Vince McMahon makes MAJOR announcement about Wrestlemania 37
Tampa, FL - Before the Hall of Fame dinner on Thursday night, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon announced that Wrestlemania 37 would be taking place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The stadium, not yet complete (scheduled to open sometime in July), is the new home of the Los Angeles Rams and is capable of holding over 100,000 fans for a wrestling event.

The announcement comes as no surprise to many in the know, who have been speculating that the stadium would host the event since before the first shovel broke ground. Representatives of SoFi Stadium have been in talks with the WWE to host the event for many months, and this confirmation from Vince was just a formality on what was an obvious choice for next year's event.

However, the news came with a bigger announcement, one that many thought would never be possible: Wrestlemania is now a two night event.

The annual tradition of a Wrestlemania weekend NXT Takeover event is no more. Instead, Wrestlemania will take place over two nights, April 4th & 5th, 2021, and all 3 brands (Raw, Smackdown and NXT) will compete over the course of the weekend in front of a sure-to-be record-breaking audience.

"To be cliché, NXT doesn't need to Take Over anymore. They have taken over," Vince said during his press conference. "They have been an official brand of the WWE family for several months now, and come this time next year, they will not only be an integral part of the WWE Universe, but fighting for the top spot on the podium."

Smackdown and Raw will also take place on their regular nights from SoFi Stadium that weekend, making the entire event a very special 4-day spectacle. During question period, Vince alluded to Smackdown being "the preview for what's to come," before the big 2-night weekend, followed by the "season premiere" that is Monday Night Raw.

There's a lot to look forward to, but that's for another time, because Wrestlemania 36 is right around the corner, and Tampa is ready and rocking.

I got as far as mashing out a card for Night 1 and then forgot about it entirely until just now.
