For the first time in months neither @admin or I were around to do a proper Powerrr Circle Squared party thread. Oh well. Better late than never. Gotta admit I skimmed through this one. Only watched the Circle Squared stuff and skipped the talkie parts. May watch the rest later.
First match was Colby Corino(!), as in "The Son of Steve," vs. George South(!!). Whoa! George South is basically the closest thing to getting Tony Falk himself. South was a top tier jobber in 80s Crockett who would go on to run his own North Carolina based indie promotion in the 90s- the creatively named Professional Wrestling Federation. The Apter Mags gave them a bit of a coverage in 95-96.
Colby looks like a dead ringer for his father. Same bleach blonde hair. Same beard. Same eyes. Only differences are he is even skinnier and has a lot of tattoos. He cuts a babyface promo. I saw Colby a few years back when he was a semi-regular jobber in ROH. He took a good beating but did nothing else of note.
George South looks and sounds like a grumpy grandpa. He wears a jacket with a random mishmash of well-known logos. It's rather reminiscent of Scott Steiner's WWF pants. South has only one tone- SHOUTING. He's the heel. You know this because he tells the crowd to SHUT UP like 67 times.
Colby & South have known each other a long time. Colby was arrested for heroin four years ago and has been clean for two years. This is surprisingly the first time South has EVER cut a promo in an NWA promotion. It had long been a dream of his.
We get the same stupid talking head reaction segments as last time. 🤯 The Kid might be among them this time. Allysin Kay & Eli Drake also give their thoughts. Not a fan of this blatant breach of kayfabe. Eli has really good comments throughout the show though. Strikes me as a guy who would make a great coach/trainer one day.
Colby & South have a match straight out of 1983. South applies The Claw(!) FOUR times. He also hits a textbook Butterfly Suplex and an old school airplane spin. Colby didn't do much, and was a kind of a blank slate, but he picked up the win with a rollup.

Next up we have Freya The Slaya and Dani Jordan. Freya is a big girl from Alaska. And that's basically her gimmick- "big girl from Alaska." She wears an "Alaskan" style jacket and talks about Alaska.....a lot. Freya is a damn fine name for a female wrestler, but "The Slaya" part is way too try hard.
Dani is short and fiery. She seems comfortable on the mic. Dani does a "Mean Girls" gimmick and carries a notebook ("Burn Book") that I assume relates to the movie? Unfortunately, I am always several decades behind when it comes to pop culture, so I know nothing of these things. Much of her promo is cruel Alaska-bashing which got me on the side of Freya. Mission accomplished, I guess?
The talking heads pretty much roast Freya's promo in as polite a way as possible. "What's her name?!? She never told us."- Basically every talking head. Gotta admit that was a major fail by Freya. Dani had no such trouble. And even if she would have, it would not have mattered because her name was on her shirt. Oh, a lot of the crowd seemed to already know Dani. Is she a big name on the indie scene? E Li Drake once again provides the best comments.
The match itself told a big babyface vs. pesky little heel story. Freya had like a foot on Dani, and controlled most of the way. Dani would occasionally kick Freya's leg. And that would come into play when her leg gave out on a bodyslam attempt. The thought was nice, but it wasn't executed all that well. I thought it was a botch at first. Freya won with a Michinoku Driver outta nowhere.

Much like last time, everybody was ok, but nobody really stood out as great (or terrible).
