Also loved Reservation Dogs RT. Even White Steve. Kenny Boy was probably my favourite side character although Maximus was great too! Fun fact - my friends named their daughter Elora. For same reasons as Elora from the show.

We also loved Reservation Dogs. I wasn't sure how my mom would respond to the humor, but she seemed to get it. Guess we're more alike than I thought. Great series. Sad to see it go.

Watching Ladies First: A Story of women in Hip Hop on Netflix. www.netflix.com/ca/title/80997174Along the same lines as Hip Hop Evolution and How Hip Hop Changed the World. Highly enjoying it as it's taking me down memory lane to loving the older MC's like MC Lyte, Yo-Yo. Missy Elliott, Eve, Lauren Hill, Da Brat and the thrill of introducing me to newer ones I've never heard of. You might dig this @admin . I've watched two episodes now, it's really good! I like that they chose to tackle it thematically rather than chronologically, and I think the editing really makes it sing. Interspersing Snoop complaining about WAP with his song about the exact same thing was A+ shade. My friends and I were discussing this on Friday. My friend and her kids love hip hop, but she was saying that the female rappers lyrics nowadays were absolutely filthy - even worse than their male counterparts. We discussed: is it more 'acceptable' when a guy raps about the same thing? When a woman takes back her power and talks about WAP or any of those things, is it empowering or does it further perpetuate the issue? Pretty thought provoking stuff.

Loki is doing for the MCU what Rogue One and Andor did for Star Wars. It’s fucking incredible. I need more shows like this stat.

Plan to binge Loki when it is all released. First episode was amazing though and a great return to form for Marvel.
///
Gen V still holding up as one of the best supe shows in a long time. Captures the same vibe that made Heroes a hit, without the stuff that did not work.

I'm about five episodes into both Gen V, as well as the new Goosebumps series on Disney+. I still need to start the second season of Loki, although at this point, although at this point, much like c I'll wait to binge-watch it, once I'm done with the other two shows.

Disney is buying the rest of Hulu If that means all the shows on Hulu will be on Disney+ then yaayyyy because we can't get Hulu in Canada without a VPN.

Just got an email that HBO Max is removing 4K from the normal plan. The extra push I needed to just cancel it.

Watching the show Surviving the Raft, and it is basically Survivor on a raft with one really neat twist. The group competes for a shared pot that they split at the end, and after each challenge they are giving a new member, that they can keep if they vote someone else out. Just enough of a charge to really flip this format on the side.
Other twists here is they casted some very interesting people like a redneck civil rights lawyer, diving gear guy who is super anti-cancel culture, black activist, muslim, a Q activist, a vegan, etc. Also at points during the money competitions people can decide to fuck their games and keep the cash for themselves.
Show has a ton of potential. Has like the best of survivor, but the group aspect is interesting as is the swapping in and out.

Rewatching the early seasons of Better Call Saul before I catch up with the last two seasons I missed out on, I forgot how dang good this show is. I'm already on season 2 on my rewatch, fairly easy show to binge.
Before that I binged Justified for the first time and that was excellent, Boyd Crowder has got to be one of the greatest characters in the history of television IMO.

RT, Prime. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_PinesWe're only 2 episodes in but we're digging it. Takes place in Quebec. Based off a book series. First 2 episodes featured a powerful Indigenous subplot. Tantoo Cardinal was in it as well.

Never seen much of Bourdain's stuff but decided to check out Part's Unknown and what a cool show this was. Food, culture and politics with a focus on non-tourist destinations and local experiences. In Myanmar they road a death trap of a train. In Libya, Benghazi is going down and the crew is threatened constantly. In LA talk with Koreans who experienced the LA Riot, where police abandoned them.
Just fascinating stuff. Was clear he did not want to make a food series and while he still had a product to deliver, he manage to subvert that product to make something completely different. Food is featured but in most places it is not the focus.
Really need to get into his books.

There's one where he is the guest of a remote tribe and by tradition as the guest he is expected to kill with a spear the pig they're about to eat.

Yeah, read the network and Bourdain clashed a lot about what the focus of No Reservations should be which is why he left, and Parts Unknown was closer to what he wanted so started there. Funny he takes Emmy's for politically aligned episodes, then the Travel Network had a problem with him being political.
Planned to hit No Reservations after though if I wanted more though.
Shows like this really make me wish there was async presentation of the materials were you could watch like a full event they taped rather than just clips of it, like the celebrations they film. Some of the most interesting stuff only get a few minute while get full episodes of like nothing of interest.

I really like Bourdain his death hit me pretty hard, not all suicides do but he reminded me a bit of myself... Some people just feel everything on a different level, that is what I identified with when it came to Bourdain, I feel like I live my life with all my senses turned up to 11, he seemed to make something beautiful out of the fragility of life which I really enjoyed.

Watching the Jerusalem episode now of Parts Unknown and it is so spot on years later.
Really wish he was able to move away from food and travel entirely and so a legit talk show, maybe about just life in different countries. Parts Unknown moved towards this, but would have liked to see it move all in. What I loved about him is he was so knowledgeable about street culture since he traveled everywhere for his shows and talked to common people worldwide. And I do not think it was just selective editing that made it seem like people were at ease around him.

Did anyone watch Season 1 of Jack Reacher on Prime? It is one of the best new series I have seen recently. The trailer for season 2 dropped:
Perfect amount of semi-mindless violence.

Yeah, Reacher was a ton of fun, Ritchson personifies the character, some great action scenes to boot.
