I didn't want to spoil the moment for any of our NJPW dezians but 'The Alpha' Chris Jericho issued a challenge to Kazuchika Okada at this year's NJPW Dominion show in June. The match itself should be another dream match for Jericho who is something of a fan favourite around these parts, but the bigger talking point is the potential ties it could form between NJPW and AEW. For those who saw the MSG show, it was obvious that ROH and NJPW were out of sync with one another and if NJPW wants to expand globally they have to hop into the bed with the Elite.

I haven't been keeping up with NJPW at all in recent weeks so I haven't seen or heard about the recent show. What's the story? And is it a developing one? Or is this just an example of Khan giving his employees some leeway outside of AEW?

I think it's a bit of both.

Jericho and Omega had a bit at a small house show last week and it was basically done as a total swerve. I don't know if AEW and NJPW were in cahoots or Jericho & Omega planned it that way themselves, but either way I'm happy there's still a working relationship there.

There's no real story. The video was a complete surprise and Okada vs. Jericho is happening at Dominion. HYPE.

I've wanted to see Jericho take on Okada ever since he first showed up in Japan so I'm really happy. I'm also glad that this means AEW and NJPW will likely have a healthy working relationship going forward.

Chris Jericho is everywhere. This dudes a fucking legend.

Jericho is one of the only fresh opponents Okada has left, and Dominion 2019 is a great time to have this match. Glad Jericho is free to wrestle. Should be awesome, and unlike any Okada match we've seen before.

I really really really hope Jericho does is trademark arm pose and the camera zooms out, mocking the Rainmaker pose.
