I haven't been keeping up with ROH but this is their biggest show of the year and the card is looking pretty solid. Baker what's the UMBC Event Centre like? Is that where they typically hold these shows? Looking forward to Flip/Rush and Young/Gresham. I want Cobb to win the ROH title, but have a sinking feeling they'll keep it on Taven.

Is this Cobb's first shot? If it is sadly we all know what that means.

Taven 79 days and counting.
Needs to beat 162 if he wants to surpass Justin Credible.

Is this Cobb's first shot? If it is sadly we all know what that means. I don't. My knowledge of ROH is limited at best. I know Taven has been built up quite a bit and The Kingdom is apparently a big deal. I can't see Taven dropping the title so soon after the MSG show. But has Cobb lost a match yet? I think fans would riot if Taven is the guy to beat him first. Also Cobb is in the G1 so he's going to be out of the ROH picture for like the next six weeks at least. They're kind of in a bind here. Screwy finish with The Kingom helping Taven retain?

Is this Cobb's first shot? If it is sadly we all know what that means. I don't. They're pretty infamous for not striking while the iron is hot when it comes to putting the belt on a guy the fans are into. So they end up challenging for it several times until they finally win, but by time they are crowned "the guy" the fans have cooled down on them. I was suggesting if this is his first crack... he needs to get 5 or 6 more shots before they pull the trigger. Obviously this is not the case for every champion but it's happened more than a few times that it has become a theme. Course with anyone of name value being a target for HHH's toybox it may be why they went with Taven...

Baker what's the UMBC Event Centre like? Is that where they typically hold these shows? I've actually never been there. It's on the other side of the county and I've just never had any reason to go. I'd call UMBC a mid-level American university. Lemme look up their arena real quick.... Wow! It seats from 4000-6000 depending on the setup. From everything I've read I can't imagine a cold ROH product drawing half that many people. The shows I went to in 2014 were at the Myers Pavilion. My brother played indoor youth soccer there. That's what it's best known for in the region. It honestly wasn't a very good wrestling venue. The layout is weird and bad. Sources say it can only hold 450-500 spectators. Sounds about right. Before that they held shows in the DuBurns Arena. This is another youth soccer facility. But I have a lot more attachment to this one since my grandmother only lived a block or two away. My brother and I would often wander the grounds on our visits. Plus he played indoor soccer here too. I've never been there for a wrestling show but I imagine the layout would be similar to the Myers Pavilion, which is to say "bad." It seats 650. My guess is ROH left DuBurns for Myers because of financial reasons. I've heard DuBurns charges a lot for events. Plus it's nicer (or at least was the last time I was there) while the Myers Pavilion is rather trashy. Back in the late 90s one of my great wrestling dreams was for Maryland to have its own "ECW." My dream Maryland ECW would hold shows in the DuBurns Arena. I may have even told Christian York he should get the MCW promoter to run DuBurns ----------------- Pete's thread title confused me. This show is Best In The World, not Final Battle! For a second there I thought they booked Final Battle 6 months in advance  I haven't watched ROH in like 2 years. Taven as the modern day Justin Credible seems like a spot on comparison though. I never thought I'd get nostalgic for 2014-15 ROH. It kinda sucked! But those 2014-15 ROH guys are all over WWE, NXT, AEW, and even TNA today. I'm skipping this one without a second thought. Only way I can see myself going back to an ROH show is if PCO challenges for the belt in B-More and/or they bring Toru Yano in for a Baltimore show. I do want to see PCO live at some point.

I'm genuinely amazed the people still watch ROH besides for The Briscoes. Matt Taven is champion. The Allure feels like they don't even fit any company let alone ROH at all especially in 2019.

I'm trying to figure out how I made such a bad slip up and I've got nothing.
Colt Cabana has officially pulled out his NWA vs. Briscoes tag team match, with his replacement to be announced on the pre-show.

Matt Taven retained against Jeff Cobb
Villain Enterprises retained against Lifeblood and PJ Black
Shane Taylor retained against Bandido
The Briscoe Brothers went to a no contest with Nick Aldis and Eli Drake
Jonathan Gresham def. Silas Young
Kenny King def. Jay Lethal
The Allure def. Jenny Rose and Kelly Klein
Dalton Castle def. Dragon Lee
On the pre-show, RUSH def. Flip Gordon.
The main event was fairly rushed, it didn't even go 10 minutes with Taven hitting a flash Climax and scoring the victory.
I'll see you all again for Final Battle. (If ROH is still around...)

Caught the Taven-Cobb match.
As I said earlier, it didn't go 10 minutes. Cobb dominated the early going, but Taven kept rolling out of the ring and slowing things down to prevent Cobb from gaining any momentum. The key point in the match came about three minutes in when Taven spat at Cobb from ring-side and caught him on the apron with an arm-breaker. Cobb sold the shoulder like a wounded animal, attempted to rally with a couple of slams but couldn't go on with it. Taven took advantage hitting three penalty kicks and two climaxes for the win.
The crowd was very quiet through out and there was only a few smatterings of 'Let's go Taven/Let's Go Cobb' chants through out.
It was the most underwhelming ROH Title match I've seen and I'd be surprised if there was much worse. Cobb looked like he choked and Taven barely looked troubled despite the obvious strength disadvantage.
I thought Baron Corbin-Seth Rollins was a much better match than this. According to Dave, that was a * match, if he was consistent, this would be negative 1.

Flip Gordon returning from injury for a poorly booked double swerve only to injure himself again on a stupid spot is the most Flip Gordon shit ever.
Saw the “highlights” on reddit. What a shit show. Just take this company out back and put two in its head already.
