Finally watched Episodes 2 & 3 of Carnyland. The Mayoral storyline gave it a much-needed hook.
Highlight was May Valentine's story about her friend almost marrying a shady magician in Vegas. A story like that has got to be true.
I also liked Sal in Episode 2 and the Danny Deals/Slick Nick segment to close Episode 3.
As for the Mayoral race, it's always hard to go against Slick Nick, but I have to say the pro-fanny pack candidacies of Thom Latimer and Zicky Dice appeal to me.

Hey Baker , did you know that one of your NWA boys, Ricky Starks was on AEW Dynamite tonight? He challenged Cody for the TNT Title.

Hey Baker , did you know that one of your NWA boys, Ricky Starks was on AEW Dynamite tonight? He challenged Cody for the TNT Title. I was not aware of that. Good for him....I guess. I did predict a future NXT run for Starks pretty early on in Powerrr history. An AEW run is close enough. I also mentioned when @admin first broke the news of Starks leaving that it was a pretty big blow for NWA. They were building him up nicely as their up and coming babyface guy to be a future big challenge for Slick Nick. Aldis is on record as being a big Ricky Starks fan. In fact, it was Slick Nick who first "discovered" Starks and put him over to William Patrick Corgan. I wonder if Colt did much the same in hyping Starks to AEW management?

Ricky is close friends with Sammy Guevara so you could always put two and two together and see the Stroke Daddy in AEW. I listened to a podcast interview he did and I was struck by how driven he was to be known as one of the best. It was really earnest and endearing. Hope he goes well!

News today that in light of the Dave Lagana situation that all NWA talent have been granted exceptions to their contracts that allow them to seek bookings elsewhere for the next six months. Obviously it's a minor issue compared to the pandemic and #speakingout but you have to question the future of the promotion at this point.

Between corona killing #NWAPowerrr, then me falling so far behind on their interim content, and now Dave's deal... I think I might just be done and out on NWA. Hopefully I'll still casually follow whatever Slick Nick, Sick Zick, Kamille, and Thunderrr Rosa do. But... I dunno. Might've just been right place, right time, lightning in a bottle for me and NWA for those few months.

Finally watched the 4th (and final?) installment of Carnyland. I thought this was the best one yet. The mayoral race continues picking up steam and they've developed some amusing running gags. Stu Bennett is in a real life movie! Thunder Rosa was the star of this episode for me with her insults of Zicky Dice.

For what it's worth since you both mentioned her, Thunder Rosa has taken the opportunity to pivot her Mission Pro Wrestling into all-women's promotion which should be fun to follow. Women handling the production side of wrestling is something that is long overdue.

I had no idea Thunder Rosa had her own promotion. I'm mildly curious to see what the NWA talent does while their promotion is on hiatus.

Had a fairly quiet day at work so I stuck some NWA Powerrr on the TV.
Watched episodes 11 and 12.
I can get behind Aaron Stevens as a Mongrovian Karate master. That squash match he had was actually really good.
Nick Aldis is turning into the generic cowardly heel, ducking matches and setting up his own team of miscreants. Except the presentation is not so generic. The way he talked him way out of the Tim Storm match was pretty hilarious. Also good booking to give Tim Storm a strong win while not hurting Aldis.
I'm bored of the eternal stable vs stable feud in the women's division. Just give Thunder Rosa the belt already instead of wasting her time with goofs like ODB.

Despite Corgan's denial I think we have to be reasonably concerned with the future of the promotion. He will have been losing money (especially with falling Youtube views) in the hopes that he would be able to land a TV deal and that is obviously a long way off now. It's not a stretch at all to think that he would have become disillusioned with wrestling after his right hand man and #1 contender were outed for being creeps.
Hopefully they can come back after the pandemic but there are some pretty significant obstacles.

It does feel like a lot of the magic did die.
Here's hoping for the best for Sick Zick & Slick Nick at least. Would like to see them so things somewhere still.

They're relaunching next month with weekly PPV shows in association with CWFH (Dave Marquez's promotion). Not official yet but the newz is that shows will be $15 each which sounds absurdly expensive in today's market. $15 a month perhaps...

Turns out it's really basically just Marquez's dudes with a tiny assist from (what's left of) the NWA. Aldis and Kamille are the only two Power stars on the first card. Thunder Rosa will be on the second show.

I saw Slick Nick is defending the 10 Pounds of Gold against Mike Bennett in a few days. Is that part of the tv taping or a separate thing?

Shame Tony Khan hates Eli Drake or whatever because he'd be a champion for AEW because he looks money, speaks money and is money. Best talent NWA has. Put his foot down when Impact tried to make him do intergender and work vs Tessa and got fired for it.

Just watched Slick Nick put the 10 Pounds of Gold on the line against Mike Bennett, who looks very different from his ROH days, in an empty arena match. No spoilers other than there were two Tombstones and a Piledriver hit in this match.

Another slightly confusing "we're coming back" announcement today. They're starting a new show called Shockwave next week but the "unseen matches" comment makes it sound like it might just be stuff from old Power tapings/the UWN PPVs that haven't been shown before rather than an entirely cohesive show? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Caught Shockwave a few hours late. Anybody else watch? It's hardly must see and lacked the charm of Powerrr. No Into The Fire A whole lot of our old favorites were absent from the intro. Show started with The Champ and ended with The Champ. I can appreciate that. Joe Galli and Alissa(?) provided commentary. All matches took place in an empty arena which wasn't the usual Powerrr venue. 1. Eli Drake defeated Joe(?) Cruz with his usual Kryptonite Krunch finisher. Cruz somewhat resembled a young Paul London if ROH London had tattoos. He didn't show much. Basically just served as a broomstick for Eli Drake to do stuff to. Eli Drake is hurt more than most by the empty arena setting since he thrives on crowd interaction. Not gonna lie. It was pretty sad seeing him do his E-Li-Drake taunt in an empty arena. 2. Kamille defeated Heather Monroe with a Spear. Monroe had a flamboyant male manager who would have been right at home on the LPWA show I watched last night. NWA did a great job of building Kamille early on but they lost the plot at some point. Normally I am all for working a body part, but badass Kamille getting her arm worked over and going 50/50 with a "no name" seems awfully counterproductive. Nearly every move Heather Monroe did involved landing on her back. It became amusing after a while. Nothing but back cracker and code breaker variations all match long. This match is a good example of why star ratings are stupid. It was better than the Eli Drake match from a traditional standpoint, but much worse when it came to showcasing the wrestler they actually want to push. 3. Nick Aldis defeated Mike Bennett with the King's Lynn Cloverleaf. Actually skipped this because I watched it a while back. Don't hate me, Champ! Bennett cut a good promo leading up to the match. I know he's not popular, and never has been, but I wouldn't mind seeing him stick around NWA. He fits the NWA style and Maria is a good personality....or at least was back when I watched Maria/Bennett in mid 2010s ROH.
