I get a fun week of testing next week.  Pulmonary functioning test, stress test, echo, MRI's and xrays.  Should be able to get in done in a two day block.  Hopefully after all this they will stop giving me lines about not being able to use stimulants to fight my fatigue.

Also opening up a path for surgery to sculpt my throat to deal with sleep apnea.

I hope you get some positive feedback or at least a way forward c.

c what do you know about Contrave? My Dr wants to take me off Effexor and onto this system to treat my food addiction/craving along with my depression and weight loss.

I don’t drink a lot of soda. During the day I drink green tea and water. Tonic water I drink mostly. Which can be just as bad sugar wise.

Contrave is a mix of wellbutrin and naltrexone. Wellbutrin I took for years without issues but naltrexone is a drug mainly for alcohol and opioid withdrawal treatment. Looking up the clinical info, you should lose 5% of your body weight in 12 weeks on it or stop taking it. After this, the data gets murky as few of these medications are ever studied for long term effects and generally you see most of the impact when you start a drug, not when you keep taking it. So the drug is worth trying.

How does he plan to get you off Effexor? Effexor has one of the most notorious withdrawal effects of any drug, including benzos and opioids? Maybe the naltrexone and wellbutrin mix will help but I would make damn sure you talk about withdrawal effects as if you never had them the brain zaps are brutal at times. Most doctors just pretend they are not a thing or tell you just to deal with it.

Should he need prompting, many use prozac as a bridge to get off Effexor.  Also there should be no reason not to use contrave with effexor.  Effexor and wellbutrin interact, but most still use them together.  Effexor and naltrexone are also common used together.  So weird he wants to pull the effexor before trying this as an add on.

Maybe I misunderstood and she wants to use them together. There was a lot of information thrown at me and I don’t know if I processed everything. I didn’t think I could be on Wellbutrin AND Effexor.

I’ll be happy not to stop Effexor because the withdrawal effects are BRUTAL.

Good to know the results of Contrave are mostly positive. I was skeptical about more pills.

I'd start working Saturdays or start paying for it.  Our healthcare system might not be perfect, but I'll tell you I did a bunch of tests and have more to do and will not see one bill for any of it past medication.  It's peace of mind.

Okay so I was booted off my parent's military plan a long ass time ago. I think at the time it was dependents up till 18 and then 23 if college. So I more or less been without healthcare for the past 13 or so years. So going that long without going to the doctor and never truly needing it seemingly has me basically not even thinking about getting health insurance since I never go to the doctor. Open season (work wise) is in November and the union is always sending random spam about it and other things (life insurance) that I usually just trash.

I think it's just like the covid vaccine, laziness and indifference. Looking at the site and I guess it isn't that outrageous. Since I never go to the doctor I figured why pay for nothing? Fear of a simple check up putting me in debt because an out of network side doctor did the x-ray and then they never billed me and other debt collector fuck yo credit nightmares.

But yeah it's probably been a good 15 years since I saw an actual doctor for anything period.

By the time you think you need health insurance @ness, it will be too late.

And IM I would totally see this as a positive moment, you had a wake up call before you suffered a life altering event.

My Dad nearly died of Covid but while in the hospital they found a cancer that would have killed him if he had continued to avoid doctors and tests.
They dealt with the cancer a year ago.
Last week he had a follow up test and they found some more pre cancer cells that they are going to operate on again... And I could totally think that was terrible, but I am grateful that his prognosis is good.

Perspective is important.

This was a HUGE awakening for me. Before, I had the 'well nothing is wrong with me so I'll just keep on being a slug and eating what I like' and then everything went at one time. I joke, but that's what it felt like. We still don't know what's going on with my guts yet so *fingers crossed* it's nothing nefarious. 

I told Baker this, but I think I am afraid to lose the weight and I'm not exactly sure why.

It's quite a common thing for weight to be a defense mechanism. I think that was the case with me I was always the big guy.
I lost almost all my weight but put nearly half of it back on with Covid etc.

I recently got back on the wagon with a new mindset. I don't want to lose weight, I want to be a healthy and fit person, if that's the goal it means I can be that sort of person now... Where losing weight is deferring the mental pay off indefinitely.

The whole concept of a negativity or a positivity thread I'm moving away from with my journey into stoicism, now I sort of see that things are neither good or bad, they just are... Everything else is how we choose to attach emotion to it.

What I hate about them is I can't just blindly eat the bag, but I'm also too lazy to System atically remove them so I toss them back in the bag to create my own frustration later on.

I make a mean mix. No chex but use Crispex. Cheerios, shreddies, miscellaneous nuts. Cheese bits crackers, pretzels. Lots of butter, Worcestershire sauce and salts and seasonings.
