Massive TLOU2 spoilers that look like they might be real after today's leaks.
Joel dies. Ellie dies. You play as Abby (daughter of the surgeon you kill in the first) for half the game, getting revenge. Takes a look at how Joel and Ellie can be seen as villains.
That sounds like an awesome approach, but some people are going to be pissed

Well since I got leaked online Hate that they are flipping course with this, game is advertised as playing as Ellie. Who cares about a random surgeon, especially one I didn't want to kill but the game forced me to and treated a punch like it's death. That's awful. I am fine with both Joel and Ellie dying I mean but the first part of the game sounds like an absolute nightmare to play with.

In regards to TLOU2 because I got fucking spoiled by a random twitter post: I could give a fuck who you play as so long as the game makes sense. The story actually sounds really interesting from what I saw, and I like a bit of a different approach. People are flipping out because they’re mad at Naughty Dog and the Very Online Gamer community are some of the worst people on the planet. I’m really fucking pissed that I got spoiled. I haven’t looked forward to a game this much in ages and who knows if I ever will again. I’m really mad guys. Like, why are people like this?

Sandra is heaps hyped for the game and has been trying to dodge spoilers left & right but it’s a lost cause considering how far away it is. People were posting memes spoiling Endgame as soon as it opened and people got spoiled who only had to wait hours...not months. Even a YT channel I sub to that annoys me with movie spoilers kinda did it. Very mild spoilers Saying people are disappointed and outraged at a game in your headline makes people wonder why that is and what caused it!

Every major plot development including the ending.
Basically everything they've shown in the trailers to promote the game has been misleading.
{Spoiler} It's far worse than MGS2 which actually turned out to be a clever subversion that many fans look back on positively.
This is really challenging gamers to re-examine characters they grew a strong bond with and try to empathise with somebody who doesn't gel with the heteronormative world views of the general populace.
It's two extremely tough pills to swallow, especially in a game that was advertised with a bi-sexual if not homosexual lead female character.

Is there any chance the TLOU2 leaks can be moved to another thread?

Is there any chance the TLOU2 leaks can be moved to another thread? I was just thinking this too. We should move this somewhere else. Who’s in charge around here? I have analogies that are better than the game you mentioned but I’m holding off until we talk elsewhere because even that discussion could give details away.

I have analogies that are better than the game you mentioned but I’m holding off until we talk elsewhere because even that discussion could give details away. Continue? 🤔 RDR2 spoilers in case you haven’t played it yet: Arthur dies at the end of the main story and you finish the game playing as John Marston, the guy from the first game. Arguably the biggest game of the 2010’a pulled something similar and people loved it.
Yeah it sounds like TLOU2 has less play time as Ellie than people expected, but why jump to conclusions? Maybe it’s an awesome twist. Maybe it’s an awesome story and this other character is fine. Maybe they did it in a logical manner and this is extending the universe so we get MORE GAMES. Maybe fucking play the game before you decide you hate it.

I haven’t looked forward to a game this much in ages and who knows if I ever will again. I’m really mad guys. Like, why are people like this? I could care less about playing a transgender character or if Naughty Dog really wanted to have LGBT character for the sake of diversity, won't judge a game for that at all. What I will judge it for is making such an unimportant character like random surgeon the root of why the two biggest characters have to die in the sequel. They can use the whole "Bloodlusted" plotline but it was Marlene's Fireflies that begged Joel to take Ellie and protect her with their life from the start of it all. Making them the bad guys just because they murdered a surgeon that was set to kill Ellie even if for the greater good is ridiculous and is actually worse than doing Raiden for MGS2 just because. This game at least plot wise feels more like a soap opera than it does survival horror IMO. Druckmann is trying to get too cute.
How does he let Nathan Drake get to back away from UC4 without dying yet decides to go and do this? This is like Jeff the Cameraman from UC2's child getting revenge in killing Elena and Drake because Jeff died while in action. They ended UC4 the proper way but this seems like shock value at it's absolute worst. So many better ways this could have been done, Ellie could have killed Joel before TLOU2 begins after finding that Joel cost humanity's it's shot of surviving and having Joel as a moral conscience in Ellie's head throughout and there for every hard decision humanly possible.
And the child of the surgeon KNOWS Ellie is the last hope of humanity with her blood and still decides to kill her because her father died? Wut. At least the antagonist besides Fireflies did not know what Ellie means and that she is immune to being infected. Plotholes galore. [/spoiler]

I’m guessing there are more to the leaks than I know. All I know is pretty much what Blindy said in his post. Are there more details about the story I don’t know about? Because saying the entire story is shit before actually knowing the entire story is kind of silly.
I want to find out the why of what happens to the characters before I decide if I like the story or not.
And honestly, the story in the first game was pretty predictable and wasn’t the main reason I liked the game. It was an awesome survival horror game, story aside.

I'm still getting it day one and I am glad I have not been spoiled about all of the new infected types that have been promised but I really, really hope what I saw is a pure false flag and that more has been hidden. I saw some bullet points of the biggest events and was so bummed out that I checked out.
Getting the game for like 50 bucks so I can't push that away, it's coming next month I will be good.
Hate that humans once again take prevalence over the infected, the infected SHOULD be the no.1 enemy of the world, especially if the setting is 5 years after the fact that and the amount of infected should dwarf the amount of living by this point and time.

Since we've got spoiler tags in the title I'm just going to give a heads up now that any TLoU2 spoilers are fair game as long as they remain in this thread.
{Spoiler} I've seen clips and have been following the reviews and discussion online.
It seems like they tried their best to surprise fans, but they added so much unnecessary politics to it that they forgot how to make a compelling post-apocalyptic game. It's just more of the same, except they've replaced a lot of the charming side characters with miserable 'diverse' characters.
I've seen a lot of clips that just seem to be in there for the sake of shock value and the overall theme and message seems to get muddled in the mix of it.
Killing off a major character that everyone sympathised with was always going to be difficult, you had to really make that sacrifice worth it.

This is what happens when you let a small vocal minority dictate your creative choices. Same thing happened to Battlefield V:

Again, I'm the one person minority here.
I was lucky, got my copy a day early and at the moment I'm still on furlough so I've had time to play. I managed to avoid everything game related, including trailers/spoilers/reviews etc. just so I could go in with a fresh outlook and take what I can from the game. I did see a spoiler about Joel dying, and I was fine with that. I thought it'd be later in the game, but oh boy. I was devastated, not going to lie that I had to stop and compose myself about 4 times before I could continue, the shock value for someone like me who didn't see/read spoilers is huge and I know it's the same for some of my friends.
I'm not done with the game, it's far larger than I expected but I'm liking what I've played so far. I'll report back when I'm done, but I am loving it so far.
There's always the danger with a massively hyped, highly anticipated game that there are going to be people who are massively disappointed, you cannot please everyone but as I said, once I'm done I'll be back to report.

I didn’t enjoy the first game, so I was never planning on buying this. I’ve read what happens in the story though - some parts of it sound so ridiculous, I couldn’t tell if it was genuine or if someone was just making weird stuff up.
What I’ve seen/read definitely doesn’t make me want to give it a try!

Yeah Rogue is in the clear and I'm glad she was able to break the ice, I didn't want to spoil her experience and I'm looking forward to hearing her perspective.
I've been reading about it around the web and watching reviews and the whole thing just sounds awful to me. The timing couldn't be any worse either, nobody wants this miserable story.

Going to stay away from a lot of this despite being spoiled weeks ago. Not a fan of how they introduce this new protagonist, absolutely MGS2 Raiden like by putting you in control of her with almost no reason but the gameplay thus far is as expected, very good. Had I not known who this is or the importance of said character, I would have been "HUH? Who are you?"

I have played about 7 hours of the game so far. I didn’t like the start because it felt like a Telltale game, which I absolutely love but I enjoyed the first TLOU because it was so different to a lot of other games I played and I loved the father/daughter relationship as no other game really does that, they always concentrate on relationship dynamics. I don’t mind about LGBT, if they want Ellie to have a girlfriend and travel together. Awesome! But I didn’t want another romance focused game, I really wanted more of Joel and Ellie together. Then the game forces you to play as the person who kills Joel. Like it’s bullshit. They ruined the characters of Joel and Tommy, they would never have trusted someone so openly and quick to reveal their names instantly and go to their ‘home’. Ellie and Dina is cute together, but I don’t really like the Dina character herself. She’s too childish considering her age/situation. And constant whinges about the dead bodies they come across yet she had to kill someone from the age of 10, she should be used to it really. I just miss Joel as it was my favourite character and he deserved so much than this quick and bullshit send off. I don’t agree with the spamming of bad reviews without actually playing the game. There is no way most of them have played the game.

Right, I certainly have no intention of minimizing your opinion of the game, just that the review bombing on meta has been absolutely motivated by homophobia/bigotry and the typical alt right idiocy/paranoia, and there are receipts to back it up. As far as your issues with the game so far, I am only an hour in, so I can't really say one thing or the other. Other than that I really enjoyed the opening and have a really positive impression of Abby so far. Losing a character you obviously enjoyed so much though does seem like it would suck and could detract from the enjoyment you could get from the game...particularly if the way he went out was as seemingly out of character as you suggest. Hope it's able to turn a corner for you as you play more.

I just miss Joel as it was my favourite character and he deserved so much than this quick and bullshit send off. I don’t agree with the spamming of bad reviews without actually playing the game. There is no way most of them have played the game. Exactly. I am 6 hours in and with the exploration and story, I feel like I am playing Life is Strange with Ellie as Max and Deena as Chloe. Oh my gawd, lets go smoke weeeeed and be rebellious and start to kiss while we were just being chased by runners outside in a blizzard. And I liked Life is Strange too a lot actually, just that does not go hand in hand with survival horror/action. AND AGREED with the name part, I said the same exact thing. How many years has it been since this outbreak happened? And they would give up their IDENTITY AND SAY WHERE THEIR FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE("They are about a couple miles off of here", The fuck would you say that? Could be hunters or more of David's crew.). Although, Abby's face when Joel introduced his name was hilarious, in fact all of the facial animations are pretty funny. Abby looks like Lola Bunny from one of the New Looney Tunes. Especially when Owen said he impregnated someone else, she was giving that psycho GF look she is such a annoyance so hoping this character is sorta brought back in a better light because thus far, I absolutely detest the character even knowing (via spoilers) why she did what she did. Overall though, I like the open world exploration they went with this game, not that there are fetch quests but there are additional side content runs that I did about 5-6 of that I got rewarded with a shotgun and a lot of supplements/screws and ammo. Think that is a plus and of course the acting is great which ND always gets right, did laugh 1-2 of Deena and Ellie's interaction. I just hate the part that I am at that 2 of the main 8 WLF died without me doing a single thing(One already died, one killed in a cutscenes), thought you'd be facing off with a few of them in a boss battle of some sorts.
