Yeah, I'm kinda surprised by this, as System said, I thought they might have finally started coming around on Emma, given Asuka didn't out and out squash her.
Apparently, Summer Rae has been released as well, though that's less surprising.

Also Summer! Went to wwe.com to confirm and she was listed too. That one makes more sense but fuck. They ruined Asuka for no reason lol...

Maybe Emma was released because she made the matches with Asuka look better than they were suppose to be. WWE wanted it to be a quick dominate job. And maybe Emma was thinking "Fuck it being an easy job, I'm gonna make it better."
You know how much Vince makes a big deal out of small things.

But in that case, they surely wouldn't have been given as much time as they were and certainly not again the next night on RAW. Surprised at this one. WWE is WWE though. They probably suddenly decided they don't like her anymore again. Also, they probably blame her for the less than favourable reaction that Asuka's debut got. Yes, it was a decent match etc but not the first time I've seen people say she's been "ruined".

So they ruined Asuka for no reason. Great job, WWE.

I don't get it sometimes. I'm guessing she simply isn't part of their long-term plans. Considering her final few matches, it was a fantastic seeing someone else in that spot instead of Sasha/Bayley, etc.
If you follow her instagram, you'll know, Emma has a bright future as a fitness/swimsuit model. She'll be ok.

This is sad, especially since both Emma and Summer were two of the top three women (along with Paige) when NXT started its groove of presenting better women's wrestling and had its own women's title. Unfortunately, they got there (and on the main roster) before WWE realized they had a "revolution" on their hands and they just didn't get the opportunities afforded the women who came afterward.
I agree that it sucks in hindsight that Emma got released after her last two matches with Asuka being almost a 50-50 affair. There was definitely a fair bit of damage there with Asuka. So I hope they get jobbers week in and week out (or Dana Brooke) for Asuka to trash in the next few weeks.

You would think, given the calibre of her matches with Asuka, they would keep her around. Eventually Asuka is going to have to wrestle someone other than Bliss/Banks/Bayley on PPV.

I guess they're gonna have to call some women up, to make up the numbers. I think The Iconic Duo would fit in as replacements.

I don't know, they dropped her like a sack of shit when she was done for shoplifting. Bought her back, very quickly. But released her very quickly nonetheless. And then purposely botching the Emmalina gimmick.. you'd be disappointed if you were a writer, producer just doing their job - considering the production and investment made in those vignettes. I guess it comes down to, how well liked she was.

Sad to hear Emma is gone but it does makes sense. WWE probably sees three major failures on her record and decided it was time.
1. The Walmart incident (WWE quickly overreacted) 2. The Emmalina gimmick 3. Making Asuka look good. (They probably just told her to make her look good but didn't say how)

Why is making Asuka look good a bad thing? I think the theory is, they wanted Asuka to look invincible considering it was her debut. Rather than look competitive. Which is rubbish. If they wanted a squash, put Dana in the match.

Feel really bad for Emma. She tweeted a broken heart emoji.
But both releases are very sad and disappointing. With two performers like Emma and Summer, it's a no-brainer that they have a lot of worth in WWE - both are charismatic and can play characters. All they needed was mic time, segments, and character development to succeed...anything to clinch their teeth into and they would have run with it, as they both have in the past.
Both of these women did a lot for the women's division. Paige and the 4HW get more credit, but I look at Summer and Emma as the true pioneers of the NXT women's division. Summer Rae's NXT run fantastic. Her promos were great and the thought she put into them was refreshing. It was Summer that helped put Paige on the map with their feud and Sasha Banks on the map with their partnership. Summer is the type who can take any role and turn it to gold. Her work in the storyline with Rusev, Lana, and Ziggler was very entertaining...there are not many women in WWE who could have done well with that storyline like she did.
Emma was the most over performer, male or female, on the NXT roster at one point - even more over than Paige. Her face run was so infectious...it's a shame that the main roster stripped the character of all its layers and killed it from the get-go. I still say Emma should have become the first women's champion in NXT because, due to her character, she needed that added credibility as a wrestler more than Paige did. Her heel run when she returned to NXT was excellent; they did a great job building to the actual heel turn. The partnership with Dana Brooke and feud with Asuka was one of my favorite women's storylines in the last few years. NXT did a truly great job rebuilding Emma for a couple months to lead into the Takeover match with Asuka.
Even worse than main roster writing/booking ruining Emma's face character, was the Emmalina 'gag'. It was a complete sabotage and it's sad that they did that to a young wrestler trying to live her dream. When the writer who came up with it and actually had ideas for it (Tom Casiello) was fired a couple days before the original Emmalina debut date was set last December, Emma no longer had someone backing the character or her return. From there, there was never any plans to do anything with the character and they took no issue with making a 'joke' of it while a hungry-for-success wrestler sat at home. If they didn't want to do the Emmalina character, it was so easy to write themselves out of it and have her quickly return as Emma, but instead they intentionally dragged it out for no reason. Emma was injured in May 2016, cleared in late August 2016, but didn't have her first match back until April 2017 - unacceptable.
Such wasted opportunities with both women. Characters like Emma and Summer are what is missing from the women's division today.

No words, no words right now.
Gives Asuka 2 pretty bloody good main roster matches and then gets shown the door. I uh.... Well it's good I bought some Halloween candy and there's ice cream in the house.

So what does Emma do now?
Is she capable of pulling a Cody, and becoming a star without the WWE?

When Alexa mentioned cutting Mickie James. And Angle said it is a shame when anyone has to lose their job. I wonder was that in reference to her.

It's been said, that the reason for Emma's release was because she wasn't very well liked backstage and because she was vocal on social media with regards to her frustrations.
I can kind of understand that.

So theyre mad she actually wanted to do more than be a backstage character? and i guess the fact that fans were behind her trending #GiveEmmaAChance is a bad thing? I swear WWE is ridiculous.

I can understand wanting full creative control. when you give me bs gimmicks like Emmalina, i'd definitely want to be sure that i didnt have to deal with that again.
hopefully they can work something out next year.

First class tickets, I like Emma, but shit, those first class tickets are probably worth more than her $2000 fee in some cases.
She needs to do a Drew Galloway, work your ass off for the next 2 years and show the world, you're a star.
