Everything up to and including maybe Bret vs Benoit on that card taking place in the glow of outdoor daylight in Caesars Palace in Vegas is just what 1996 dreams are made of. Could you imagine?

Ten years ago today I posted ECW November To Remember 2001 on PW fan fic and I feel like it was really the biggest hit show on the sub in the time that I posted there from 2012 til the forum died in 2017. I won a ton of awards that year, MVP, Best Show, Best Written Character, Fed Of The Year, several others it was a clean sweep. The show also got a ton of positive full length reviews from Hall of Famers. Now... a decade later, here on the new board where very few feds have really been in-depth, even fewer have made it past a couple of shows. At one point there were even rumblings on this forum to do away with this whole subforum or merge it into history due to lack of activity. But I present to you now here today, 10 years after November To Remember 2001, the return of the god of wrestling fan fiction with the highest quality top shelf fan fiction event of a lifetime only available right here on our little hole in the wall of what's left of the old board. Best Of The Best II: The Revenge Of The Warriors is full, done, and complete all edited into one post: pwcom.proboards.com/post/317134/threadHolz sent me a PM saying that this was a true masterpiece from one of the all time great masters of the art, really high level stuff and really the best single fan fic wrestling show written on any forum probably in the last decade. I was pleased with his feedback. He said thanks and that he loved when people asked him to read their fan fic. Now comes the fun part to kick back spark up and read the damn thing.

I do wish that there was more feds going here I took this personally. Got two projects in the works. One is a quick 6 or 7 post deal I'll probably start on tonight to get back in the swing of things. Then it's time for a more in depth project I've been playing around with for a while. Both are incredibly niche.

I do wish that there was more feds going here I took this personally. Got two projects in the works. One is a quick 6 or 7 post deal I'll probably start on tonight to get back in the swing of things. Then it's time for a more in depth project I've been playing around with for a while. Both are incredibly niche. Lets fucking rock. I can't line up any PW podcasts so I'm just going to blow up the fed thread and shoot the shit here with this post. Couldn't be any more in love with my little fan fic project right now, really created something that is going to be cool to fuck with going forward. Definitely will be scaling back on the format after this last PPV but had a blast imagining and mentally choreographing the matches and moments in that show. I went back and edited the original post I made with more and more bits as I was writing them. I rewrote the opening 4 way match and was much happier with the changes, then the rest of that show it was just on. While you are converting VHS to digital I need to send you my 6 hour long Guerrero vs Malenko ECW tape, the holy grail crown jewel of my entire boxing/MMA/wrestling/martial arts/oddball vhs/DVD/video CD physical media collection that fills up a full storage closet in my house. The thought of that tape dying someday and those 12 matches being gone is the thought of my very essence of my soul dying. Best Of The Best II is in the books. It was the feel good major blockbuster fan fiction wrestling event of the season with attendance over 16,477 outdoors at Caesars Palace and estimated PPV buys at 600,000(according to the Observer) it would have to be considered a success(Best Of The Best I did estimated less than 225,000 buys). The payroll for the event probably cost way over any profits that would have been made, considering what it would have cost to put a fight together like Holyfield vs Karelin in Vegas in 1996. Pockets were lined with the commissions, things were juiced in, offers were made that couldn't be refused. Don't forget there is some really major seedy international mafia shit going on here with the Neo Zeed, all heavily inspired by the real life behind the scenes Yakuza shit going on in Pride FC that is a story just too fucking crazy to be true. If nobody is going to write a book about it I may have to take a serious crack at it soon, a definitive ultimate unauthorized Pride FC rise and fall history book. If I wrote such a book in the back at the end I would put like all of the event results for UWF '84 and '88, UWFI, Rings, Fujiwara-Gumi, Pancrase, UFC, Shooto, and Pride up to the last Pride show in 07 like they had them listed for PPV results in the PWI almanac books back in the day(I had a friend that had the 97 book I had him photocopy all the pages out at his mom's work so I could have it in full page form). Something about having all those results to see there in chronological order in print to put it all in context would be pretty sweet to have. Wait, what were we here talking about?! Oh... Sunny has become the most downloaded personality on the entire internet AOL in 1996. I wonder where Federal Agent Scully ranked on that list, "FEDERAL AGENT! I'M ARMED"! heart emogi

If nothing else this fed will really keep the mods busy. I'm sure RT is busy now checking to see if those Championship Council members were alive in 1996 HA! Also have some pretty controversial storylines coming up that really push the envelope right up to the edge of the rules of what is allowed. And can not confirm or deny that within those matches are hidden insults to my least favorite posters on PW.

I'm a method fan fic writer, for this one it has been fun putting myself back in that time to make it authentic. I have been reading Shadows Of The Empire and driving around listening to Soundgarden Down On The Upside album like it's the only CD I got. Pretty soon going to have to get into some OJ documentaries. Only just recently hit me how the whole world was like in an OJ Simpson hangover in early 1996.

I apologize to any of PWs religious posters but it’s about to get hot up in here with my Benny Hinn Ministries storyline. He was a famous 90’s televangelist I don’t think it was possible to channel surf cable tv in the 90’s without seeing the dude pretty regularly. I was inspired by an angle I seen in the old Mid South with the wrestler The Snowman(jacked black dude Watts tries to replace JYD with after WWF had signed him) where he had the same spiritual advisor as Muhammad Ali. The guys name was Boundini Brown or something. How funny that your spiritual advisor dabbles in pro wrestling on the side? But this led to an Ali guest appearance with him in Mid South where they helped Snowman take out Jake Roberts & The Barbarian in the Louisiana Superdome. When I booked Holyfield vs Karelin and did some digging on Holyfield and what he had going on in 1996 I find that whole story with him and Hinn. Supposedly Holyfield was falsely diagnosed with some heart condition that he was ready to retire from boxing until he went to Hinn and was healed by his "anointing". Holyfield returned to boxing and kept a close relationship with the guy, even donating $250,000 to his church. Hinn has got to be the most over the top televangelist of all time, lives like a billionaire off of all the marks that believe this shit. That character and that story with Holyfield is just glorious and too good to be true(but it is) and by chance booking that match stumbled upon that and(inspired by Boundini Brown I seen on Mid-South tape) opened the floodgates for some great ideas(that really ties the fed together nicely). So booking a shoot hybrid rules UWF Japan style boxer vs wrestler fight on a worked wrestling card it served the greater purpose of being the trojan horse that brought this Benny Hinn personality into the fed. Too stoked about this, going to hell for sure.

Best Of The Best continues to rage on and heat up with every show. Things have really gotten interesting for the promotion over the course of this extremely successful 3 day weekend event in Vegas. It all started with the pay per view Sunday night at the outdoor pavilion at Caesars Palace with a crowd of over 16,000, then the next night live episode of Judgement Night from the MGM Grand with another crowd of over 16,000. It all capped Tuesday with the filming of Shockwave back at the indoor sports pavilion at Caesars Palace with a sold out crowd of over 4,500. Catch the episode airing this Saturday night at 6:05 on TBS: The Superstation! Also do check out the BOTB page on AOL there is a big news story about former WWF Champion Bob Backlund set to make his debut on Shockwave taking on Eddie Guerrero. Backlund isn't here playing any crazy characters he's here as a highly respected legend of the mat, one of the greatest technical or shoot style wrestlers that ever lived. Backlund wants to try to make one more run at a world title and it starts with his BOTB debut on Shockwave taking on top ranked Eddie Guerrero. Another solid mat wrestler will be dropping the gimmicks to return to his roots in his BOTB debut on Shockwave with the wrestler formerly known as IRS in the WWF, Mike Rotunda. Rotunda is a 6'3" 248 pound former amateur wrestling standout at Syracuse, set to make his debut against Marc Mero(who returns from the concussion that sidelined him last month)... Also on Shockwave; Sting will step right back into the ring after his crushing loss to HBK for the Undisputed Title at BOTB II as he takes on the very dangerous "Supreme Fighting Machine" Kama in our main event. All of this plus the World Tag League week 1 rages on, The Ultimate Warrior answers Ahmed Johnson's challenge, Vader, the return of Marc Mero(and Sable), Jeff Jarrett, and an update on the Undisputed World Title Match set for Best Of The Best III on pay per view between Champion Shawn Michaels and challenger Bret "The Hitman" Hart at the Tokyo Dome! Saturday Night Shockwave is all about the wrestling, tune in and join Tony Shiavonne and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan calling all the action in the ring just the way it aught to be with a full card of action!... 6:05 pm on TBS: The Superstation this Saturday night from Caesars Palace Sports Pavilion! Head to Head Sting vs "The Supreme Fighting Machine" Kama
World Tag League Match Arn Anderson & Chris Benoit vs Harlem Heat
Marc Mero(W/Sable) vs Mike Rotunda
Vader vs Devon Storm
World Tag League Match The Steiner Brothers vs The American Males
Bob Backlund vs Eddie Guerrero

Man, booking wrestling is such an art form it's beautiful. I actually enjoy the challenges that come from it, the problems that you inadvertently give yourself to solve. It's the element of wrestling fan fic writing that almost makes it feel like a video game, like a hybrid of some form of RPG and Madden franchise mode simulating. I don't know where I heard this maybe from a JR interview but he said something once about Raw having 11 segments. I always ran with that as a format for a weekly, for a 2 hour show I limit myself to 11 segments(for Bushido and Worldwide being 1 hour I went with 5.5 segments). When I launched this fed with all this TV every week I think I overloaded the roster(and ideas for angles for them) to be sure to cover all of it. Once I got into writing shows so much stuff I had planned just didn't fit in those 11 segment limits so it's been interesting how that 11 segment layout effected the whole fed, how the roster streamlined and things settled in over the first 2 months. With Bushido being focused on shoot style/martial arts hybrid stuff there is a lot of acts and angles from Judgement Night/Shockwave that is off limits there, so it's like I almost feel like I need even more TV time, which is crazy. Push Judgement Night to 3 hours.
I will say 1996 is a daunting task to rebook. I honestly haven't seen many attempt this era around the "IWC" fan fic subs out there through the years. You see a lot of Attitude Era revisions, The Invasion era, 1993 seems to be a popular year to rebook, but 1996 is pretty rare to see somebody rebook it I think. The rise of Austin and the NWO are some tricky things to mess with.
Some issues I have with my fed so far, the tag league is a big one. My original plan for this league was to be a full 26-28 team league with a 16 week season, essentially recreating the early 1990's NFL format and alignment and it was going to take center stage of the fed with all the biggest stars in it. I backed off of this and made it a much smaller version, 12 teams with 12 weeks to test the waters I guess and I'm not digging it as much. With the bigger league and six different divisions it all would have been cooler, and easier to protect certain acts. But got to make it work now it's past the point of no return.

1996 is pretty rare to see somebody rebook it I think I did a 1996 WWF fanfic years ago. It was more tweaking something I already liked to make it just a little bit better than a radical overhaul. One day when I have nothing better to do I'll repost the PPV results and title histories.

Also our camera crews catch up with "The Macho Man" Randy Savage, who has been living in isolation in his cabin in the Florida Everglades ever since he failed to recapture the gold at Caesars Palace. I kinda want to do an AEW Draft with someone. If there's no obligation to do anything beyond the draft, I'm definitely interested. If there's an expectation of something being done beyond the draft, I'm slightly less, but still not totally uninterested.

Having to push the pause button on Best Of The Best 96 due to super busy with work and wanted to take the time to iron out some storylines and thoroughly work out some booking kinks. Coming up with some good ideas to interlace a few different arcs. Once this cranks back up it's on baby.

This card draws all the dimes. I've fallen way behind on this. Gonna try catching up tonight. =============== For the past week or two the only thing I've really wanted to do on PW is my own version of Storytime With Ness . My lady friend in Rochester has long encouraged me to write a book. Maybe I do the next best thing with a thread that makes C Spam look like child's play? Perhaps I even slip in a few pics? Missing 🤯 . I could always count on him to read and comment on my most masturbatory projects.

Protect your laptop and back up your work. Excellent advice. I've honestly thought about getting a notebook and writing out the results with a pen from show to show. That would be very rad to have and flip through to look back on 30 years from now after all this is gone. Baker I dig the storytimes because I know how therapeutic they can be, very much a form of therapy for sure. I've got some good stuff off my chest on PW before, definitely was an element in moving on from the MMA run to where I am now. I can't imagine not having a credit score still and driving tote the note car lot rides. We've come a long way.

I actually made a pot of coffee and got the bong going working on some Best Of The Best plans with some Rings 1992 DVD from Japan going in the background. I've been neck deep into a big house the last 3 weeks with maybe 2 days off, several men on the crew, constantly having to plan things ahead and figure stuff at home on my oven top office space in the kitchen just to stay out in front of this thing and not lose money with guys standing around watching me lay stuff out and figure things. It's nice to have something here to take a break from thinking about it even if for an hour tonight. Fuck the world.
We need to have an annual PW get together every Summer on my jobsite where everybody comes down and busts ass hard in the Texas heat one day to help me make some money. We can watch Lonesome Dove at lunch, you can actually smell the cow shit in the background.
Trying to figure out my next username, I'm leaning towards "PW Fan Fic Bill Watts". I have the urge to go with a later era fat Seagal avatar but refuse to change the one I have now as long as Big Pete has his, just spectacular PW symbiosis here. True brethren.
Booking out my build up for HBK vs Bret for the strap in the Tokyo Dome. This is going to be a real treat to write out. I'm debating on whether or not to do Iron Man. The build up to Mania 12 to me was some of my favorite pro wrestling. Just forget about the actual match and everything that happened after that and focus on the build up to that match, those weeks leading up to it, that is great shit right there. I'm stoked to do my own fan fic spin on it all here with Best Of The Best. Re-writing the Iron man match does sound like a stellar challenge, perhaps the ultimate fan fic challenge.

Stoked to see the draft get lifted off and going. Ness has taken the lead with the Bret pick, top shelf. If you bros need some inspiration smoke a bowl and check out my latest show in Best Of The Best with the latest episode of Worldwide recapping the major storylines where I'm at with the fed. I'm set to take on the mammoth task of rebooking March 1996 beginning with my next show being live Judgement Night episode from the epicenter of the 90's grunge SEATTLE. On a mission to make it the most fucking 1996 show imaginable in fan fiction. Tune in all throughout the draft and check out the tentpole of the whole subforum for 2023, BEST OF THE BEST!

We're taking over.... The Kings Of Kings hybrid union of UWFI/RINGS that has joined forces is destroying Japanese wrestling in 1996. They have captured the IWGP Heavyweight Title and the Triple Crown World Heavyweight Title, bringing both NJPW and AJPW to their knees like a virus. The Kings Of Kings organization is like a virus that we all know is killing Japanese wrestling, but here in the USA we aren't really doing much to prepare for them. The Best Of The Best fans seem to be not really concerned with their invasions in Japan because it's so far away, a different world. The insurrection has been covered in depth on the Bushido program on TBS on Thursdays, we've seen them make appearances and threats in Best Of The Best(their attack on Tiger Mask's induction into the Championship Council with Akira Maeda breaking his jaw) but BOTB security has clamped down to keep the group away. They are not signed to Best Of The Best and not authorized at BOTB events after their attack on Tiger Mask(and the group receives little to no coverage on Judgement Night or Shockwave). On March 31st 1996 we will see the biggest wrestling event in modern history with Best Of The Best III at the Tokyo Dome. Championship Councilman Lou Thesz recently gave his original World Championship Belt to Antonio Inoki to take back to Japan and put on the line in a challenge for The KOK to face him at the Dome. Thesz revealed the belt was made of the gold from the crowns of the ancient kings that were bloodline descendants of the angels that wrestled in the bible. This belt is the currency that the entire constitution and soul of existence of Best Of The Best is built upon. This is why the KOK vow to regain this title belt. Takada used the belt to form the UWFI in 1991 but Thesz repossessed the title after the groups dishonorable tactics invading NJPW last year. Thesz brought the title to America to start this promotion Best Of The Best in January 1996. Now Nobuhiko Takada has reunited with Akira Maeda, uniting UWFI and Rings forces to create the KOK to get his title back. Antonio Inoki has taken Thesz' title belt back to Japan to issue the challenge for the KOK to put together a team of 5 of their strongest warriors to face "Team Inoki" at the Tokyo Dome on March 31st at Best Of The Best III. The IWGP, Triple Crown, and World Championship Of Pro Wrestling(Thesz classic belt) will all be on the line. If the KOK group win this bout they will gain control of the entire world of wrestling and the right to compete in Best Of The Best at will, bringing this crippling virus right to American wrestling's front door. The KOK are a ruthless and violent group of shooters that are out to change the entire sport of pro wrestling. If they invade the Best Of The Best it could alter the entire future of this promotion... Do not miss the LIVE episode of Judgement Night this Monday night on USA Network, the KOK will respond to Thesz & Inoki's challenge!

Tonight at 8:05 on the Superstation TBS.... What happens... when Lucha Libre... takes on Judo.... The Ultimo Dragon returns to Hybrid Rules competition on Bushido to take on Swiss Judo black belt and Olympian in the '88 and '92 Summer Olympics; Lars Adolfsson... vs Dragon is coming off of his massive split decision victory over K-1 heavyweight kickboxing champion Peter Aerts in what has to be considered the best match so far in BOTB's brief existence. The battle took place back at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas at the BOTB II pay per view last month. Lars Adolfsson has stepped up to test his might under the Bushido challenge, where the mantra of Bruce Lee's "No one way as a way" philosophy has been engrained into the code of honor, acceptance of all styles of pro wrestling and martial arts. Adolfsson is a dangerous Judo black belt from Switzerland that fell one match short of the bronze medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics. This bout will be virtually identical matchup in size and weight as both men weighed in for the bout at 183 lbs(83 kilograms). All of this plus "Beyond The Mat" features on All Japan Womens Pro Wrestling, Stu Hart and the Hart Family Dungeon. We will also air a controversial interview on location from the Taz Dojo as well as an Internation Report with Don "The Dragon" Wilson breaking the news of 2 men that have been announced for Team Inoki and their battle against the Kings Of Kings at the Tokyo Dome on March 31st at Best Of The Best III: Redemption City Showdown '96!

Forget about Wembley and AEW this event has sold out the Tokyo Dome in record time and is set to be truly the biggest single event of an entire generation of fan fiction wrestling.... The UWFI and RINGS shootfighting promotions have united and rekindled the burning embers of the original UWF in the form of a new alliance; The Kings Of Kings. This Asian born virus has done irreversible damage to Japan's professional wrestling business in 1995 and 1996. Nobuhiko Takada destroyed Shinya Hashimoto in Mexico City in neutral ground last month to retain the IWGP belt. Rings invasion of AJPW culminated in Akira Maeda defeating Misawa for the Triple Crown belt. The KOK has made their intentions clear that they are on a mission to regain Lou Thesz's original World Championship title belt that he repossessed from Nobuhiko Takada last year when the UWFI invaded NJPW. Thesz brought the title here to America to build the Best Of The Best and restore the honor of the sport. The origins of Thesz's classic title belt have been revealed recently to have been made of melted down metal alloy from the original Spear Of Destiny. The belt was granted from Thesz(the BOTB Chairman of the Championship Council) to Antonio Inoki to put on the line in the Tokyo Dome on the 31st in order to stop this virus from crushing the entire world of the sport of wrestling worldwide....

Special report, Benny Hinn Ministries have taken special interest in Thesz's belt after confirming it was made from the bronze alloy melted down from the Spear of Destiny. Hinn(using the money donated from Evander Holyfield's recent victory over Aleksandre Karelin in Vegas at BOTB II) recently opened his doors to anoint his blessings of supernatural Jesus power to athletes across all sports with a special new 12,000 square foot state of the art training facility at his main church in Atlanta, GA. Ted Dibiase recently returned to reveal that he has accepted Hinn's Ministries into his heart to heal him of his greed and corruption that poisoned him with sin. Dibiase pledged to be an ambassador for Hinn's Ministries outreach program with pro wrestling. The American Males(Marcus Bagwell and Scotty Riggs) became the first BOTB wrestlers to work with Dibiase through the Hinn Ministries, they have since gone 2-0 in the World Tag League after receiving Hinn's anointing(and adapting a newfound wholesome righteous attitudes with Dibiase in their corner leading the pre/post-match prayers)
TL/DR: it's fucking on....

Breaking news from March 1996
Best Of The Best senior chairman of the Championship Council; Lou Thesz, has personally vetoed Sabu's request for a hearing with the council. Sabu had requested that his bout against Vader at the Tokyo Dome at BOTB III be made a Barbed Wire Match. Thesz personally denied Sabu's request and has shot down his requests for an official hearing in front of the 7 man Championship Council that governs Best Of The Best. Thesz issued a statement abhorring Sabu and the "disease" of extreme violence in wrestling, saying that there is no place for it in Best Of The Best. Thesz has been critical of The Public Enemy tag team and their use of garbage weapons in the World Tag League every week. Referee John Finnegan(a former ECW referee) was repramanded for allowing the violence in the Public Enemy vs Pit Bulls bout on Worldwide recently. Thesz has also issued a warning to BOTB CEO Eric Bischoff to curtail the violence that has escalated across BOTB this year or else. Sabu is set to face Vader one on one on pay per view on March 31st from the Tokyo Dome at Best Of The Best III: Redemption City Showdown '96. As of press time the bout is set to be contested under standard rules.

When you take over the 6:05 time slot on TBS on Saturday nights you better bring the goods. Best Of The Best: Shockwave in 1996 has been the wrestling fans' wrestling show week in and week out every Saturday night on The Superstation, with a full 6 match card guaranteed to deliver every week! Join Tony Shiavonne and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan this Saturday night as they host a pivotal stacked card from the Northlands Coliseum in Edmonton Alberta Canada!... Saturday night March 16th at 6:05 on TBS!+++||Finally||+++Sting vs "The Total Package" Lex Luger(W/ Lance Wright)
Marc Mero(W/Sable) vs Rey Mysterio Jr.
Kevin Jackson vs William Regal
+++||Three World Tag League Matches||+++
Harlem Heat vs The Steiner Brothers
Arn Anderson & Chris Benoit vs Doug Furnas & Phil Lafon
Owen Hart & The British Bulldog(W/Jim Cornette) vs The Thrillseekers(Lance Storm & Chris Jericho) After all of the talk and all of the running and jockeying from Lex Luger and his new hot shot agent Lance Wright, it's finally been laid on the line by BOTB CEO Eric Bischoff that Luger must face Sting one on one this Saturday night or else he's FIRED! This match has been signed and it's time to put up or shut up for Lex Luger finally here in Best Of The Best as he takes on his former best friend, the man that still flies the flag of WCW for all of it's fans; The STINGER! Also on the card 3 HUGE World Tag League bouts, including the huge co-main event battle between Harlem Heat taking on The Steiner Brothers! The Steiners disappeared from major league American wrestling during most of 1995. During that time Harlem Heat stepped up to dominate the WCW World Tag Title picture. Now the two division leaders will face off in a possible preview of the finals of the WTL in May! Also the Horsemen are in action against a hungry Furnas & Lafon, while the Edmonton fans are most excited about Owen and Bulldog taking on the young rising Canadian stars Chis Jericho and Lance Storm, aka "The Thrillseekers". All of this plus two of the fastest rising young stars in Best Of The Best will be put to the test in tough challenges, as Olympic gold medalist wrestler Kevin Jackson takes on William Regal and Rey Mysterio Jr. takes on undefeated Marc Mero. Jackson looked impressive in his debut against Hunter Hearst Helmsley but he was nearly caught in a submission. If he's not careful against the veteran Regal he could see his hype train derailed, since Regal is a master of the mats. Regal is desperate for victory since he's 0-3 and would most likely be released with a 4th consecutive loss.
