If you guys are serious... Happy to teach you how. It's about finding the opportunities that already exist in either the market you work in or an area than interests you. There is no point starting a business you don't understand. But it doesn't take much to get a business going.

Seems to me the fundamental difference between gambling and investing is that -- unless I have this gambling thing all wrong -- you're betting against the odds. If you put your money on the Revival to beat Finn Balor in a handicap match, you're looking at what's most likely to happen and choosing the other option. In other words, you should be going in expecting to lose and being pleasantly surprised if it doesn't happen. With investing, you're looking at what's most likely to happen and going with that. You don't put your money in companies you believe are going to fail or underperform -- if you're SUPER on it, you can look for companies that you believe are undervalued, and that's where sports betting might become sports investing. "Everyone's already written off this team but their QB is getting his confidence in his deep throw back" or something like that. But then you're also betting that you're more knowledgeable about sports than literal sports bookies so... I love the chatter. I’m not intelligent in the investing into homes/businesses department. I have a slight idea. I also know that investments into companies go terrible and people lose a lot of money. I’ve seen it happen to retired people. I’ve also seen investments pay off like crazy and make the rich even richer. I just think it has the same general idea as gambling on sports teams. I’m not going to throw $15,000 on the Colts to win (which btw would get me $225,000) because it would put my family in a bad spot. But investing what you can afford by putting it on a team you believe in is the same as investing. I don’t have to sit in meetings with bosses who are going to show me graphs and predictions. I get to look at what the team has done in the draft, in free agency and what their roster looks like. Of course, only 1 team can win it all and like UT said, I don’t get a percentage based on how far they get. Only if they win it all. I guess that is the ultimate difference. I’m still going to start telling people that I invest into sports teams, though. Srs talk? Index funds and target retirement date funds for people like you and me. Give your money to Vanguard or Fidelity or whoever, tell them to manage it and it'll be their headache. I don't wanna spend all my free time researching companies and picking individual stocks and keeping up with all the news with each of those companies to figure whether to buy/hold/sell.

I'm not ashamed to say I have a side MLM/Direct Marketing gig. Direct Marketing is different from Pyramid Schemes. I know people personally (not people you only see on a flyer) who pay their bills with it, but it takes work like anything. I've been on hiatus as I go through some major changes at the day job, but that's the great thing about it, I work when I want/can. It's a super fun gig and you can make some decent bank in a couple hours. Because of it I got 5K back on my taxes last year, met some amazing people and have gotten to travel. All thank to Mrs RT
When I worked a second job I was working my ass off and had to pay it all back to the government even though I had them take off extra tax. Like anything being a business owner has ups and downs.
