Didn't see the matches at DoN so can't compare them to those but wasn't overly impressed by either match. The triple threat had hesitation spots, botches, and some strikes from the smaller girls looked weak. I don't know what to actually call them but it is like when kids play fight and they just swing fast at random. The threat threat could been a little better if they did the double crossbody spot before Nyla diving knee. And that diving knee should have been the finish. She could have been made to look like a star right there. But they went with the big person gets too cocky and loses to a surprise roll up.
Allie matches in Impact were a lot better and why did she make her finisher a super kick in company wear superkicks are already spammed to death.

X-zero, Here's highlights from the double or nothing Joshi match The biggest difference was the tag match had a bunch of veterans and bigger women who are much better strikers. Also, the veterans were much better bases for Riho and Yuka than either is for each other. I was much higher on the match than X-zero, but I wouldn't put Riho and Yuka in a singles match together they have the same weaknesses in that they are both pretty light with their strikes. Also like I said Yuka is too small to be a good base for Riho's more intricate maneuvers. Also, Riho and Yuka need to work on broadening their move-sets out a bit .

I thought Allie/Leva Bates was the better of the two women's matches from Fyter Fest, however, while I do like Leva, Dex is right in that some (most) of her stikes look super soft. As for the other match, was kinda hoping Nyla Rose would have picked up the win, she's supposed to be this big powerful dominating woman (according to the announcers), yet she's already 0-2 in AEW.

The highlights of that match felt longer then last night matches. And that one was a lot better. Was a fan of the one in red with the ponytail even before the finish. If I was only judging by that match at DoN I would say they are going to have a good women's division. But if i was just basing it on Fyter Fest the one that more people might see because it was free. I would be concerned about their women's division.

I feel had that same match happen in WWE it would have got torn apart. And one site talked about how great of a story about the two smaller people teaming up against the bigger person. That is almost standard in a match with one big person and two smaller people. I really feel a lot of the internet looks at AEW with rose colored glasses and ignore some just ok and bad things.
After that second match I didn't feel a rival to WWE. I didn't even feel decent competition to Impact or ROH either.

Admittedly when it comes to wrestling, I do have some questionable taste... and especially when it comes to female wrestling, I feel like I like quite a few people the majority don't. I mean, I used to go to bat for Victoria/Tara all the time on the old forums, and have verbal wars with you guys for what felt like forever.
Still, though, I like Leva and hope good things come her way in AEW. Her run as blue pants was awesome in NXT, and I really liked the Lucha Sisters (her team with Mia Yim, who is also great by the way).

I'm not surprised to see the hate on the Librarian gimmick dominating the post-show discussion - that really was terrible. I agree with Dex that Leva is a very limited wrestler and have no real sense of support for her, but the stuff was falling so flat I felt quite a bit of sympathy for her. They need to cut their losses with that.
The triple threat match was definitely inconsistent, and they got better as time went on, but there were certainly many awkward, poorly executed spots. Nyla obviously has some impressive athleticism and she did a few spectacular things, but she's also very green and makes a lot of mistakes.

The mic work on the librarian(s) gimmick was so terrible, I couldn't watch the match after that.
The triple threat was fun. Yuka is great, I hope she keeps coming back to AEW.

The Tag match was funny, but Britt was really off I think she maybe got a concussion early in the match. Bea was really impressive.
Brandi just needs to stop wrestling, and just be the GM of the women's division. Allie can't carry lesser talents unfortunately, it's more like she needs to be carried herself.

I am guessing you meant to add stop somewhere in there. And yeah something had to be up with Britt. I had heard good things about her but she looked the worst in that match. Still best preshow match AEW has had to date.
Allie really needs a good opponent for her next match because her AEW career hasn't been so great so far. Worst match on the card two ppvs in a row.

Yes I meant stop wrestling obviously, she just doesn't have the kind of athleticism that translates to wrestling. She's also in her mid thirities so she deosn't have much upside. She should just manage Sadie Gibbs or something. Awesome Kong really doesn't need her, not letting Awesome Kong talk for herself would be a mistake. . Allie needs a high level wrestler to carry her to something god. Bea would probably work.

I don't think we can be giving Bea too much credit when the first thing she did was concuss Britt by kicking her in the head. She looked like she was just too amped up for the match and while accidents happen I can see why she's got a bit of a reputation for being unsafe. The injury might have caused some problems in the match flow, but I also wasn't impressed by Nakajima. She didn't have anything close to the level of execution you expect from the Joshi.
I agree with the comments about Allie though. She's fine but I don't think should ever really be featured. The only time she's had a particularly good match was with Tessa and that's self explanatory.

It kind of helped in Impact they had Allie came in as a non wrestler so when she didn't do much it was storyline based.
Plus I have a feeling Rosemary help her with match structure in Impact. This is mostly a guess since Jade mentioned how good Rosemary was at during it. And Allie and Rosemary are friends so just assuming.

Yeah, great point. They told a really good character arc with her in Impact and that definitely helped supplement her. She's not exciting enough in the ring to just be a babyface with no character so that's something that AEW will have to work on. Playing the underdog against Brandi and Kong if they plan on making this a longer term feud is just a bit meh to me - unless they can find a way to spice up the storyline a bit.

@admin , I get your complaints regarding Shoko, honestly, I'm worried AEW is drawing a little too heavily from TJPW when it's one of the lesser joshi companies in terms of in-ring work. I noted in my Joshi thread that the workers in that promotion are generally pretty green and their style is softer compared to other Joshi promotions with more of a focus on comedy than serious in-ring work . Yuka and Miyu Yamashita are probably the best workers in the promotion. A promotion like Ice Ribbon would be better to draw from. Tsukushi, Kurumi, and Tsukasa Fujimoto alone are better than anyone from TJPW. Marvelous would also be better.

Sports Illustrated just reported that a new AEW Women's Champion will be crowned on the inaugural AEW on TNT broadcast on October 2nd.
Who do you see squaring off for the title, and who do you think will be the first champion?

I read there will be info released on the 'road to all out' YouTube series.
I'm assuming Brit Baker will be involved. Very conflicted on who else. I enjoyed all of yuka, riho and bea preistlry and kylie rae recently. But would prefer a one on one match. I think storyline wise kylie should not be the first champ as she feels like an underdog.
Give me brit vs bea I guess.

Singles match announced for all-out Riho vs Hikaru. Should be really good, and presumably should be for the second slot in the women's title match in October, with the other being the battle royal winner.
I wish they gave a reason why these two got to skip the battle royal and just have a singles match for the title opportunity. Shida has literally only had one match in AEW so far and hasn't really been mentioned since.

Cool I believe Hikaru Shida is the one I liked from the Double or Nothing highlight video you showed.
They probably are in the battle royal too since they don't have 21 women on there roster.

So it's looking like unfortunately most if not all of the extra women in the battle royal are not going to be part of the actual roster.
This is expected, but pretty disappointing as the women's roster has quite a few holes that the talent in this match would help fill.

Isn't this for a slot in the title match? Why tell people they are just filler and have no chance of winning.

I hope they do individual entrances for the battle royale. At don it seemed like a big opportunity for growth when five guys just randomly came t the ring. Maybe space them out by 15 seconds at least
