. Raw 12/2- Ringmaster randomly calls in during a lower card match. Submission wrestling is all fine and dandy but he learned a lesson from his losses to Bret and Jake. Sometimes submissions aren't enough. You need a quick striking move that can score you that 1-2-3 out of nowhere. So Ringmaster has been travelling the world to learn that ONE special maneuver that will make him unbeatable. He's been to the Snake Pit in England and the Dojo's of Japan. He traveled to India to train with the last living disciples of the Great Gama. This past week he showed up unannounced at the Hart Dungeon to get some pointers from Owen Hart & British Bulldog (with whom he & Pillman have had a loose alliance with for a while now). And at last he has found it....the one hold that will make him unbeatable. And he will be debuting it next week right here on Monday Night Raw. He also challenges Bret Hart to a rematch at IYH December. Bret accepts. Raw 12/9- Ringmaster squashes Jake The Snake in 10 seconds when he debuts his new hold. Full play by play treatment: Kick, wham.... STUNNER!!! The Ringmaster is complete. IYH December- Ringmaster scores the biggest win of his career when he pins Bret Hart at the 25 minute mark with the Stunner. Neither man could make the other submit despite many, many submission attempts. Shawn Michaels, who has a grudge against both men, interfered when the ref was down to chase off an interfering Brian Pillman. Then he "accidentally" Superkicked Bret. The ref came to. 1-2-NO! Bret is up at 2.9. A minute or so later Bret went for another Sharpshooter attempt. Ringmaster kicked Bret off into an exposed turnbuckle (Pillman removed the pad early in the match). Bret stumbled back right into the STUNNER for a shocking 1-2-3. Ringmaster has even things up at 1-1. *In my aborted "Rebooking the New Generation" fanfic I had an AWESOME Austin/Vader/Mankind "Battle of the Bullies"/"Tough Man Challenge" heel 3 Way planned for this show with Austin winning. The storyline was whatever but it was one of the matches I was most looking forward to writing. I hated having to drop it here but felt like I had to for Bret/Ringmaster long term story I'm telling. Sadly, I don't think it will be in the cards down the road. So I just felt like mentioning it here. Year End AwardsRingmaster finished in the WON and RSPW Top 5 in the "Best Gimmick" and "Best Technical Wrestler" categories. He was also a Top 10 finisher in the "Reader's Favorite Wrestler" category. The Bret/Ringmaster Survivor Series classic was a Top 5 finisher in "Best Matches" while their IYH December rematch finished in the Top 10. Ringmaster/Michaels at IYH October and Ringmaster/Savio also got vote in the "Best Matches" category. While Ringmaster's hypeman Brian Pillman fared well in the "Best on Interviews" and "Best Gimmick" categories.
*To be continued.....

After last night's Shield Reunion 3.0, I had some thoughts...
Roman Reigns is almost definitely holding the Universal title until Wrestlemania. After building up Braun Strowman so much, it's going to be really hard to have him cash-in and not win the title without making it look like they just built him up so they could feed him to Roman Reigns. They either need to feed a few contenders to Reigns before Strowman faces him one-on-one, or they need to make Strowman look strong in a loss (which they almost never pull off), or they need to do something else entirely.
Also a certain tag team champion has injured himself again.
Also a certain former tag team champion is once again without something to do.
...
-Shield reunites to fuck up Braun Strowman. -Strowman says he doesn't care about Roman's pals, they'll all get these hands. -They do not get these hands, they keep powerbombing Strowman through tables. -Strowman realizes he's finally met his match as Ambrose, Rollins & Reigns constantly thwart his cash-in attempts. -Strowman announces his cash-in for a Hell in a Cell match against Roman Reigns to keep his buddies from interfering, and he can have Reigns all to himself.
-Hell in a Cell comes around and The Shield are there in support. -The cage breaks open because obviously. -Rollins and Ambrose decide it's powerbomb time. -Lights go out. -DEH! -Lights come back on and Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper are in the ring (Rowan is hurt but maybe he's there too, just doesn't get involved). -Dual-branded PPV so this shit is legit. -Strowman laughs and it's an all-out war between the two stables.
-The Wyatt Family gain the upperhand and Braun Strowman goes to pin Reigns. -Bray Wyatt stops him, and after some confusion the family leaves. -Becomes clear that Harper and Rowan are back under Bray's spell (or never left it) and Strowman is the odd man out, but listens to his leader. -Match is ruled a no contest and Reigns retains, even though him and his hound bros are almost dead.
-Bray Wyatt is alone on Raw and explains his actions. -He knows the Universal title will only weaken The Shield, tear them apart, make them turn on one another. -Some things are more important than gold around your waist. He knows from experience. -"SIERRA. HOTEL..." -The Shield surround the ring and it's go time. -They storm the ring but the lights go out as they do. -When they come back on, The Shield are alone in the ring and we can just hear Bray Wyatt's laughter over the sound system.
-Roman Reigns defends the Universal title against Kevin Owens in Australia. Reigns retains.
-Time goes by and we start to forget about the Wyatt Family, but the fans are restless because their weekly dose of BRAUUUUNNNN has been taken away. -Sometime in October (because Halloween), Bray Wyatt starts up his mind games again. -It's a slow burn but the mind games become more and more intense. -The Shield are trying to focus on whoever Roman's next challenger is going to be, but they can't shake the Wyatts.
-A Fatal Fourway match is held on Raw to decide who will face Roman Reigns at Survivor Series. -Finn Balor, Kevin Owens & Elias are in the ring, waiting on the fourth opponent. -BRAAAAAUUUUUNNNN -Braun Strowman returns to a huge pop. Bray Wyatt is alongside him with his lantern and pointing at the ring, a la Paul Bearer. -Wyatt cackles as Braun Strowman tears apart his opponents. He's absolutely relentless. Something about him is even more intense. -Strowman doesn't even win the match. He just beats the shit out of everyone then calls out Roman Reigns. -The Shield enter and storm the ring, but once again the lights go out and this time both Bray and Braun disappear.
-Acting GM Baron Corbin says he's putting an end to this. -Survivor Series will be The Wyatt Family vs. The Shield.
-Survivor Series main event is Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman and Luke Harper (Rowan is still hurt or left out, whatever). -Amazing main event, great match, ends with Braun pinning Roman Reigns.
-From there, Braun Strowman vows to win the Royal Rumble and beat Roman Reigns on the grandest stage of them all. -Bray Wyatt reminds us that The Shield will implode on itself so long as Roman holds the gold.
-Bray Wyatt's premonition comes true at the Royal Rumble. -The Shield say all along that they're indestructible. -But during the Royal Rumble match, after Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins work together to eliminate Strowman, they find themselves the final two in the match. -Bray Wyatt is there to help Braun Strowman to his feet, laughing a hearty laugh as Rollins and Ambrose look on from the ring. -One of them will have to win, the other will have to be on the sidelines at the greatest stage of them all.

BREAKING: Mustafa Ali removed from Elimination Chamber match; no replacement announced yet. After the news broke yesterday that Mustafa Ali wouldn't be participating in the WWE Elimination Chamber match, an announcement about a replacement was expected on tonight's Smackdown. But, surprisingly, with Shane McMahon focused on his new found friendship with The Miz, and Triple H, Stephanie and Vince wrapped up in Becky Lynch's drama, no announcement was made and it appears the authority figures have forgot. But not Daniel Bryan. He announced that he was campaigning for a truly deserving person to be in the chamber in Mustafa Ali's place: his protege, Erick Rowan. He says that an inspired and truly worthy individual like him should be in there, but of course that drew out AJ Styles and the rest, accusing Daniel Bryan of being afraid and trying to stack the odds in his favour. A fight broke out, Bryan and Rowan scurried away, and nothing else came of it. So what will happen with Elimination Chamber just days away? Who will step into the pod? Drawing the short straws, Daniel Bryan & AJ Styles begin the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship. One pod sits empty, the pod that was meant for Mustafa Ali before he was pulled from the match due to an injury, and no replacement was named in his absence.
After the timer expires, the next entrant is Randy Orton, who begins to double team AJ Styles with Daniel Bryan, but that's short-lived. Orton takes it to the champ and does his best to eliminate him early, but is unsuccessful in guaranteeing a new champion.
The timer expires again and this time, the spotlight lands on the empty pod. The crowd isn't sure what to think, until the lights go out. For a moment the fans roar, curious as to what the surprise is, and then the spotlight comes back on to illuminate the pod and we see Luke Harper standing in the eerie light!
Erick Rowan looks on in shock from ringside. Daniel Bryan can't believe his eyes either. Luke Harper's hair and beard are as crazed as ever and he glares through the glass at the men in the ring. He's back in his torn jeans and white tank top, and has a red flannel shirt tied around his waist. The pod opens and Harper goes straight after Randy Orton, pummeling him into the ground. He then gets up and when Orton rises he hits his spinning Lariat finisher and then points at Daniel Bryan, who applies the Crossface and makes Orton tap out.
Eliminated: Randy Orton
The duo then continue their onslaught by attacking AJ Styles. The double team continues until Samoa Joe enters and is forced to go against his instincts and even the odds by helping AJ Styles if he wants to stand a chance in this match. This continues until Jeff Hardy enters, but when he and for a while it's 3 vs 2.
But that doesn't last as Samoa Joe sees an opening to get an elimination and tries to take out AJ Styles. He fails and is clocked by Luke Harper with a vicious blindsided big boot, then spins directly into a Busaiku knee strike from Daniel Bryan. Joe is out cold and Daniel Bryan eliminates him.
Eliminated: Samoa Joe
During this, Jeff Hardy is on his feet and could make the save, but he chooses not to. Instead he climbs on top of a pod and waits, for the elimination, then spins off the pod with a Whisper in the Wind, landing hard on Luke Harper and knocking him out. Hardy covers but Daniel Bryan breaks it up by dragging Jeff Hardy's leg and putting him in a calf crusher. AJ Styles, still out cold on the metal surrounding the ring, is of no use, and Jeff Hardy can't escape the submission. He's forced to tap or lose a leg.
Eliminated: Jeff Hardy
Now it's the 2-on-1 final that Daniel Bryan was hoping for when he supported Erick Rowan entering the match. Daniel Bryan got his wish in the form of Rowan's long-time tag team partner. He and Luke Harper work over AJ Styles, but they just can't put him away. Styles eventually gets an opening when he hits a Pele kick on Daniel Bryan, then dodges a spinning Lariat from Luke Harper and gives him the same treatment. Styles drags himself to the ropes and climbs a pod, and as Harper gets to his feet, Styles comes off with a Phenomenal Forearm to end all Phenomenal Forearms. He gets the pin before Daniel Bryan can break it up!
Eliminated: Luke Harper
It's now one-on-one and Daniel Bryan grabs a handful of AJ Styles' hair right after he gets the elimination. Both men are exhausted after starting the match but Bryan has the clear edge after getting some unexpected support. He sends Styles into the ropes and tries to put him away with a Busaiku knee, but Styles dodges it and slams Bryan into the canvas. Styles falls to his knees and drags himself to the ropes, trying to get the Phenomenal Forearm set up, but when he tries to jump onto the ropes he collapses from exhaustion and just can't pull it off. Daniel Bryan immediately applies a Crossface and AJ Styles passes out, forcing the referee to stop the match.
Eliminated: AJ Styles
Daniel Bryan doesn't release the hold and Luke Harper and Erick Rowan immediately join him inside the chamber. When Bryan finally lets go, he shouts orders at them, although they didn't really need to hear it. They snatch Styles up immediately hit their elevated double powerbomb finisher, leaving AJ Styles lying unconscious in the ring as Daniel Bryan holds the WWE Championship above him.
To be cont'd...

Yeah so 🤯 already guess where I was going with that. It was pretty obvious anyway. -Luke Harper and Erick Rowan keep the title on Daniel Bryan until Wrestlemania. -John Cena emerges because he decides he wants to beat his loud-mouthed-almost-brother-in-law for his record-breaking title win. -Either Cena overcomes the odds or Daniel Bryan retains with the help of The New Harper & Rowan, doesn't really matter. -Daniel Bryan talks shit on Smackdown after Wrestlemania and Rowan and Harper turn on him, kicking his ass. -Bray Wyatt walks out and reveals he was the mastermind behind Rowan and Harper all along, and he's getting his title back. But with tonight's events, I got a new idea... -Daniel Bryan retains at the Elimination Chamber. -Kofi Kingston is the last person pinned. He ALMOST does the unthinkable, but he just can't put Daniel Bryan away. Rowan probably gets involved at some point too. -D-Bry talks shit on Smackdown again. -Kofi is given another shot at Fastlane for reasons, but this time, The New Day and Rowan are banned from ringside to avoid shenanigans. -Fastlane: Kofi has Daniel Bryan on the ropes but LUKE HARPER interferes and Daniel Bryan retains via DQ. -D-Bry talks shit on Smackdown again. -Kofi is so sure he can win the WWE title, he requests one last shot at Wrestlemania...and puts his career on the line. -Daniel Bryan (c) w/Haper & Rowan vs. Kofi Kingston w/Xavider Woods & Big E @ Wrestlemania Who says no?

Anyone find the promo for Fighting with my Family really weird. Why is the exec. producer on the poster? And why is it suggesting Paige isn't the dirty, brat of a kid that she is. It's strange. I hope there's the drugs, the teen pregnancy, the sextape - you know, reality.

No way in hell The Rock agrees to do a movie like that. And WWE aren’t going to smear one of their own.

One of my recent brain storming ideas was a Wrestling World Cup. 16 teams of 3 wrestlers. Knockout Tournament with the first round being a round robin - then I wasn't sure if I'd more to six-man tags or representatives for the later rounds. I still haven't decided on the best format but there would be infighting and storylines within the countries about who's the best and whatnot. But here's the teams I was going to go for:
USA: Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Cody Rhodes Canada: Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens Mexico: Dragon Lee, Bandido, Andrade Northern Ireland: Killian Dain, Finlay, Adam Maxted Republic of Ireland: Finn Balor, Jordan Devlin, Sheamus England: Tyler Bate, PAC, William Regal Scotland: Noam Dar, Wolfgang, Drew McIntyre Wales: Mark Andrews, Mason Ryan, Morgan Webster Japan: Kota Ibushi, KENTA, Shinsuke Nakamura Australia: Buddy Murphy, Robbie Eagles, Shane Thorne Germany: David Finally, Marcel Barthel, Alexander Wolfe India: The Great Khali, Hinder Mahal, Mahabali Shera New Zealand: Jay White, Travis Banks, Bad Luck Fale Puerto Rico: Punishment Martinez, Low Ki, Carlito South Africa: Angelicó, PJ Black, Adam Rose Wildcards: WALTER, Cesaro, Aleister Black

It’s been a long time since I watched any pro-wrestling, and even longer since I wrote anything. All of my notes have been shredded ages ago, so heavens know how many rubbish ideas are lost forever to the dustbin of history. Two, however, come to mind:
The first was going to be the backbone of the federation (I believe it was my 1.367th federation). I only remember two people of five who were involved: Chris Benoit and Katsuyori Shibata. They were two of my all-time favourite wrestlers, but the plan had to be discarded after the horrible events that ended Chris Benoit’s life. It had been so integral to the fed that I scrapped the entire thing.
The angle would play out over months (and, ideally, years) and was mainly based on a loose amalgamation and reinterpretation of two old AJPW ‘storylines’ that went on for over a decade: the Mitsuharu Misawa and Toshiaki Kawada VS Jumbo Tsuruta & Genichiro Tenryu angles, and the Misuharu Misawa and Kenta Kobashi VS Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue angles... with special focus on the Misawa/Tsuruta and Misawa/Kawada confrontations. At its core, they were respectively ‘old guard VS new breed’ and ‘good friends, better enemies/pure competition to see who’s the best of the new breed that devolves dangerously close to personal hatred’ stories, so they weren’t original or mind-blowing conceptually.
What was mind-blowing were the dozens of matches all those people involved had. Plus some other people on the sidelines too, who played small roles and provided excellent matches and fresh little twists in the angles. Obviously Chris Benoit would be part of the old guard and Katsuyori Shibata would be part of the new breed, but I don’t remember who the others were. Either William Regal or Kurt Angle on the old guard side, and KENTA on the new breed side. I just remembered I actually had KENTA and Katsuyori Shibata team up, which led to Shibata’s feud with Benoit. Harry Smith and TJ Wilson were also involved, but I don’t know if I’d slotted them into one of the upper-card positions.
Anyway, that was my ‘backbone angle’ for one fed. Nothing earth-shattering. Back then, Japanese pro-wrestling wasn’t nearly as well-known as it is today, and I was frustrated I could not geek out with anyone about those legendary matches with Tsuruta, Kawada, Kobashi etc. The story-telling and psychology in those matches were utterly fantastic, both as standalone matches and as new chapters in the forever-growing story that involved those wrestlers. I had hoped that writing those angles and matches would help transfer that excitement to other people. Sadly it was not to be.
The second idea I remember I can keep much shorter: wrestlers in a lockdown prison-like environment. That’s all. I have no idea where I was gonna go with that at all, but it seemed like a fun idea at the time. Oz with pro-wrestlers... but with less nudity and sexual assault.

I've been refreshing for days to get this moment right. My sleep cycle is warped, my wife is both worried and mad, my chair is soaked in my own excrement, the dogs have stopped approaching me for attention and my blood sugar is in the negatives... But, by God, it was worth it.

holzhammer, maybe you and fellow AJPW lover Emperor can do a split!!! And I fucking KNEW the lockdown concept was yours, not Spreutels. People here had me tripping, convinced there was no way you'd ever entertain such a wild concept. They must've forgot, you're the same cuckoo who split with The Kid at one point in time.

To be fair, the Lockdown concept wasn't mine. I believe it was a former WCW employee (one of their commentators, if memory serves) who'd written an article for the concept. I just Googled it to see if I could find it and, wouldn't you know, the very first result is my old Tripod website with the complete article: holzhammer0.tripod.com/FanFiction/Lockdown.htm

No, I was always referring to the concept that holzhammer was describing. Although, shit, you're right ;pretty sure Sproot did do a prison fed.

Daniel Bryan said in an interview recently that he thinks he’s done as a full time wrestler. He’s going on six weeks paternity leave, and his contract ends shortly after that, and he wants to transition to part time.
It gave me an idea of Daniel Bryan staying away until a part time contract is signed, then joining NXT to search for his own successor.
He could have some bangers with the guys on that roster, and he would only have to work 4-5 shows a month, and almost always in the same location.
Flip the switch and have him confront Johnny Gargano in the same way Finn Balor did, only Bryan is the face and Gargano is the heel. Maybe he starts there because he always thought Gargano would be his successor, but he sees his true colours now. Bryan can take the high road, because even when he was a heel, he wasn’t selfish. He was just telling it like it is, and trying to wake the people up. Gargano only cares about himself and what happened to him, everyone else be damned.
I don’t know who the successor ends up being, but he would get a handful of awesome feuds/matches and I think it would be cool to see him there with some creative freedom.
