I miss when wrestling made sense. HHH took out Angle for Steph and business and then lulled Shane into a false sense of security and took him out for the same reasons. Braun didn't like it. Blah, blah, blah.

What a lame match. Fuck young talent. It always revolves around the McMahons. No matter what.
Bleh.

That finish tarnished what would've been an excellent night of action.

That ending.
Me, I like a SS match that comes down the wire. 1 v 1 ending, instead that 3 on 1 killed most of the heat and another douche-bag McMahon ending ruined otherwise a good match. It could have almost been a classic, considering the talent in the ring - an all-star show - instead, they chose the McMahon/Helmsley thing, again.

I miss when wrestling made sense. This made sense. HHH wanted all the glory for himself and he hates Kurt. So he Pedigrees him lets Shane pin Kurt then takes Shane out. HHH accomplishes both of his goals. Bruan feels like a pawn in HHH's plan and he reacts accordingly.

Braun made that ending to the show very very entertaining. Trips looked like he saw The Devil himself

I'm having trouble thinking of the last Survivor Series show that was this good. As much as I didn't care for the Raw vs SmackDown theme, the card was so stacked that it was virtually impossible for this show to suck.
I thought the main event was pretty fun, with the bulk of the match being made up of teases for dream matches. What did we get? Nakamura/HHH, Nakamura/Angle II, Roode/HHH, Joe/Cena, Nakamura/Balor, Orton/Balor and one final Angle/Cena match-up? It was like a Lollapalooza of wrestling matches. Ultimately the match boiled down to Strowman steamrolling everyone and HHH one-upping the other GMs. Considering the talent involved, I can understand fans feeling like they didn't get their moneys worth. However, given the creative going in, I was OK with the direction they went with. Strowman is their guy at the moment, so they're putting a lot of eggs in that basket, meanwhile guys like Joe, Balor, Nakamura and Roode are talented enough to remain over despite questionable booking. Plus, next time they have a Survivor Series epic, it won't feel stale or old-hat.
Styles/Brock was fantastic and everything it needed to be. Brock absolutely destroyed Styles out of the gates, making the 'greatest performer' look silly before AJ won his respect with a valiant comeback. Thought the timing and the way the match was put together was great and I dug some of the 'messy' reversals they had in there. That spot where Brock just dead-weighted Styles on the Tornado DDT counter was so out of left-field that it actually made the fight seem more realistic. Talk about your Match of the Year contenders, there's one right there from the WWE.
Rest of the show was good, albeit there was a glass ceiling on a lot of those matches. Once Raw went up 2-0, the rest of the undercard was pretty predictable and the 5 man commentary booth became grating after awhile.

I just hope that come Survivor Series next year, they ditch the 5-man mixed announce desk. One man from RAW, one from Smackdown, and Corey Graves as the middle man would have been enough. Michael Cole was enough play-by-play that Tom Phillips barely got a word in. And I could only watch most of the other matches with a reduced volume because of Booker T's inane rants that always seemed to never end! With Corey, Michael, and Byron also trying to get a word in, I was done with the commentary during the first match.

Once Shield and New Day really got going, it was a lot of fun. I like the way they worked the match, with Shield appearing to be cruising to a routine victory like in the old days, then New Day thwarting them, coming back to life, and dominating the match. Only for them to mess about for too long, giving The Shield a crucial opening which they took and never looked back. Not on the level of Shield's best from their first run, but a very good match to kick off the show.
Wasn't really feeling Usos vs Sheamus/Cesaro. As much as people pimp The Bar, the handful of matches I've seen from them haven't been anything specal.
Styles vs Lesnar was fantastic. Once again, Lesnar brings the authenticity to his matches and Styles is the perfect guy to be completely dominated, take huge bumps, yet still make a believable comeback and get in some great near falls. Once Lesnar kicked out of the first forearm, you could see the finish coming a mile away, but it was still cool.
I enjoyed all the teases and the taunting in the opening minutes of the main event, but it got worse as the match went on and by the end it was stupid WWE McMahon bickering nonsense.

I thought the show was a really good fun show with one great match. With that said I hate the main event. It was awful. A complete dud. Hated how it was just a way to make Shane look better than everyone else on SD & to further the HHH/Angle that I don’t have any interest in at all. Hate that they will take a spot on the WM Card next year. If we have to have HHH on the WM Card, I would much rather see him face Braun.

Shane wasn't made to look strong though. He was shown to be a guy in over his head who thought he could take on Braun Strowman and proceeded to get laughed at by HHH. The entire match was put together to make Strowman look a cut above everyone else and for HHH to steal credit off of Kurt Angle. They sacrified some stars along the way, but I'd much prefer a middle of the road SS match than a wannabe epic when the heat just isn't there.

I really enjoyed the show, until about the ten minute mark of the main event. And then all I could think was how this felt like a WWF version of the heyday of WCW. Too much emphasis on old guys, except it revolves around the McMahons and Triple H. Why can't the main roster just be aboue wrestling the way the nxt shows seem to be.

Shane being the last man for Team Smackdown doesn't automatically mean he's booked stronger than everyone else. I don't think he was even tagged into the match until everyone else got pinned, so he never got a chance to be eliminate. Meanwhile everyone else got wrecked by Braun Strowman (and Angle/Balor in Cena's case). When Shane got in the ring with Angle, his long string of offense was ineffective and as soon as Angle got a chance, he had him beat with the ankle lock. Weird that Shane is treated as a non-wrestler against Angle, but when he faces other wrestlers he's on the same level

It wasn’t just the in-ring, but I didn’t like how easily Shane got Owens & Zayn to run off. Made their interference look pointless and made them look stupid.

I like the positive spin in this thread! Everywhere else is simply focusing on the way NXT boys were treated. Can't really disagree, but hey.

They were all made to look strong. Yes, I will agree that it should not have been HHH, Angle vs Shane in the end, but Strowman was there and besides, from a WWE business POV they haven't earned their stripes QUITE yet. Sure they've been famous from TNA, NXT, New Japan, etc but not the main WWE shows. I mean anyone who was expecting any of them to outlive Cena, Orton, HHH or Angle was dreaming. It will happen but not yet.

Nakamura dominated the whole Raw team by himself before Strowman got in the ring. Roode was on even terms with Triple H. They got their fair share, about as strong as you can look for someone who gets eliminated early.

I think the problem is if you just look at the results without watching the match.
All the NXT guys were eliminated first and then it was just old timers and Shane waving their dicks around.

If they didn't actually watch the match, then I'd say who cares? The show wasn't meant for them and unless the agents completely ignored the build-up of the match, the match played out as expected.
No it didn't, it prevented Orton from getting the necessary tag away which led to his elimination. Also, it set up Shane-Owens/Zayn for a later date. Both Zayn/Owens accomplished their mission, Shane chasing them off with a chair doesn't undo any of that.
