So let me break it down for you.
Around May of 2020, an annonymous 4Chan user uploaded the Nintendo Wii source code and informed other users he had 2TB worth of data dating back to the NES. The story went cold until this past weekend when several more files were uploaded and it sent various social media platforms into a frenzy.
A couple of highlights
Yoshi's original creepy design.
Original Final Boss design for Yoshi Island. This would have sent me to the psych ward if I was a kid.
Super Donkey. It's theorised this was supposed to be a Donkey Kong Arcade Game re-imagining with Jumpman being his own character. Note the Yoshi Island aesthetic.
The story is developing, but the one thing that caught my eye was this post over on KiwiFarms.
Supposedly these are the dev tools companies used to design games. This could have huge ramifications on the AKI modding scene and we could see proper releases instead of No Mercy conversions.
That's just the surface. The big discoveries have been an unused Luigi model in Mario 64, original concept sprites of Gen IV Pokemon and demo releases. I haven't seen anything of this scale since the original Gold/Silver Spaceworld 97 Roms were released and showcased a bunch of monsters that never saw the light of day.
