Personally, I never enjoyed Pac-Man that much, and very rarely played it. However the multiplayer Pac-Man Battle Royale, found in most arcade bars, is incredibly fun, and as Lionheart said, I have a knack for it despite playing very little of the original game.

Also I had no idea the ghosts had their own AI until researching the game.

Of course I played Pac-Man. Pretty sure everybody in my generation played Pac-Man at least once. I even knew the ghosts had names and AI! Pretty sure I learned this from my older cousin, an early computer nerd, about a decade ago.

My favorite version of Pac-Man was not the original but another Intellivision knockoff- this one called Lock 'N Chase. Spent many hours over the years playing this Intellivision classic....



Never played Asteroids. When it came up in an earlier Emperor post I just assumed it was the original version of another Intellivision knockoff- this one called Astrosmash. But a bit of research reveals that is not the case. Astrosmash was more like a cross between Asteroids and Space Invaders Armada. This game also got a lot of play in the Baker household, though not as much as the sublime Lock 'N Chase....

God, Pac-Man gives me flashbacks to the arcade games at Joe's Pizza. Those sounds, sights, smells, and tastes are what nostalgia are made of.

So far into these reveals, my order of preference and consequently time logged playing goes: Pac-Man, Pong, Asteroids, and Space Invaders.

I'm praying I was smart enough to think of all these oldies-but-goodies for my submission. Guess I'll have to wait patiently until The Good Doctor elects to update...

Lock 'N' Chase looks pretty interesting. An important mechanic is that you can stop! It's a surprisingly useful ability. Pretty sure you can't stop in Pac-Man, and sometimes the forced movement is his undoing.

Pac-Man is the game I was kicking myself for not putting on my list. As soon as I say the graphic for the thread I was like that going to cost me.

It is 2020 and their are still versions of this game on nearly every gaming platform.

Last game my mom attempted to play was some version of Pac-man on the amazon firestick.

It's a fun little game. Very addicting. I was the best player among my peers. We used to keep high scores written in the guidebook that came with the game. I had something like 45 of the Top 50. Maybe more tbh. The guy in the Youtube video was about on par with me. Maybe even better?

Stopping is cool. But having the ability to 'lock' the doors is what really put this game above Pac-Man. It's also what put the 'Lock' in Lock 'N Chase. The prizes were also cool. I like how you got a new prize every level. You're not gonna find that in Pac-Man! Pac-Man: The poor man's Lock 'N Chase. Fact!

Emp wasn't kidding about liking every post in this thread. I see he is even liking his own posts. Now THAT is commitment to the gimmick. 

Can’t believe I managed to get PacMan at 3 as well 😂 not knowing the scores for this is killing me, but I love the suspense haha

I’ve never actually enjoyed playing PAC-Man, probably cause I suck at it. But no denying that it has influenced a lot.

Honestly though, I have no idea what anyone is talking about. Is the horrible mess of text the phone app displays on the first page meant to be a table of some sort? What is so special about it? Why does everyone keep talking about the table?

Pac-Man is the first video game mascot I can recall. Maybe there was some other obscure character but they haven't endured the years of fame Namco's yellow ball was able to. I've never played the arcade original, just the odd PC port so I'm not sure if I'm missing out on anything. However, what is there to miss? You play as a ball navigating around a maze and trying to line it up so you can activate the power-up at just the right time.

I heard the 360 re-release was supposed to be awesome, basically the Tetris Effect of it's day.

🤯 has ruined the table magic. He's also ruined the scores beyond comprehension.

It's still 0-0-0-0-0-0-0. Nobody named any of the games. You all suck.
