I have two PW related New Year's Resolutions.... 1. Stop writing like the back of an Intellivision box. And since that's never going to happen.... 2. Get back into fan fic. I need a project. 🤯 give me a suggestion. Browsing through this thread reminds of shinobimusashi 's awesome 32 team tournament. You can't leave us hanging like that. Get back to work, mister! Or at least tell us what was going to happen. What about a one-off Survivor Series event in the vein of shinobimusashi 's Best of the Best Ultimate Survivor deal, except the teams are comprised of the greatest/your favorite bands... and they're forced to duke it out celebrity death match style? Capping it all off with a Survivors vs. Survivors main event or something, a la Survivor Series 1990? Nah. I feel like Survivor would have to win this out of principle. I mean, it's in their name. Surviving is what they do.

Okay...
How about extrapolating off one of those HoW SuperCard threads... pick a beloved year, and book a set of four inter-promotional supershows?

Okay... How about extrapolating off one of those HoW SuperCard threads... pick a beloved year, and book a set of four inter-promotional supershows? Hmm....that's a possibility. But what I'd really like is to have access to my old PW fan fic projects. I felt like that mid 90s WWF deal was what I was born to do. That project was literally 18-19 years in the making. And it was really, really good.... Yet even that lifelong labor of love was exceeded by my glorious New Generation Wrestling. I don't like to toot my own horn (or do I?) but toot toot, Arn Anderson style. NGW was so good. I still think it's the best thing I've ever done on either PW. It was so much more than just a mere wrestling fed. There were so many inside jokes, running gags, shoutouts, and references that just built and built. I think I only ever wrote NGW stuff in like 3 or 4 mad day(s)-long binges. I had to be in the mood. And the wrestling stuff, which was always secondary in NGW, was honestly perfectly booked. And the best was yet to come. See, I had started inserting coded messages into the middle of shows. They looked like gibberish. The idea was for readers (assuming I had any) to think it was just a mistake I failed to edit. But all those messages were legit codes. Like 5 or 6 shows down the line I was going to run the next big angle and then translate the codes. George Plimpton....Teddy Hart....the New Breed.....Foreign Fanatics....Fire & Ice....Mr. Wonderful....Larry Legend....The Patriot....the list goes on. That was the perfect Baker fed. There will never be another one like it. Even my early fan fic days 93-94 WCW project was cool. The Romeo character was basically the precursor to NGW. I'm sure I would have eventually went back to that at some point if I had the access. Alas! That lack of access caused the death of all three projects. I don't have the time or patience to go back and recreate all that stuff. And even if I could it would no doubt be a pale imitation of the splendid originals. Nor do I have any desire to pick up midstream because they would all feel incomplete without the early stuff. Here are a few ideas I've been thinking about running with for years.... Saving The AWA- Exactly what it says on the tin Extreme World Championship Wrestling- WCW & ECW merge rather than go out of business in 2001 95-96 WCW. But weirder. This is the one I'm leaning towards. Fear not! It won't be another NGW, but it will be a whole lot different than real life 1996 WCW. Or I could just do the band Survivor Series thing after all?

I have two PW related New Year's Resolutions.... 1. Stop writing like the back of an Intellivision box. And since that's never going to happen.... 2. Get back into fan fic. I need a project. 🤯 give me a suggestion. Browsing through this thread reminds of shinobimusashi 's awesome 32 team tournament. You can't leave us hanging like that. Get back to work, mister! Or at least tell us what was going to happen. I didn't want to stick a fork in it yet because of their being a chance I could get back into it but I don't think it's going to happen now. It sucks because it seemed like people were genuinely reading it, I really appreciate the love and support it got. I made 2 huge mistakes with it though. It all came down to rushing it out the door to get it started, the bracket I put together was my first draft and I hurried and advertised it before giving myself any chances to make changes/adjustments, so when I posted the bracket I was pretty much stuck with it so I tried to make it work. I guess it was also a big mistake going with 32 teams instead of the original 16 I had planned, just too much. Also my original plan was to do really short summaries for the first round of the tournament, this went out the window with the first match. Writing full matches got to me quick and burned me out, I just didn't have it in me to write anymore of them. I did not want it to just be match after match so I booked several angles that would unfold throughout the show. Bret got injured by masked assailant after the last match I wrote, the masked assailant would be revealed during the match in the next round where Bret takes out the whole Kliq, the masked assailant turns out to be Chyna but her interference backfires and Bret advances as the sole survivor of the Hart Foundation. In the third round it was going to be sole survivor vs sole survivor in a 1 on 1 match, Bret Hart vs Kawada. I wanted to book this thing to appeal to those who showed some interest in it and I knew Kawada was one of Emperor's favorites so I had him making it to the third round on his own but ultimately losing to an injured Bret in a killer singles match. The other big angle was a big swerve in the Dangerous Alliance vs Million Dollar Corporation match. The angle was that Paul Heyman bet the house on his own team but it ends up being revealed that he actually bet against his team and having Arn and Eaton and Zybisco double crossed by Heyman, Austin, and Rude. It is revealed that Austin and Rude with Heyman are part of a merger with Dangerous Alliance and Million Dollar Corporation(The Million Dollar Alliance, remember Tatanka and Kama were injured backstage by an attack, which turns out to be part of Heyman/Dibiase's plot). I was going to write a promo with Dibiase saying Heyman is the stocks and bonds guy while he's more of a Mergers and Acquisitions man. So Million Dollar Alliance is Dibiase/Heyman managing with IRS/Tatanka as henchmen with the actual team going into the second round being Austin, Rude, King Kong Bundy, Bam Bam, and Kama. This sets up a showdown against team WCW, who squash team CZW. The angle going into the WCW vs Million Dollar Alliance match was that Sting completely no-shows WCW's first round match and Dibiase teases that he's been paid to sit the tournament out, I was going to have a fake Sting shown backstage talking to Dibiase/Heyman and when the actual match happens Sting finally makes his debut on the show by repelling down into Stadium Australia from a fucking helicopter! The Million Dollar Alliance has WCW on the ropes because they have the numbers but Arn comes out to get his revenge and help team WCW win, dropping Heyman with a DDT for his revenge, team WCW moves on to the third round. The match I was most looking forward to writing was ROH vs Pancrase, I was going to have ROH win, it was going to be ROH vs WCW in the third round and the outcome depended on the feedback I got. If everybody was digging the show at that point I was going to pull off the upset of having Daniel Bryan upset Goldberg in the finale of the match, ending his undefeated streak in the Best Of The Best universe. If everybody had stopped reading by that point I was just going to book Goldberg to dominate the thing from that point out to become the Ultimate Survivor and remain the undefeated monster of my universe(having defeated Warrior, Shamrock, Tyson, and Austin at the previous BOTB shows). The Ultimate Survivor Match in the finals was going to be every man for himself with Royal Rumble style entrances(but eliminations only being via pin or submission), the final guys where going to be Warrior, Hogan, Bret, Taz, and either Daniel Bryan or Goldberg depending on the level of feedback from you guys, it was either going to be Goldberg or Daniel Bryan winning the thing depending on the level of feedback.

Baker, I'll take on the challenge of deep mining the Wayback Machine for your late '94-early '96 WWF if it means you'd continue it. Same for your '93-'94 WCW. Loved both of those more than I can put into words right now.

Since I’ve finished school and started a real job, I’ve had time to write down some ideas for a fed. In fact, my New Years resolution is to make time for writing instead of fantasying booking in my head.
My two main ideas revolve around either WWE 2004 or WCW 2000/2001. WWE 2004 is intriguing to me because the company was in a transistion. Guys like Goldberg and Brock left. Staples like Eddie and Benoit were champions and future players like Cena, Orrin, and Batista were on the cusp. I always felt like they mis-booked the rise of these guys(except Batista) so I feel like a revision would be interesting. Also, someone like Shelton would’ve been better developed as well.
The end of WCW and potential sale to Bischoff and company is always an intriguing element but I think my better ideas lie in WWE 2004.

Do WCW; give Big Evil some competition slash motivation to at least post Big Bang. His fan(s) is/are dying from anticipation.

That’s another reason why I’m against that idea honestly. I don’t want to do a project that someone else is doing plus I don’t think I can match up with Big Evil’s work. I prefer doing my own thing but I am still going back and forth about it. I would do a modern day fed to write all the wrongs with current WWE but their roster is so massive I wouldn’t know where to start and quite frankly I’ve lost interest in modern day WWE.

So, anyone want to try out a split perhaps?
Hit a bit of a creative wall as of late. Think maybe I would be helped by having someone to bounce ideas off and stuff.

Revisiting my New Generation fan fic is taking me back. It was so good! A part of me wants to rewrite every single show I already wrote from November 94-April 96....but that would be time consuming madness so I'm not going to do it. But there was so much good stuff there! Time for some Barry Horowitz level back patting...
Owen/Mr. Backlund/Anvil as the Moral Majority with Shawn as a friend of the family where Owen really ran the show while constantly stroking Mr. Backlund's ego to make him think he was the man in charge.
The angle where Dibiase wanted to turn the Smoking Gunns into his Hired Gunns. I teased it with the Gunns being tempted by the money they needed in order to save their grandparents ranch from foreclosure. Swerve! The Gunns are gonna do it the bah gawd right way. Then they beat various MDC squads a bunch of times to win the feud. Only time the Gunns were ever interesting, be it in this project or in real life.
Turning ex-Corporation scrubs Tatanka/Bundy/IRS into a fun loving babyface trio complete with IRS throwing "tax refunds" into the crowd, Tatanka's apology tour, and Bundy's fat guy dancing.
Booking Mabel in Colossal Jostles whenever possible > Mabel as a main eventer.
Aldo Montoya as a dashing and daring, courageous and caring, swashbuckling 16th Century Portuguese explorer providing me with an opportunity to spout everything I ever learned from the sadly unknown Sega Genesis gem Uncharted Waters. The Aldo vs. Jean Pierre Lafitte feud for High Seas supremacy was just the sort of solid gold Aldo & JPL had been sailing the world in search of.
Papa Shango....to an extent. Honestly, Shango is right up there with Taz when it comes to wrestlers I love but have trouble booking. Ripping off Lovecraft and Friends for Papa Shango promos wasn't half as much fun as I was expecting. And that Shango/Lafitte alliance was just weird and way too try hard. BUT the Taker/Shango feud where everybody's favorite voodoo priest cursed Taker into Elaine Benes style dancing at KOTR 95 was an all time great fan fic moment.
Finally getting a chance to put all those years of British period drama watching to good use with Hunter Hearst Helmsley vignettes and later promos. Bringing in Tom Prichard as Jeeves The Butler was another nice touch.
The Kid's whole storyline arc was probably the best thing in a project full of great things. From Razor's well-meaning friend who kept inadvertently costing him the IC Title against Jarrett. To his jealousy over Razor's new friend Savio. To finally snapping on Savio, turning on Razor, and then joining Dean's Honor Society as The Graduate Student. Then came his team with Sid as the Million Dollar Kid. Then Goldust's bottom as The Golden Child. And finally regular ol' depressed jobber Sean Waltman.
The Dean~! The Honor Society is right up there with the Moral Majority when it comes to fan fic greatness. Dean/Mr. Backlund/Kid=What a stable!
Mr. Backlund running for President which morphed into Mr. Backlund "running" for WWF Commissioner and a feud with Piper.
British Bulldog had a few cool moments as a badass heel.
Goldust vignettes/promos~! OK, so this is right up there with The Kid arc when it comes to my absolute favorite thing in this project.
Realizing the best way to make Shawn Michaels kinda sorta tolerable is to go so over the top that it becomes ridiculous(ly fun).
The Horowitz & Hakushi vs. Skip & Friends feud. Bringing in Avatar as Hakushi's rival from Japan was another stroke of genius. Ditto for the way I used Buddy Landell as a total jobber. And the big Raw Bowl payoff where the Underdogs won the tag titles. AND ending the feud with a shocking Skip win after all those months of defeats.
Xanta Klaus. I mean, Xanta is always going to be a win. But I actually had him wrestle a match....on Christmas! Where Marty Jannetty heroically saved Christmas from Santa's evil South Pole dwelling brother.
Entire shows. KOTR and every PPV from Summerslam 95-IYH December. Plus most Raw's from around Summerslam-January 8, 1996.
Having Brother Love manage Waylon Mercy. Then bringing Brother Isaac into the mix. Now I've got the original Good Brother managing newbie Mankind.
Jeff Jarrett & Roadie's early run + Double J's triumphant return at IYH December.
New Rocker promos~! Luckily we still have many more of them to come. I am not going to run out of hair metal references any time soon.
HOG's arc from being Dibiase's mistreated manipulated mercenary into his own man. Plus the Helmsley feud.
Camp Cornette, period. With Owen being my personal pet. Also loved getting that ambulance chasing lawyer Clarence Mason involved whenever possible.
Vader's Rocky Mountain Fight Club~! --------------------------------------------- Most of the main event stuff honestly bored me....unless Mr. Backlund was involved. But, yeah, all that Bret/Diesel/Michaels/Taker babyface vs. babyface stuff? Yawn! Throw Sid and even Bulldog to a lesser extent in there too. I'd often write paragraphs upon paragraphs about midcard angles and then devote like two sentences to the main events.
I can also see why I tapped out when I did. Being a stickler for real life accuracy, most of my pet characters are gone. I remember things starting to get boring around February. But now I've got enough good stuff planned for the next few months to keep my interest.

Baker, I am loving your rebooking of the New Generation so far. I appreciate the little tweaks you’ve made without sacrificing the overall direction of the product. My favorite thing you’ve changed so far has to be Undertaker’s feud with Waylon Mercy. I miss when Undertaker feuded with colorful and wacky characters.
Pardon my ignorance, but how do I find stuff from the old PW forums on the Way Back Machine? It’s my first time using it.

I’ve spent a considerable amount of time rebooking WWF 1993 over the past few months. I obviously don’t have the time to do graphics and things like that but I’m hoping to start dumping some of the writings over the next few weeks. I’m still having some trouble writing characters like Razor Ramon, Jeff Jarrett, and Lex Luger. If I’m being honest, it’s just that I never liked them personally. Making it hard for me to really get invested in writing storylines. I know they were all pretty big deals for this era and so I want to do them justice. But I also have no desire to give them lengthy runs in the main event or with titles. Best to ship them to WCW early? Or suck it up and do something with them? Booking characters you don't personally care for is always a big struggle. For fan fiction, for the sake of writing progress, if you can't find fun in the challenge of writing guys you don't otherwise like, I'm not sure it's worth it to sacrifice the fun by forcing yourself. The rest of your writings might be inclined to suffer. Considering the three you named have history in WCW, I don't see any harm in shipping them back there in your universe as soon as you see fit. Maybe even opens the door for you to bring in WCW guys who came to WWF, but now you can bring them in sooner?

This all takes me back, loved so many of those moments and angles. I'll have to come back and drop a top ten. Do it! I'm curious to see how much your list would match up with my own. Thanks for the feedback PI and The Show. The build to IYH April will be posted some time between tomorrow and Wednesday with the show itself (hopefully) following soon after.

Baker-man, Here's what I got after some Saturday morning coffee thought: 1.) Papa Shango's voodoo curse causing 'Taker to boogie like Elaine Benes. 2.) King of the Ring '95; i.e., THE Greatest Pay-Per-View Event of the New Generation. 3.) The Moral Majority led stretch of programming... which in my mind also entailed the great Dudes with Attitude break-up angle as well as the Hired Gunns angle in a B plot, no? 4.) The overall better management of the Million Dollar Corporation. To me, this also covers the Hired Gunns angle as well as the fucking awesome rebranding of scrubs Tatanka, Bundy, and especially IRS. 5.) Mabel's five-minute challenge gimmick, including giant Flava Flave clock necklace. 6.) RAW Bowl reconfiguring to feature the Underdogs crowning (over)achievement in a moment that had me super into a quickly fading tag scene. 7.) Prichard perfection. To me, this includes the genius casting of Tom as Jeeves and then recasting him as simply Dr. Tom in a character/role that made much more sense than Zip. Then, bringing Bruce back as Brother Love to keep Waylon Mercy relevant and also give Glen Jacobs a WAY better gimmick than a demented dentist. 8.) Camp Cornette. Your Owen fandom always shined through, as you handled his character and pushes immaculately. I was a fan of how far you'd made it with Vader too. But I recall being most impressed by how much you got me to actually care about bad ass heel Bulldog (way more so than in real life) from his turn on Luger forward. 9.) The 1-2-3 Kid's arc. Being a HUGE Waltman fan from Day One (for god knows what reason) it felt so vindicating to see him featured so prominently in a fan fiction. It's like, that's the kind of focus he should've gotten in real life! Plus, he threaded together so many of my honorable mention favorite things in the Double J/Razor feud, Razor/Savio jealousy, Dean's List, Goldust, and last but certainly not least... SID & THE KID! 10.) The Backlund Campaign. For sure I thought this great character was done similar to real life. Then you took the premature presidential campaigning and turned it into something more, something amazing, that led to an actual match. Totally dug it. Things like the Goldust stuff and HBK over-exaggerating felt so well done, I just assumed the former was a straight lift of the actual vignettes in a respectful homage and the latter was just a sarcastic critique of real life booking. Not that I didn't love both, but they didn't feel like new/unique twists to reality to warrant a top ten spot. Everything I listed in my top ten were tweaks that enhanced, improved, or otherwise altered 1995 WWF reality in a way that improved it so much so that I thought your version of that year could've easily hung with if not surpassed real life 1997... with the caveat being staying overall relatively true to real life too (which is why I presume you felt stuck with the Diesel run, for instance). The Avatar debut was a near miss at #11. Fuck, I loved your fed. Can't wait for this one to get some legs under it!

Feedback gives me life. I had forgotten all about that cool little Mabel push with the 5 minute gimmick. That whole thing was just to make Mabel credible so Ahmed Johnson could get a bigger rub when he turned the tables by beating the 5 Minute Man in under 5 minutes. I had also forgotten all about Duke "The Dumpster" Droese morphing into Helmsley's latest associate, The Duke of Droese, until the other day when I was trying to remember/recreate the four Raw episodes in between Wrestlemania XII-IYH April. That was another cool little thing I did to make an uninteresting character a tiny bit more interesting. To answer your questions.... The Dudes With Attitude were already on the outs. The Moral Majority's corrupt bargain with Michaels was just the final nail in that coffin. Yeah, The Smoking Gunns beat Owen & Anvil a week or two after they rejected selling out to Dibiase. That lead to a brief Owen/Anvil feud with Owen winning and also gave the Gunns momentum they would capitalize on by beating a bunch of MDC duos over the next few months. By the way, we still haven't seen the last of The Anvil..... Goldust promos were about a 50/50 split between ripping off real life and coming up with my own stuff. I spent a lot of time looking for relevant movie quotes. When I could find none I'd make up my own fitting quotes from fake movies that were talked about on Seinfeld and The Critic. It was a lot of fun. Strobe once mentioned in some HoW rebooking thread how weird it is that nobody ever seems to do away with Diesel's failed championship reign. Guilty as charged. I never even seriously considered it. My only big change on that front was starting Diesel's reign 2 months later to give Mr. Backlund a decent little reign and give Big Daddy Cool a little more build. Plus I liked having Bret as a midcard measuring stick wrestling guys like Mr. Backlund, Hakushi, Lawler & His Knight, Bigelow, and Lafitte on pay per view. My only regret on that front is the timing not working out for a Bret/Dean PPV match. BUT I did at least book them in a Raw match with the meta story being that Bret went all out to make The Dean look good by "carrying" him to a **** match and thus disproving Clique claims that he couldn't work. There was also a competitive Bret/HOG Raw match (I think) the night after Summerslam which directly lead to HOG turning face on Bret's advice. One of my big regrets is not finding a way to make Kid & Sid tag champs. Again, it was a timing issue. I think you once came up with a scenario where it would have worked but I forget the details now. Anyway, I'll be on my A Game going forward. IYH April is honestly kind of a filler show but I've two or three huge things planned for May-June. Then come July I might do something massive and completely unexpected. By August-September I'm going to be deviating a lot from the real life WWF script I have adhered to pretty closely thus far. Up to now I've also done a pretty good job of keeping my Bakerisms in check....or at least confining them to the low/midcard. But I eventually must give into temptation. So, yeah, things are going to get pretty wild during the last few months of 1996.

I want to do WWE after the 2002 Brand Extension.
I mean, I had no idea until I started thinking of what I could do, and then, bam. It was a simple idea no more.
Can someone stop me please?
Please?
FML.

In Your House: Good Friends, Better Enemies is finally complete. I'm probably going to take a week or so off from writing to recharge. The next In Your House is already planned out. It's gonna be a must read show, particularly for fans of Ahmed Johnson and The New & Improved Rockers. I'm not even necessarily pandering to 🤯. I've had this show, along with all of these pay per views, planned out for like 5-6 years. However, I also need to come up with four weeks worth of Raw/Superstars in order to get to IYH May. Now that is something I haven't worked on all that much. Maybe only 30% of that stuff has been thought out. So I'll be thinking of that while on my little writing break.

Looking over the stips I saw ladder and 2/3 falls as options, so it got me thinking. I want a multi-fall ladder match. After someone grabs the belt... they hang that bitch back up and they gotta do it again. Gives me an idea for a match. To the random thread!

Although I hesitate to assume anything will ever top a Serengeti match set in a jungle.

Thanks Jeff. Good to see you pop your head in. i hope things are going well. RT, keep up the good work. Absolutely loving the simplicity. A real breeze to sit through and it all makes sense and is a fun read, just what Fan Fic should be.

After months of trying I finally figured out a method I'm comfortable with for writing, while at the same time tackling a big worldwide story. I'm loving it, as you can probably tell.

Yeah that is the conclusion i came to. I just wanted to do something fun and not too taxing. I have been having a really bad time with my mental health so hoping going back to the thing i enjoyed doing more than anything will help. Fingers crossed.
