Well hell, Telltale games just laid off most of its staff, with only 25 people remaining, and there's a high likelyhood the final season of the Walking Dead is cancelled. This is a huge bummer, as I'm an adamant fan of their choose your own adventure style experiences; but vastly more so if it's true the final episodes of the Walking Dead aren't going to be finished. It was the game that put them on the map, and just before it's brought to it's conclusion, they fold. The final staff is evidently working on a Netflix project, which is why the outlook for TWD isn't good.

That's huge news. Telltale were one of the major players of the last generation, beginning with those Monkey Island reboot games before really finding their stride with those Walking Dead games. It did feel like in the past year they were getting stale and the Guardians of the Galaxy and Batman games were given meh receptions, but I thought they weren't doing that badly.
More details will come out, but on the surface it just seems like they spread themselves too thin. They released too many games, to the point where they were beginning to lose money on those projects.
I've never really played any of their games since their rise coincided with me getting out of gaming for a spell, but haven't they just released Part One of the Final Season of TWD? Surely Part Two and Part Three must be nearly done? Especially since Part 2 was due out in a few days time.

I feel like Telltale dipped it's foot into many things and didn't allow things to breathe. They stared doing it this year but it was too little too late. Getting licenses from DC and Marvel and that Game of Thrones one probably doesn't come cheap. Kinda sucks as I was really looking forward to seeing A Wolf Among Us next story. Guess this also means that The Walking Dead: Final Season is in jeopardy too. (No official statement of it's cancellation have been issued by the company) Hopefully someone will pick them up.

No official word, but with only 25 people who are evidently dedicated to something for Netflix, not looking good.

That is sad they were fun games for one run through and easy platinums but really I don't think I ever bought one of their games(games with gold, gamefly, or psn plus). Nothing you do in their games matters for that long.
I believe my favorite thing from them was tales from borderlands. Batman did have some of the most interesting plot twist.

I've loved the Walking Dead series, while none quite had the impact of the first, I've enjoyed growing with Clementine, it's a pity now their legacy will be leaving their signature title unfinished.

Insane. Right after Capcom Vancouver (Dead Rising) announced they were closing. Hope the 600+ employees between the two companies can all find new jobs. All the tweets from within the industry in support of them have been heartwarming.
Evidently only Walking Dead Season 1 and Minecraft Story mode ever made any money, and Batman was a massive flop, and a deal with Netflix for a Stranger Things game fell through. I loved S1 of TWD and The Wolf Among Us, and liked their other works that I played too. Pity.

Should have monetised their games more.

Should have just focused on a couple core series rather than shooting for everything under the sun. Then when those series wrap, go to the next.
