So with the arrival of AEW's first official show as a real promotion, getting nearer and nearer we've been getting a bigger view on what their women's roster will look like.
I started with the announcement of Britt Baker, Kylie Rae, Penelope Ford ,and Nyla Rose.
In recent weeks they've added Bea Priestly and Sadie Gibbs. However today they made their biggest female talent grab signing Allie/Cherry Bomb of TNA fame.
Allie was a major part of IW's women's division for the past couple years , and it will be interesting to see how big of a focus she gets in AEW.
I'm also interested in seeing how frequently they supplement their native roster with talent from Japan. Will they from a working relationship with TJPW going forward I'm also interested in seeing how any tv deal will shape out.
What are your thoughts on the AEW female roster? Are you happy/excited for it? Is there anyone else you would like to see added?

It's a pretty good starter set for this division.

She might be the biggest name signed so far but I can't say this makes me any more excited about the division. I kinda liked that basically everyone they had signed I hadn't seen much of. Allie's alright and I appreciate her creativity but in the ring she's passable at best and really only had one good match that I'm aware of in Impact (and that was with Tessa who'd probably make me look great).
With that said, I am looking forward to seeing how this shapes up. Even if only one of the girls from the All In four way is actually signed, that match really surpassed my expectations and sold me on what their division could be.

I feel like that match itself, and many independent womens wrestling just shows that women are capable of so much more than what they limited to do in mainstream wrestling

Yeah I was mainly referring to her being more of name than the other women, than calling her a great talent when I referred to her as a big talent grab. I've never been super impressed with her, and it seems like Impact made the decision to let her go themselves which allowed AEW to pick her up. I think the women I am most excited for is Kylie Rae she has a fun wrestling style , she's another Booker T trainee and any women that comes from his school seems to be at least decent .

I'm gonna miss the bunny on Impact but I think its a good move for everyone. AEW get a quality lady. Allie gets to show her talent to a different audience. Impact opens a roster spot for a different KO.

Is the woman in the middle of the photo the one that used to be a man?
I feel like that would not be ok if this were a real sport (unfair advantage physically when competing against natural women). Should we care about this at all in a fake sport?

Should we care about this at all in a fake sport? Well I don't know about the photo but I did hear about one in MMA. And she broke another woman's skull. But in wrestling I would say it is fine.

Love how Brandi is in the most key position on the poster. Both her and Jericho stand out in that way.

Impact definitely can write off Allie after tonight if they wish. I wish they used less spoilers in their YouTube videos titles though.

Another potential signing Riho Hopefully they do a better job of incorporating the Joshi into the roster rather than ROH's half-assed effort with their partnership with Stardom. Wait. Hold the fuck up. There’s a tranny wrestling women?! This post is not cool. I'm not going to let you take over this thread so don't bother making this a thing.

Well one big difference between AEW and ROH is that in Shida's case at lest she is moving to the US full time in November , so they'll have at least one Joshi wrestler on hand all the time. With ROH the Stardom talent are still primarily base din Japan soROH can only use them every once in a while. Also from what I've read Kenny Omega is a big fan of Joshi wrestling and wants to use it like WCW used the lucha/cruiser-weights in it's heyday. I'm personally cautiously optimistic.

Fair point. But I still feel like they used the Stardom relationship as a crutch to not put any effort in, rather than a reason/driving force to get WOH up to its potential.
I could probably look this up myself but have we been given an indication of what the AEW show schedule is going to be like?

I see the girls being used more like CHIKARA than RoH. In CHIKARA they brought over a serious threats to not just women but men as well with Team Sendai Girls even getting a King of Trios win.
I am optimistic here that at the very least AEW will try hard to get some of the top feuds to have matches in the US since no one else is.
You are dead right on RoH not using the girls right too. It feels like they are making no commitment to showcasing them and letting them steal shows. Been out of touch with a RoH for a bit though so maybe this changed but I know when I went to shows the fans were still sexist as shit and did not want to see girls wrestling at all. Hope with the Beautiful People showing up they commit more to the girls.
Edit: Also as someone who likes intergender wrestling trans stars to me would be a great thing. It opens the door to have women vs men and just do away with sexist separations. Silly to pretend that women and cruiserweights are really two different divisions despite work very similar styles.

May not mean anything but, Tenille in AEW would be interesting I hope she would step her game up from her indy work so far.
Also looks like AEW will be on TNTin the US, for their weekly show.
Finally Meltzer confirmed that Riho was signed to a five match deal as a trial to see how she likes living and wrestling in the US as she's still pretty young (21).

Just realized I missed an earlier signing, apparently Shanna a Portuguese wrestler known for her work in Eve, and Stardom has signed with AEW.

If they sign Tenille which has looked like a when not if for a while now, then that would really be the cherry on the top for this division. Aside from Leva, I would consider myself a fan or highly intrigued by everyone else on the roster.
Mildly interesting that WWE pulled Toni Storm from her match with Bea Priestly in Stardom because they didn't want her to lose to someone from AEW.

Does that mean you are intrigued by Brandi too HR? :stupidl:
I'm hoping they keep her mainly as Cody's manager and as one of the main PR people, and keep her wrestling to a-minimum, although her match with Tenille in the WOH tourney wasn't that bad so she can be carried to something passable.

OK, intrigued would be too far but I certainly don't really have anything against Brandi. As far as I'm aware she's never shown herself to overrate herself like Maria, so I would be surprised if she uses her position to overbook herself in a Stephanie-esque capacity. The fact that she's in a match at the Jacksonville house show (and might not even actually wrestle herself?) rather than at Double or Nothing is enough for me.

I dig Brandi. She generally plays her roles well and does not really seem to care about putting herself over. Given she is in charge the brand I cannot see her getting all into the self obsession that kills others. Afterall, no one is bigger than the brand itself. The potential for things like 5 match contracts gets me excited. Great way to test people before committing a year or more to them, and more secure than one off deals where you build someone then they disappear.
