So if you were booking a women's division and had to choose either Becky Lynch or Tessa Blanchard to build your women's division around, who would you pick?
Personally I'd pick Tessa rather easily. She's a far more interesting wrestler than Becky , a much better athlete, and does better at elevating lesser talents. They are both good on the mic, but I feel Tessa has slightly more star power.

Almost like a parent picking their favorite child. Becky's has the better character, but Tessa has the better ring skills. I'll have to think about that.

Tessa easily for me too. My rating of Becky has definitely gone up significantly because of this recent run but she's still got some pretty major limitations which were painfully obvious tonight where she barely did three moves across two matches.
As far as "building a division around" you've also got to consider that Tessa's nearly 10 years younger and doesn't have the injury history that Becky does.

Becky since nowadays good heels are easier to come by then good faces. I think a better one though would be the comparison between Charlotte and Tessa.

I watch impact a fair bit, and I don't really understand what tessa is about in terms of a character, shes great in the ring, but I think maybe I find her lacking in the charisma department.
So Becky I guess

Tessa has youth going for her but Becky is big game proven. Tessa isn't, she has yet to have the moment that Lynch has.tessa moving forward is better but like any prospect, they are just prospects. Becky is the sure thing.

Becky is the sure thing. Obviously she can't main event Wrestlemania but Tessa's match with Gail was clearly that moment. The idea that she is somehow unproven is complete nonsense. A prospect doesn't have a 60 minute match with Mercedes Martinez.

What haunted Styles pre Njpw was wrestling in front of no one and wasting years in futility. Impact has been such a non factor that people who watch the shows have hardly any expectation, Lynch has pioneered the women's product to a better place than what it should be along with Rousey. I said the same about Gail Kim when she was in the same spot and people dared say she was in the level of Trish Stratus. You saw Awesome Kong be the big fish in the pond to hardly anyone watching in Impact only to come up small among the flourishing talent at the time in the E. I have no horse in this race, I am far from some WWE Homer but TNA is such a joke for years that there's no expectation for a fan to invest in. Lynch has had to conform to the friendlier WWE style and has to bust it on the brutal WWE schedule. Tessa has yet to show this. What Becky has done is incredible. You either come up big like AJ or Samoa Joe or you bomb like Braden Walker or Kong or Kazarian.

You either come up big like AJ or Samoa Joe or you bomb like Braden Walker or Kong or Kazarian. You have a reasonable enough point but you are overstating the WWE platform. Good stuff in other promotions doesn't stop being good just because there are less people watching. "No expectation" doesn't change the fact that Tessa vs Gail was a far better match than the Wrestlemania main event, nor the fact that Tessa's KO division has been a more entertaining watch than what WWE has been serving up with Becky at the top for the last few months. As far as trying to argue that the WWE sorts the wheat from the chaff - you've picked a pretty poor example. What Awesome Kong didn't achieve in WWE had nothing to do with her lack of talent or ability to "make it on the big stage" - nor does it reduce the importance or quality of what she did in TNA. I'll come back to you in five years when Tessa is in the WWE and is consistently having better matches than Becky did.

I don't think Tessa not having the opportunity yet to show she can shine on a bigger WWE stage should be looked as too big a negative, especially when she has shown she can get over and be popular in multiple different settings. Tessa did multiple tours of Japan and was over with the crowds there, she has wrestled in Mexico recently doing a show with AAA and again was over, and obviously, she's shown she can get over with the American crowds in IW , the indy scene and even the All In show.
I honestly don't think the character work gap is nearly big enough to make up for the pretty big gap in ring ability. Tessa has shown she can work a variety of different styles, is probably one of the best if not the best female bases in the wrestling world, and most importantly elevates and brings the best out of whoever she faces in the ring. I don't know if you can the same with Becky consistently at least.
