Australian wrestlers seem to be all gung-ho about having intergender matches and having them on shows.
I saw someone post this “I'm interested know how disallowing women to pro wrestle with men is any different than not letting white people wrestle black people because genetically, and as a blanket statent, POC they are superior athletes” ..even Dhalsim can’t reach that far.
I just don’t see the motive for the push for it, virtually every other sport has a men’s and women’s division without any uproar. Especially with fans now that mostly watch for said women’s division. I don’t see how it being a work hinders that.
I enjoyed Nia’s spot in the rumble but other than that it’s not something I’m dying to see. If reports are true her match with Ambrose at a live event got pulled due to sponsors being upset which I believe.
At one of the Promotions in Australia one of the female managers got in the apron and slapped a male wrestler, a guy in the crowd got triggered over it claimed it was illegal. Since then they did no intergender stuff at all.
Chavo Guerrero VS Jacqueline is the only Intergender match I remember in WWE since I started watching (late 2001) but I’m sure I’m forgetting some. Not counting Rumbles etc.
For those that like Intergender Wrestling, why? And what is your favourite Intergender match?

It's really strange how when it comes to Pro Wrestling, it still feels wrong to see men facing off against women. On TV there doesn't seem to be those hang-ups and we've been seeing heroines take it to the boys for the past few decades, yet in the squared circle it still looks wrong.
I'm at a cross roads. I was thinking about this the other day, why I find the WWE so odd these days, and it's because of how divided the show feels. Before, women were well and truly there for the male gaze and were nothing more than sex objects. Now they're the biggest stars in the company and yet they can't interact with half the roster, so it feels like we're watching shows within shows. It's like if Itchy and Scratchy or Terrence and Phillip started taking up half of The Simpsons and South Park respectively. So I'd like to see that addressed more, whether that means making the mixed match challenge apart of the show or whatever who knows.
However as far as man on women wrestling, it's an each to their own and case by case situation. I don't want to see Alexa Bliss vs. Brock Lesnar at all, but Shazza McKenzie vs. Robbie Eagles in woop woop Australia, sure.

I think the elephant in the room is how little female wrestlers get paid by comparison to the men. if it wasn’t for Ronda in the mainevent it would probably be the cheapest Main Event in years. Smart way to have a cheaper show while pretending to be about female empowerment.

I like it. Loved Candice in PWG and obviously a big part of Chikara back when it was watchable. Obviously you have to give disbelief a pass but it's no more out there than say Holloywood movies where a 110 lb woman takes out trained killers in full gear (lol) so I got no issue.

Is Chikara bad now? I’ve watched maybe one show.

Like all wrestling, it depends on the circumstances and the stakes.

The Scarlett Bordeaux VS Glenn Gilbertti (Disco Inferno) match on Impact pretty much summed up my dislike of said matches. People always argue they promote equality but all the IG matches I’ve seen are
Male is the heel, gets heat for beating up the poor women. Shouldn’t they be presented as equals then?
Female is the face, wins the match and takes very little offence before their comeback and wins, as the male heel is shown to be humiliated.
Why should it be humiliating to lose to a woman if you’re promoting Intergender matches?!

It only looks odd if their is a big size difference. Even with that same gender if you are bigger you are seen as the heel. Because for the most part fans won't believe someone half the size of you is the heel. Which was one of the problems with Alexa vs. Nia Jax. And more recently Braun vs. Leo Rush.

Cowardly heels wrestle faces bigger than them all the time and get heat for it.

I don't mind it. I think it works well as a special attraction, but it is not something I don't want to see all the time. Basically because it will lose what made it special. Much like Hell in a Cell. A lot depends on the story and presentation. While the match was lacking in some areas. I thought Disco and Scarlett had good story. Jordynne was great at the All In over budget battle royal.

This is a very interesting topic posed. I definitely see things a bit differently. I think of it as more like "why wouldn't you like it?" than "why would you like it?" Someone's gender doesn't really affect the quality of a match so it's the same thing as just liking a normal match or not.
I voted yes but I don't think I've ever seen a good intergender match and certainly don't have a favorite. I'm kind of out of touch with the whole women in wrestling stuff going on right now since I missed the whole Divas revolution with AJ or whatever that I keep hearing about. The problem before was that a lot of the divas WWE hired simply couldn't wrestle very well, which is unrelated to their gender. There certainly seems to be some more skilled wrestlers in the women's division now than before though and I would probably enjoy a lot of them wrestling men more than some of the shittier male wrestlers.
I can definitely understand not liking it in reality with how it has occurred so far with the stupid storyline of "man is a heel for hitting woman" thing, but I think in principle there is nothing wrong with it. Sure, all other sports separate the women and men's divisions as well, but I always thought that was odd overall. I'm not sure what the reasoning behind ever doing that in the first place was.

*looks up athletic differences between men and women*
Oh. I didn't know there was an ~10% gap in athletic sports at the elite level between the genders in most areas. Why are feminists so insistent on being considered just as athletic as men then if they are not? Weird. Welp, the more you know.
