America seemed to soak up all the socialism when it came to free testing, vaccination and treatment for COVID for two years.  Trump was the greatest socialist president since FDR in the end.

So my boss reports my VID to head office. Not sure why since I'm working from home.  Then they get a nurse to call me even though I told them I had no voice and it hurt to talk.  :suspic:

And after knowing that my boss tries calling me.  USE THE FUCKING ISNTANT MESSENGER!  

I gave the VID to my mom. She is very sick. I feel like a heel.

The Omicron is nowhere near as bad, I'm sure she'll be fine.

She seems to be doing better than I did with it, but I just hate seeing her laid up and unwell. I quarantined myself to the basement and even wore a mask and hosed the place down with Lysol and she still caught it.

I'm on day 6 and while I am better, I am definitely not 100%. There were a couple of days I was so weak I couldn't even stand upright without supporting myself on a wall or something. I don't remember being this unwell in a decade or more.

It seems to be totally random how it affects people. I know unhealthy and healthy people who have been knocked on their ass and I know of others who had a sore throat for a day and then painted their house for the rest of their isolation.

Seriously hope you both fully recover. I was sick two weeks ago and still have a cough that won’t go away. I tested negative twice but I’m convinced I had it. Of course my entire family also got sick but the kids kicked it in a couple days and Mrs RT caught it late (last week) and is just now feeling better.

TuesDAY is was at about a 85% then I went for an evening nap and when I woke up my sinuses were all gunked up and I was back to about 70% and I seem to be going backwards because today I'm sound and feel worse and I'm down to about 60%. Mom is almost recovered and talking about going back to work on Monday, but her symptoms were not as bad as mine (thankfully). I've been working through it since I am at home, but highly annoyed.

Covid is over.

For people in the US, make sure you get the free tests while the government is offering them. They will not last and when we need them again there will supply crunches since Congress is not funding prevention.


For this Monkeypox outbreak people should be a little concerned. It does not spread like it is currently is traditionally. Of course the US right is already all in on hoax so we will gladly incubate this. Vaccine already is done, and is coupled with smallpox for extra effectiveness. The US ordered 12 million doses, but will not be delivered until late 2023. Traditional smallpox vaccine is 85% effective.

Expected spread is a lot like we assumed COVID spread. Water particulars at close range. Then 10 days of incubation before symptoms. Then most noted symptoms are pox, or painful blisters, and fever.

Treatment is almost always effective, if taken. Again, not a given in the US at least. Tecovirimat will be the go to. Lethality if left untreated is between 1 and 10 percent.

This should not spread wide, but it also should not spread the way it is. Last US outbreak was 71 people. Did not leave the US. This is moving a lot and spreading in host countries. Believe Australia makes 9 countries.


Think the media is overblowing this, as while it is spreading, we already dealt with this and it's far, far more deadlier form smallpox. At the worst, the US right will die if this spreads wides from refusing treatment. Everyone else will take a few pills and be fine, or likely vaccinated against it.


For interested, route of transmission is from Nigeria where this is an endemic still, to the UK, splitting off from there.  The real concern is how easy this broke out of the endemic region, since things like polio or African trypanosomiasis are also endemic in parts of the world.

Covid steamrolling my office lately. Also skipped out on a family bbq on sunday because my brother's baby mama is positive and mom said it's up to me but not to worry as kids can't spread it (lol?). Everyone getting COVID now - that new strain is super contagious plus no one really cares anymore to stop spread.

We have influenza ripping through the community and still record Covid numbers but the universal consensus is the flu is way worse.

In the states COVID still causing long COVID in 20% of cases. Flu does not leave lasting damage.

A bit feverish and a cough. My wife wasn’t feeling well the past few days but didn’t have many symptoms outside a cough. She’s feeling a bit better but probably has it too. I was fine until this morning.

Wife & I are taking son to a super spreader family dinner later today. Looking forward to finally joining the covid club!

Finally joined Club Covid. Been feeling mildly under the weather since Thursday. Tested positive today.
