So it's not necessarily a video game I know - well, I mean, there's been some kinda like the Baldur's Gate series - but I've been play D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) for about... 5-6 years now, and DMing for 2-3 of those, and I'm proud to say I've never used a module. I've always homebrewed everything pretty much - monsters, items, etc. I even have a supplement up for sale on DM's Guild And I thought I'd share my most recent homebrew that I'm proud of in this thread - though I'll probably share more later - since it DOES have to do with a video game. I made some bonus levels for my Mario Mini-Campaign I am running Saturday nights, and... well.... check em out! docs.google.com/document/d/1zcnedTz_rZjV3jciECI2sa2af20HgEhv0WD4Y_o6ZP0/edit

Just built this tonight for my Saturday game. Gonna be fun to run, I think.... ------
Obstacle 1: Paper Pirahnas! Pinana Dance Battle!
A good third of the way through the maze, you come to a long hallway line with coins. (2d10) You start making your way down the hall when you see something come around the corner, the skeleton of a Toad wearing very similar scuba gear to your own just limply floating past. And then you start to hear a noise – chickachickachicka – like the chomping of dozens of pairs of small teeth. And that's when you see – ALSO rounding the corner – a swarm of what look to be tiny, multi-coloured fish made of felt and other materials with very sharp teeth, who spot you and charge, excitedly.
- Players can run or stay and try to fight. (Fake initiative if they try to fight.) - If they run and try to attack from afar, say something like “you manage to kill a few of them, but more just replace and devour the dead ones and take the place. - Improvise until players get close. And then read the following:
As these creatures get within 5 feet of you, the sound of their chomping teeth – chickachickachickachicka – gets louder and louder and becomes almost too much to bear. 4 feet, 3 feet, you see the mania in their eyes at this point. Their need to feast, their need to eat and devour. Two feet away, ONE – and that's when EVERYTHING around you goes black. Not even darkvision can help you here. But... you also don't feel what you were expecting, those teeth starting to pierce your skin, tear you apart, rend your flesh. But you still hear their noise nearby. And then you hear a voice, familiar – the same voice that called to you after you beat the Ameobas. “It's TIME for....” And it pauses. And that's when you see a light coming down from above, sparkling, though your not sure of it's source, exactly. But then the voice continues: “It's TIME for.... A DANCE BATTLE!!” And that's when the light comes back on and your still underwater but you've found yourself on a stage, with this large swarm a few feet away and the light that turned out to be a large disco ball. You watch as this swarm shifts into several shapes – one to match each of you, in fact – that look like larger, felted pirahna wearing dancing outfits and fancy hats.
Round 1: Simple Samba!
- One V. One dance off! (DC 8 Performance check). On a fail, that player takes 1d10 Piercing damage, as the Pinana dances circles around them and takes a taste, as well. (Double damage on crit fail). - Winner gets 1 point.
Round 2: Two-Step Tango!
- Two Vs. Two! Can't use the person who danced last! - DC 11 Performance check, for each! On a success, gain a point! On a fail, take 1d10 Piercing damage! Crit success equals double points, crit fail equals double damage!
Final Round 3: Moderate Mambo!
- Three Vs. Three! The two who haven't danced MUST dance, plus one other! - DC 14 Performance check, for each! Success equals 1 point! Crit success equals 2 points! Fail = 1d10 Piercing damage! Crit fail = 2d10 Piercing damage!
Final Round: Submerged Squaredance!
- Full Squad Dance Off! - DC 17 Performance checks! Success = 1 point, Crit success = 2! Fail = 1d10, Crit fail = 2d10 Piercing damage!
Final Scoring!
- If players have more points, they gain 2d10 coins for each point they have more than the Pinana's! - If players have less points, they take 1d10 Piercing damage for each 2 points they have less than the Pinana's!
