In most places they are. Medical mistakes are believed to now be the third cause of death in the US. Only cancer and heart failure kill more. www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/media/releases/study_suggests_medical_errors_now_third_leading_cause_of_death_in_the_usAfter talking with everyone we found out in the end my friend died from mixing liquor with medication. I walked the guy she lives with through hacking her phone and we got the big picture. While he was at work and the little one at school, she was inviting guys she met online to the house to drink. She would have serious headaches from all the drinking, and her sister sent her migraine medications. She took this with her regular migraine medication and got serotonin shock syndrome, which has the same symptoms as COVID except with a rash that comes on first that she thought was a COVID rash. Her COVID test came back negative, so they thought she would be fine, but she kept taking the migraine medications and drinking, so the serotonin level would keep getting higher making her delusional before killing her. Official cause of death is being held up a tox screen but if they find the medication cause of death will be accidental overdose and if they do not it will be sudden adult death syndrome. Shit hit the fan yesterday as her sister still believes there is foul play and insists that the kid is being coached in what to say when they talk called the coroner and blocked the release of the body to the roommate for a viewing and cremation. Given a week has passed, if a viewing is done, time is ticking. The roommate may get a restraining order to stop the sister from interfering but he really does not want things to come to that. I talked to the kid and the kid is fine but the sister refuses to believe it. Nor does she believe her sister was still drinking, which explains all of the paranoid calls we would get that did not make a lot of sense. Bloody nightmare. Georgia has no Baker law, so there was literally no way to force my friend into rehab either. Me and the roommate tried together once, and he said he tried a second time after my friend tried to drink rubbing alcohol and they had to pump her stomach. Fucking tragedy given three years ago she did not drink at all and would lecture me if I drank at all. That is fast alcoholism can take you.

I’m very sorry to hear this c and for your loss. It’s tragic when something like this happens and people are left wondering what more they could have done when really you’d done as much as you could. In the end it’s their choice. Alcoholism is a terrible thing. It seems to run in our family as my dad and all 3 of his brothers were alcoholics. I truly believe had my father not turn his life around those last ten years, he would have drank himself to death.

I am just heartbroken the death seems to be bringing out the worst of the those she was close with. The fighting is unreal. Pretty sure the last thing she would want her death making things worse for everyone around her. Also she has been really messed up since she started to be drunk 24/7, not sure why so many are acting like this came from nowhere. I plead with most of the people now unsure how this could happen to get her help because I was too weak to handle it. Everyone was compliance watching her go downhill but no one wants to own up for their role in this. When I left the house I told everyone that she was really not well and would not be ok without me. Kind of wish people would listen a bit when I talk about psychology. Studied it now for 25 years, not like it is a passing interest

The one year anniversary of my work going to mandatory OT is next Saturday. It has been a very long year and the burnout is strong. I started out worrying about my team and did lots of “Mike buys food for everybody” type days, but as the weeks have gone on and social distancing rules have gotten even stricter that has even become practically impossible. We got tasked with coming up with some creative morale boosters for the “anniversary” the other day but I’ve just got no morale left for doing something like that which is pretty far out of my normal work interests anyway.
Anyway, gotta find some fake enthusiasm.

I am asking around before I rip the person apart I have asked and only couple answer and I did Google say it’s not normal it’s to low.
When you check your temperatures and reads 91 degrees is that normal? A certain jackass say it’s normal or that is what I am being told and no he isn’t a doctor.

Hypothermia is body temp less than 95F, so no 91 is not normal, except for hot corpses. My doc now takes temp with infrared on the forehead and that is always lower than internal body temp. Is he talking about that kind of thermometer?

What is the point of having Covid check in QR codes on the entrances of venues if you’re just going to get harassed about signing in as soon as you go the bar.
Got to the venue way too early so found a pub to go to just to have a coke and kill time, berated about signing in even though I did at the fucking entry. Bartenders here are miserable.

Whelp, went to the doctor today to try to redo the sleep apnea tests for my fatigue and may be sicker than I assumed. Have 8 diagnostic procedures planned for the next two weeks looking at my heart and lungs <.< Get to search for scar tissue as mistakes made years ago in treating my weird wasting disorder and the acid reflux scarred by entire throat and may have lead to acid getting into my lungs. Fun times.

I should be ok as there is treatments and can just take meds, but more pissed off that I was being treated for acid reflux, then a doctor filled in for my normal doctor who was treating me for years successfully, and pulled the med claiming it put me at risk if I contracted a stomach parasite. The office could not book me with my regular doctor and this one did not seem to give a fuck. At the time I was not fully there so did not think to get another opinion. Turns out that parasite she was talking about that she pulled my antacids over is limited to the Caribbean Islands and had nothing to do with my case.
Finding more and more my medical treatment has nothing to do with my case at all and is decided before they even speak to me, which pisses me off, as I was on a PhD path until two other medications were pulled because the office in NC just did not believe in them, and no one would put me back on them because of the opioid epidemic and wanting to use restricted drugs anymore. The catch is the drugs at the doses I was taking were not addictive, just had the potential for abuse if you took them for fun at high doses. Basically told I am better off being fully disabled than risk a low chance for potential addiction.
When I asked if this meant my other meds were not addictive and I can just stop taking them whenever the doctor did not see the irony as two of the meds I am on if I stop cold turkey can give seizures and one is considered one of the most addictive drugs on the market (effexor).

I'm sorry you are going through such a hard time c.
I am on Effexor. Have been since 2005. I was told no matter what I do, do not go off it cold turkey. The way it makes me feel when I miss even 1 day, I'd likely have to institutionalize myseld in a rehab facility for that period. The withdrawals are brutal.
We bought a new couch and loveseat last month. He said it was on back order and would be here the 6th. On the 6th he said it would now be the 13th. Now it’s the 23rd. I’m pretty fed up with it. However, he is the only guy local that carries what we wanted, which was leather with all seats have power reclining with power lumbar. It’s so frustrating to give that much money to someone and they not be able to tell you exactly when you’ll get it. I need this because my back is so bad. Our current set is only three months old and it’s murder on my back. We are already getting rid of it. At this point I’m thinking about renting a uhaul and driving to Texas to get one. I can appreciate your dilemma. I am a Buyer and I can tell you I am seeing a huge delays on many of our items cirrently due to COVID. What used to take 1 week is now 3, 3 weeks is now 6, 8 weeks is now 12 and anything over 12 is 24 it seems. This has affected appliances and furniture sales since since last summer here. I assume it would be there same there. Sounds like perhaps he was not upfront with you about possible delays, or wasn't aware there could be? When mom and I were looking last summer for a dihswasher and living room set, I have to say the salespeople were upfront that it could be 4-6 months before we saw many of the models we were looking for. Very frsutrating.

It's been snowing for about 40 straight hours here. With an estimated another 14 more hours until it's done. Normally I'd say lousy Smarch weather. Is there an equivalent for April? Lousy Aprol weather? Lousy Smapril?
No way the driveway is getting cleared. I'll wait until it melts next week.

So the other night I ended up in emerg. I’d been having terrible heartburn all week and that night massive chest pains so my mom rushed me in.
Turns out it wasn’t a heart attack but an angina attack and I am not far off if I don’t start taking better care of myself. I also have some intestinal issues, so now I have to get a camera shoved down my throat and up my ass and the kicker is I have to start wearing compression socks. I’m 44 years old! How did I do this to myself?! How did I let it get this far out of control?!
I kept thinking as long as the blood work comes back and I don’t have diabetes, high cholesterol or blood pressure I’m fine! But I wasn’t.
They say you have to hit rock bottom well here it is. I never want to see the fear in my moms eyes like that again. Turns out all those times I thought I wanted to die, when I thought I actually could be, I don’t.
So now baby steps in making some massive changes to my diet and lifestyle. They said not too much too soon or I could induce a heart attack so baby steps.
