For now until a new variant emerges.
Although the origin of COVID now has moved to the Ukraine with the GOP claiming it was a cold war era bioweapon the US created to use against Russia that leaked from a Ukraine lab.

Didn't a city in China just go back into lockdown?
It feels like this shit is over.
I said something incredibly mean spirited the other day. Covid-19 is a privileged country problem, as for third world and developing Nations, it was just another thing on the long list of stuff trying to kill you, and now in the advent of global conflict - it's almost a non-issue.
Meaning, we've spent two years worrying about a glorified flu because everything else was pretty good.

A lot of places that did not vaccinate are going back into lockdowns. Those that did vaccinate have no reason to as the hospitals can handle the surge. And that is what it is all about really, whether or not places can handle a surge in hospitalizations due to COVID.
The reason China is suffering so bad now is their vaccinate rate is around 38 percent.
As for it being just a flu - 6 million dead now. The average flu will kill 60k a year. Bit of different there.

Massive COVID breakthrough confirmed this week. COVID does not infect mice that were infected with Tuberculosis. Trials are needed but the BCG vaccine may actually work a true vaccine against COVID. Even if it does not, this is a pathway to finding the exact target needed for a true vaccine.

COVID will likely keep coming back yearly in different odd variants cycles like the flu. If they are right and the BCG vaccine can stop it from really doing anything after it infects you though then we basically beat it unless it evolves to escape immunity, which is not very likely.

c, didn't you get the memo? Covid isn't a thing. No one cares anymore. My Province (like many others) just dropped the mask mandate Mar 15. When I was out and about it was probably 90% mask wearing. Drive 2 hours South to Grand Forks North Dakota and I think I've seen 10 masks total. And essentially have been out and about 2 days straight. North Dakota is an extremely red State (I've had family here my whole life). Makes me wonder if anyone here wore masks at all.

3 out of my group of 10 friends is positive. One whose 50th birthday we celebrated on Saturday. I tested today and so far negative. I don’t know what current incubation period is though. Plus only doing house tests right now and those are notorious for false negatives. My one friend is very sick but she’s a smoker so it’s lingering in her lungs.

Incubation period seems to be 3-5 days still. At least that's what it says on the thing I read today. I picked up a rapid test kit today (it was negative but I'm going to do it again tomorrow because I don't trust these things as far as I can throw them) because I was feeling shitty all day then started to develop a cough. And my throat was swollen. And then my back started to hurt. Pretty sure I have it. THANKS A LOT, BILLIE EILISH. Although that was almost a week ago and my symptoms just started. I might have caught it somewhere else, if I even have it.

Man, the crazy media shit my mom listens to is freaking out about this new form of COVID called stealth omicron that suddenly popped in China <.< She absolutely insists it is a new variant that will cause a new wave despite it being the predominate variant in the US for two months now. Crazy media claiming this will be how they force people to get injections and lock down the US again.

So China back in lockdown and Tenn just make ivermectin an over the counter drug because:
"It’s a lot safer to go to your pharmacist and let him tell you how much ivermectin to take than it is to go to the co-op and guess what size horse you are." Ironic this is the one area of harm reduction the GOP supports. Also new hybrid spreading Xe with a lot of funky mutations.
So weird these outbreaks always seem to grow after 6 months, almost like those boosters were effective or something. States in the US that voted against funding COVID stuff are not complaining they do not have the money to keep up COVID testing or treatment.

So about that whole evolving to being less lethal stuff? Over 100 kids, majority aged 3 to 5, in several countries in the last few months had severe hepatitis without the pressure of one of the known hepatitis viruses. Either we have an highly contagious and lethal adenovirus the likes of which we ever seen before spreading globally (likely that recombined with COVID), or Omicron BA.2 evolved to wreck the liver (likeby by recombining with an adenovirus at some point). Testing ruled out hepatitis viruses already, and geographical spread seems to rule out environment.
So far cases reported in the UK, Scotland, Alabama, an unnamed second US state and Spain with no connection between the people. The cases reported are the ones that require hospitalization and people are now just starting to put the pieces together that this may be something to start paying attention to. Kids with subcritical levels of liver damage will present with stomach aches and the damage can go unnoticed until routine blood work shows elevated liver functioning counts.
Most of the US will not return to precautions if there is a new virus or variant. We reach the thoughts and prayers phase of this pandemic. BA.2 is spreading here now, so if it is this variant killing kids, we will know very soon. One thing is certain though, the US is running out livers rapidly and pig liver transplants are still not ready.

Why is it, those who opposed the vaccination mandates are the only people suddenly suffering from newly discovered chronic illnesses?

I leave my house maybe once a week and what happens? I catch The VID man! I've been sick since Tuesday and have tested negative Tues-Thurs but this morning it was SUPER positive. Now my mom has hosed everything down with Lysol and I am relegated to the basement...in my own house! Honestly, I can't remember the last time I was this sick.
