Someone stole my Amazon package at approx 20 to 8 in the fucking morning (https://youtube.com/shorts/Ns15eHLDv1I?feature=share)
It was just Step1 underwear so I guess someone doesn’t want me living in comfort but more so disappointing as I’ve never had it happen while living in this area & people nearby have their stuff sitting out the front for ages and no one touches it.
Guess it’s deliver to work or deal with the miserable staff at the post office.

Opp wrong thread:
Package theft is only going to get worse as inequality goes up in places. I know people will claim it has nothing to do with inequality, but it is not rich people stealing packages from people's yards.
Well in some places at least. MERICA of late walk onto a person's yard in many places and you are likely to get shot with no warning. Need balls of steel to steal from porches here.

Lotta carriers being robbed of their master keys lately. Of course every news article just advertises what they have... completely defenseless mind you. It doesn't matter what your zip... if you have a cbu your box is 99% compromised. PO don't care, they're not gonna rekey their network. Especially because they take 0 counter measures so it'll happen again. Since it's federal local cops won't help.
I always thought they should have "zones" that way if keys are stolen it's not impossible to rekey.
My office has 30ish routes so something like say 5 routes have a single key. But the subreddit said it's a dumb idea. Okay clearly it's fine the way it is. They like the ability to grab a key and go. And I get why. In 8 yrs here I've never lost any in my possession but they always lose shit.
Oh yeah not only can they get into mailboxes.. but collections and gated communities lulz. Course don't expect ghetto government like the post office to upgrade and invest.

I see nothing wrong with keys to gated communities being lost <.< Let them experience the world we do for once.

A lot of people here have to go to a communal mailbox to get theirs and the issue is they are getting broken into daily. We have the same issue with porch pirates and even yesterday a group of three women got into an apartment building, broke into all the mailboxes and even stole from the storage units on site.

Yup, this is getting worse and worse, with thieves getting more and more aggressive.
Pretty much the 1970's all over.

They aren't really even bothering to cover their faces or wear unmarked clothing anymore. There's no consequences so why bother?
Lady by me has a camera and the person who stole her outside décor actually held up what they were taking to the camera to show her. Meanwhile she's at work watching this on her phone. Police said they didn't have the resources to do anything about it. I get it, they are saddled with that person until the court takes them; IF the court takes them so it's less of their time to not even bother. But, at least go by there and show a police presence. Not sure if it would make a difference, but when they know they aren't going to get charged, they've got nothing to lose.

All of our liquor sales here are run by The Province. There used to be massive grab and dash and violence in stores. So the government set up security at the front. Gotta show your ID to get in. Now theft is down like 97% . Crazy how that works.
I've been fortunate to never lose a package to a porch pirates. Only a matter of time I suspect.

I’ve never lost one on my porch one out of mailbox once.
Hard to explain to some but I live on a one lane dead end gravel road. My neighborhood has a bank of boxes on the main road. My letters and small packages go there. Big stuff comes to the house, one lane dead end very loud pit bull barking, I mean you see my house and where I live you think “not worth the risk” .
But yeah some day perhaps.

Sadly, my Mother's Day weekend was a bit of a pain...literally. Friday, I had back pain that seemed to dissipate throughout the day. Seemed to come back a bit on Saturday and then Sunday and this morning. Went to the Dr's. She tapped on my kidneys, I almost passed out when she hit the left one so that's that. Likely stones, but need to check for other issues so I got myself all booked in for a bunch of appointments. Then Saturday night I cracked a tooth I've been putting off going to the dentist for. I thought kidney pain was bad...I'll take kidney stones over tooth nerve pain any day.
Luckily, I was able to use some clove oil and Motrin to enjoy time with my mom and my daughter Sunday but now I have to pay the piper (literally) and get this stupid tooth fixed. I'd love for them just to pull it for $50, but it'll probably be 'you need a root canal for $400' or 'you need a crown for $800' or better yet 'you need both for your first born'.
I'm grumpy.

Is dental including with your guy's healthcare or is it like ours and you're SOL? Because seems close to what we pay since it's not even included. Our dental insurance only really covers preventive.

Without a bridge, losing one tooth messes up the rest. It can be done if you insist, but will pay for it later. Hope they can get the stones dealt with before they move.

While my Dr's visit, ultrasound and X ray are all covered (nothing out of pocket), dental is not. I do have dental benefits through work but as you said, it really only covers preventative 100%. The major work is only covered 50% so that $400 and $800 I mentioned, that's WITH dental benefits. If you and your spouse both have benefits I believe you can be covered 100% but not sure. Plus, some employers do have better dental benefits but mine is pretty par for the course.

I already had the one on the other side pulled. Wanted to get an implant and found out they were $3000 each. Now I have to add bone beforehand if I want to do that. It's why mom and I have been discussing going away and getting dental work done. Technically, I need all my molars dealt with. They were weakened initially when I had my braces and my sour candy addiction further eroded my enamel.

Dental tourism def will pay for itself. I got a tooth I wish they would pull. When I was kid they did not pull a baby tooth that was was impacted by a tooth coming up, and it came up slightly sideways. Over the last 30 years it eroded the entire side of the tooth next to it away, causing constant pain. Pulling it can fuck up the teeth around it so basically just stuck with the pain since bridges and shit are not covered by state insurance.
Still find it unreal that dental stuff is not considered essential when people literally die from infections starting in the mouth, from lack of dental services, and dental pain is not considered real pain in terms of health.

I've have some pretty great benefits through work. I don't pay for them. I've gone to the dentist two times per year every year for 15+ years and have never paid a cent. Just generic stuff though, cleanings, cavities filled, x-rays, night guard etc. Mrs Foos has had a few additional procedures like root canals. No cost at all. Yay for benefits.

So I wait an hour to see the dentist who tells me I need a root canal AND crown (like I said), but that they did 5 emergency root canals today and have run out of sterile equipment so I have to come back tomorrow morning. There’s annoyed and grumpy and there’s whatever I am at this moment which is annoyed and grumpy on steroids.

Is that a normal thing... to get it done then and there once the need is on the table? Or is that why it's called emergency? Maybe because of the time sink and the way our medicine works, but I don't recall ever getting it done when they recommend it, always booking that out later. Could also be a price issue since you'll need a crown you're not leaving under 1k. Then again my current guy always outsources it to this endo. Maybe they're buddies and it drums up business. But the guy I used before this dentist did the root canal in house and I switched to have it fixed... so I would've murdered my family if he promised it would get rid of the pain. Now I kinda don't want to see a regular dentist for this thing. Maybe the only place I'm boujee?
This is actually my longest streak at a dentist office. Over 5-6 years (can't pinpoint when it started) so it's the longest stretch where I've actively kept an eye on my dental health. I've put a lot of work into my teeth. It's the craziest case of definition of insanity. "Hey world here's my lesson that I can't seem to learn!"
I lowkey actually don't like how little the dentist is involved though. Like they're all Vince McMahon haw haw glad I thought of it memes. I dunno how much those hygenists are making, but they're the real mvps.

Being grumpy and annoyed on steroids is just going to allow you to tear people's heads off more effectively. Seriously though... That sucks!

Well my tooth is fixed...we hope, but I am on a soft food/liquid diet for the next 4 weeks as I am not supposed to chew. If I don't lose weight that way, something has to be up.

Well it's a bit complicated as I have severe bruxism (clenching and grinding). This is an important tooth so they are trying to save it, otherwise I'll have to get an implant cause it's a tooth between 2 other teeth. Anyways, my bruxism may still crack it cause the root canal to fail. I am getting fitted for a new appliance.
Good news is I haven't had to pay a cent so far. I am hoping this remains the case.

My mom got in a car crash a week ago and broke her collar bone. Just thankful she's still with us & healing. My girlfriend is a rock star for how much she's been there to help her and my dad while I'm working.
...But every one in this house needs a vacation, asap. There is no chill between these four walls right now lol.
