So a bunch of years ago, my boss kind of insinuated that I could get a promotion if we fucked. So we fucked a few times and I got the promotion after the second time. I made a lot of money and kept on moving up in the company. She eventually left and got a job at a bigger company. She makes a lot of money. A LOT!
Since the company I am in is falling apart, I hit her up and asked her to give me a job. She told me “no” and how I shouldn’t talk to her anymore. I guess since she’s a multimillionaire now, she gets to have that attitude. Well now, I’m going to cause a PW rage party and accuse her of rape and say she forced me years ago to have sex with her in exchange for financial comfort and promotions. I’m outraged!
What a “bitch about your job” thread would be in Hollywood. Nailed it?
Too soon? Too raw? Too true? MeToo?

I'm so done with this fucking job/company.
Add updating resume/finding a new job to exercising and eating right as far as things I really need to get my ass in gear on post haste.

It could be worse, pi. I lost my job yesterday. The company let go half the department because they were having financial issues. I knew there were issues and people might be let go but was still rather surprised I got the boot because I was one of the top contributors on every project and getting paid less than anyone so it's not like I was sucking away too much of the budget. At least several co-workers came up to me and told me the same thing so I know I'm not crazy and imagining things.
None of the higher-ups I talked to had any input on who was let go. I feel like someone just threw darts at the seating chart.

I bitch about my job but I should consider myself lucky I guess that I am 1 of 4 left standing out of a 40 person area after 4-1/2" years. I hope you find something quickly, for more money and that you are even happier there.
My boss told me this week we should all start looking, so I am. It's still very much an employer's market so I don't think I'll find something where I make the same to start.
I believe when one door closes another opens so I am hoping for that for both of us.
KING KID I'm almost disappointed your post isn't true.

It turns out getting laid off was the best thing to ever happen to me. I just got an offer and now work at ROCKSTAR. RED DEAD 2 WOOOOOOOOOOO~ I will never bitch about this job. None of the higher-ups I talked to had any input on who was let go. I feel like someone just threw darts at the seating chart. Coincidentally, the Rockstar guys happened to tell me while interviewing me that it was standard industry practice to randomly select which employees to lay off from different levels to fill a quota and be fair to everyone.

Hahahahaha they made it very clear that was no longer something they did.
I believe them.
Most probably.
I hope.
The top review on glassdoor being “WELCOME TO HELL!” was a little worrisome.
Actually though, I am fine working a lot anyway. Worth it. Making super popular games like Rockstar does is what I’ve always wanted to do since I was a kid.
Way better than the work for hire situation at my last company.

I have had a 5,000+ square foot house waiting on me for a little while. I've had my hands full this past month with a cut up little house that I've really dragged out, I had to pull off of a couple times to knock out a remodel job and to fall back and trim out(all the inside wood work, set doors, closet shelves, crown and base molding etc.) another one that we finished in December. So it's been balls to the fucking wall. I just worked 14 straight days trying to finish this house so I can get started on the big daddy. Monday and Tuesday it was fucking 19 degree wind chill all day. Wednesday we worked from 7 in the morning til 7 at night. Had to work half a day today to get it done and man I'm so fucking tired, physically and mentally exhausted.
Now that I'm not working tomorrow I've got a spliff rolled up and a cup of coffee and I got so much catching up to do on PW. I don't even know where to start. Get some fucking Ancient Aliens going or maybe some 20 year old WCW Nitro tapes and veg out while I can, I got to figure up a cut list sometime tomorrow for the house we starting Monday. :ugh:

I'm not a contractor I'm just a sub contractor, I frame them and come back and trim them out on the inside. To me I feel like every man should build a house at least 1 time in their life. It's a spiritual deal brah. Strap on a rig and put some wood in the air.

So in 3 months my area has had 3 bosses. I LOVE sending the same 'job duties', etc. over and over again. I put some effort into the first one and the last two I just forwarded the emails I sent to the first guy.
I'm currently stuck between two areas until our sale is final and the guy who is going to be my boss I like a lot as a person, but I'm not sure we're going to gel in a boss/underling dynamic. I'm starting to figure out he's a more do as I say not as I do, kind of guy. Like he tells us if you are too sick; stay home but he'll come in sick as all hell. He also doesn't believe in 'working from home'. Ironically, he often 'works from home'. He also isn't that understanding when it comes to time off for family/kid stuff as he's never had to since his wife was a stay at home mom. This doesn't bother me as my daughter is an adult but my office mate has a 3 year old and a husband who works out of town. He gets upset I put in OT and don't get paid for it but expects everything to get done without approving OT. And his least favorite phrase is 'I don't have time', but I don't know what he expects me to say when there is 2 of us and we literally don't.have.time.
Yes, I have applied for other jobs but I haven't got so much as an interview. Competition right now for jobs here is insane.

So yesterday was Anzac Day in Australia, every other pub/club shut in the area by 6pm except my work and it was just me and another co-worker on. She stayed back and extra hour to help me but it was just me on for the last few hours, was crazy.
Though i worked All of Easter and now Anzac Day on public holiday rates I can’t complain pay wise.

In my line of work I typically get paired up with an electrician, since they install the systems we sell them. I’m just there to program, verify, look for deficiencies, etc.
I’m currently working on a large project out of town that I drive out to every few weeks. The guy doing the work out there is a great electrician but a super annoying person. I almost got fed up with him this week.
It’s no fault of his own, it’s just how he is. He’s a loud hick that grew up in the mountains and has no tact, manners, awareness, etc. He interrupts, he always has a story to tell, he gets easily distracted...all shit that bugs me, especially when I’m trying to fix code in the software or need to concentrate so I don’t fuck up my labeling or whatever I’m doing.
I don’t expect people to shut up and work, I’m quite happy chatting and getting along and all that, but with this guy it’s impossible. I rarely have this issue and honestly can’t remember the last time I worked with someone I didn’t get along with. Of course it’s on a huge job that I have to keep going back to. Usually I work with someone for a few days then I never see them again.

Everytime I see that RT posted in this thread, I hold my breath clicking in to read because I'm just assuming it'll have been the final straw of stupidity that broke the camel's back, and he'll be relaying the story of his violent but vindicated resignation.

Oh man working with some goofy fucker with diarrhea of the mouth is the worst.
I'm wrapping up the 5,000+ sq foot house I've been working on and it's been a nightmare finding help. My youngest brother finally found a real job so it's been me and my other bro pretty much doing it ourselves. We keep burning through helpers and it's crazy how much guys get psyched out just by having to throw something to me on the roof or when I'm walking the top plates of the walls(got to get it through ceiling joists that are 16 inches apart).
It's very much like a quarterback in the NFL, after a couple of bad throws they get completely fucking mentally overwhelmed and just start throwing shit all over the place. This is a major issue with all 4 of the guys that have come and gone over the past month. It's really kinda funny, especially when they melt down with it and keep having to try to throw the same block like 9 times and it keeps bouncing off the joists or something.
One feller in particular made the mistake of throwing up about a 4 foot board that he could have easily just handed to me, I bent down to reach for it and he threw it up as hard as he could and drilled me right in the fucking ear with it, cutting my ear open pretty good. I was pretty fucking pissed for a few seconds and I thought ole dude was going to take off running he was so freaked out. I calmed myself down and tried to calm him down and tell him it was ok, I was even joking about it throughout the rest of the day but it was like he was shook. Motherfucker was getting mad about me joking about it like I as the one who hit him in the ear! Needless to say he didn't come back the next day.
So the older I get I've realized that I'm just really hard to work for I guess. Can't keep any help.

Haha, man we had a guy come help us Monday before last, my little brother knew him from the gym he works out at, he looked and acted like somebody who smoked, I hinted around about it and he acted like he smoked, he talked about a guy he knew that could get weed, but when I pulled a joint out he turned ghost white and looked like I pulled out a syringe with black tar heroine, he declined to hit it then he came up with an excuse to leave early and we never seen him again.

I’ve been at my work forever and a day so she asked me a whole bunch of questions when she started and I helped her out. Now she speaks to me like I’m an infant child, there’s 3 other supervisors and they are all completely chill so it’s just her. Seems we get the same days off also which is irritating. Not the only person as other staff & members have complained to me and left bad reviews mentioning her also. I’ve been considering changing my hours to do the day shifts and I can’t stand day work so it’s saying something 😂

I work security at a library. Starting on January 2nd, 2019(date not firm but they hope to start it by then) The Library will begin mandatory Bag searches and wand scanning for all patrons who enter the library. The library has refused to hire any extra security claiming they do not have the “budget” for it. They claim they will agree to hire an extra guard for the “first few weeks” but nothing after that. That means that the entire bag search system must be done by the current 4 guards. Also 1 of the 4 guards is required to be on the Skywalk system at all times. This is because the Library has 2 different contracts. The City pays for the Skywalk guards and the Library pays for the other guards(2 Mourning shifts, 2 evening shifts, and 2 weekend shifts and a 2 supervisor positions). The City can be pretty strict when it comes to the Skywalk guard and have on several occasions filed complaints about not seeing “Their Guard” on Skywalk. This would leave 2 guards and the supervisor who have to deal with the bag searches. Also the library expects us to continue the building patrols, deal with any issue that arise and still maintain the front perimeter after the first rush of people are threw in the mourning. Also in the spring/summer time there is an outside “patio” that security is required to set up and take down a large amount of metal tables and chairs for every single day. We usually do this with 2-3 guards but with this new system only one guard can do it(likely the supervisor coming in early and staying late to do so) not to mention that guard will be responsible for setting up and taking down the tables, stations, blockades required for the check system This will lead to Insufficient guards to provide backup if a situation occurs inside the Library. As there would have to be at least 2 guards for the bag checks and to prevent people from trying to circumvent the checks. The Skywalk guard can be used sparingly to assist with back-ups but we cannot rely on that very often as again the City wants “their guard” on the Skywalk at all times. So this will often have leave one guard to have to handle a dangerous situation inside the building by themselves with no back-up. This also means that breaks would be near impossible to do. The majority of guards would not be able to take a break as all areas would have to be maintained. Also The bag check system would also require all guards to either be on constant patrol or standing for most of if not the entirety of their shift as we would have to eliminate the seated desk position. We have several guards who are older or have medical issues. I myself have Diabetes and not being able to have a break until at least 7 and ½ hours into a 10 hour shift could be an issue. This new system will completely overwhelm us. Both physically and mentality. All these issues have been explained but seems to be falling on deaf ears. This whole new program involves a much more aggressive stance versus patron entry than ever before. Library guards are required to practice de-escalation in a non-contact fashion and we are told to be hands off but this will put guards in direct confrontation with many people who will refuse and become verbally or even physically combative over having their items searched or the fact we have on a several daily basis have intoxicated, high and/or other problem patrons entering and having the guards having to maintain the bag check, while trying to remove the problem patron will be very difficult if not impossible. The library sees up to 4000-5000 people a day (at least several hundred of that right at open and a large steady stream well into the afternoon) and at least 70% have some type of bag(The library thinks we are exaggerating and it more like 30%, it’s not trust me) Also general health concerns as we deal with a large homeless population and searching their bags which may have all sorts of bugs or other issues will be a problem. The response from security management has been very little and they have met with the client but feel we are getting a “Whatever the client wants, Figure it out, we are not risking the contract” attitude. The Site Supervisor has already put in a request of transfer but we suspect that he will be told “Suck it up or quit” as since he is a supervisor is he not allowed to be a part of the Union(also as an extra FU to him his Supervisor pay rate isn’t enough to qualify for supervisor benefits) and other guards are looking to leave as well. If he does leave this will fall onto my shoulders most likely as i've been here the longest. Again we have brought up our concerns but the Library doesn’t seem to be listening. They think the bag check will magically fix all problems that used to arise. They don’t seem to care that we will not be able to have breaks, that in no way do we have enough guards to remotely do this and even their own staff Supervisors(who were just informed the other day) are concerned with this as this will result in delayed or no response from us for problems which may put them in danger So the TL;DR is - Library wants mandatory bag check system for all patrons that will cause a large amount of angry public reactions - Won’t hire extra guards for this, Nowhere near enough guards to handle new system - Breaks are unlikely, maybe impossible to have - Company Management is too scared to endanger contract so they are going along with it. - Guards will be put into situations where they will be alone dealing with dangerous people with no back-up or overwhelmed if more than one issue occurs.
So a lot of crap has happened since this. They postponed the checks until the end of February. They announced it literately a week before it went into effect. a few days before the announcement our company general manager stated "It has come to my attention we may not have enough guards for this" with the head of the library going "Oh, this is the first i'm hearing about this" which was complete bullshit as we had been telling them this for months. The library finally agreed to bring in extra guards. My supervisor the very first day it went into effect had a panic attack over the stress and then put in his 2 weeks notice. I was then made the new acting site supervisor. That wasn't something I really wanted as I went from a Monday-Thursday 2:00pm-12:00am shift to the classic M-F 9-5 and the shit storm over the new checks that was happening I didn't want to be the guy that got covered in it. Also the position is not unionized and I would of lost my unionized benefits. My old supervisor claimed he was told his rate of pay didn't qualify for the company benefits(it would of only been a 1.50/hr more than what I make now). They claimed that there was a "supervisor" benefit plan and there was no rate of pay condition but when I pressed them on it saying I had to have benefits(I'm diabetic) and need proof of it all of a sudden they went "Well since you are only agreeing to it on a temporary basis we will keep you unionized and keep your benefits. If in a few months you want to take it permanently we will talk then" The library has been a very "political" place since the start of this. There has been multiple articles written about the displeasure of it i'm sure Foos and Lony have seen them. There has been a community meeting where one guy stated "I'd rather people be consuming alcohol in the library where it's safe and warm than to be outside when it's –35 and passing out and freezing to death," There was a 200+ person protest in our lobby about the changes. Almost every single one were your typical upper middle class white 20 something university student who had never set foot in the library in years or only come by to pick up a book. The City council has now ordered the library to submit reasons that lead up to the checks and any alternatives that could be pursued. The library when doing this pretty much didn't tell anybody they were going to do it and when asked why they were they wouldn't say why just that there had been "issues". the checks has helped in preventing items form coming in. At first it was No dangerous times allowed at all(drugs, bladed objects, flammables, explosives, alcohol, guns) . Your options were either take it home or we throw it out. Now we have zipper bags where people can store their small legal items that they can collect when leaving like tools or pocket knifes. They also will be installing lockers which will be very convenient for our local drug dealers... Most people who use the library everyday don't seem to have an issue and have praised us and problems inside the library have gone down but we still get yelled at about how were are "violating their rights", we're "Nazis", the guards who come from the middle east are being called terrorists and other racist language . The weapons we confiscated in the first month was crazy. All sorts of knifes, scissors, saw blades, shanks, many utility blades, pipes, blow torch, screw drivers, pliers, a welded "hammer hatchet" all in all about 200+ items.
I ended up only being supervisor for about a month. The company called me on a Friday afternoon and told me they had found someone looking for a supervisor position and had offered it to him. Turned out to be the former head of security for the mall next door. He had been there for 27 years but had lost the position when my company lost the contract and the new company refused to retain him and pay him his high salary that he had built up over his long time there. ultimately it wasn't anything I did. They just needed to find him a position somewhere . I had no issue, I had stated that I didn't want the position long term and I was more than happy to go back to my Monday-Thursday. He is a pretty good guy, knows all the problem people, looks to me for advise to help him in the position. I expect the City council will stop the checks in the fall as that is when the library must submit the report on the reasons for the checks but we will see

Hahahahaha
I read this and just honestly laughed out loud.
I'm predominantly an electrical buyer...in Alberta. You described pretty much 75% of the guys I work with. When I got back from holidays one of the other buyers said to me 'I thought I dealt with difficult/'interesting' people...you deserve a raise for what you put up with'.
To further your stereotype... I am a qualified electrician That explains a lot.
I got into it with a crusty older electrician today. He's the only person I try to actively avoid. I've broken down on more than one occasion because he's such a dick. He wanted me to get him a quote on 10 personal monitors. That's all the information he gave. Now because I'm smart I know these are a safety thing for gas detection. However, there are many different types, etc and usually the safety people or warehouse people on site buy these. When I phoned him for more information he said I should know what he wants as he's bought the same ones for 5 years. :suspic: They had a dedicated buyer up until a year ago and their warehouse guy always bought these for them. When I told him this he said 'don't give me that shit. I want results not excuses.' It took him all of 10 seconds to forward me a picture of what he wanted complete with part number but yes, I'm the problem because my tin foil hat was at the drycleaners and I couldn't read your mind. Dick.

Still wondering exactly what kinda books are in this library where you need guards. Also, really missing the TL;DR recap feature from that first post. Reason for security in a libray is because a lot of people use the library for drug dealing, a lot of aggressive drunks come to the library. I personally have had knifes pulled on me. TL;DR of my post -some public hate the new bag check and protested, city council now wants the library to present reasons that justify the checks. We get yelled at and some guards are facing racist language. Most people are ok with it though most who Don't like it rarely use the library - Supervisor had a panic attack and quit, I temporarily took over until the company brought in a new supervisor because they didn't want to give me benefits - We have confiscated a lot of prohibited items like knifes, pepper spray, hatchets and many tools and tons of scissors, 200 items in one one month.
