Following the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 which got an entire generation into punk and ska music, I wanted to know if there were any other soundtracks that stuck with you. The more obscure the better because I get the feeling Vice City, San Andreas, Guitar Hero II are going to get flogged.
This is also just an excuse for me to talk about Day of Reckoning/SmackDown vs. Raw.
So at the time of it's release HCTP was the best incarnation of the SD series. They basically nailed the balance between arcade gameplay and the immersive WWE experience. Everything about it was pretty much spot on, except for the music.
It was just some of the most generic white noise music imagineable. So a year later and the WWE roster gets decimating robbing the games of Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, Steve Austin and Ultimo Dragon. So the big wigs at THQ came up with the ingenius idea of throwing in as much post-grunge music as possible. Now the PS2 soundtrack had more songs since the PS2 discs could hold more space, but I was so much more into DoR those songs are basically imprinted in my mind. Namely:
and this:
It was the one entry of the series where they actually played music during the matches. I'm not sure if they got complaints or not. I can't imagine anyone was upset they couldn't hear the commentary.
How about you guys? Were there any games that left an indeliable footprint in your brain soundtrack wise? What WWE videogame had the best OST?

Halo’s soundtrack is phenomenal and one of the few game soundtracks I own. There are a few more but I am going to sleep now.

Good shout, but I am talking about music that wasn't specifically designed for the game. Like stuff you'd hear on Tony Hawk Pro's Skater or FIFA that got you into music or it's especially nostalgic for you.

I recall hearing a lot of songs in GTA on the radio that I liked but nothing particularly amazing. The Fallout radio stuff is pretty great.

Still think Chrono Cross has the best soundtrack of all time. Devil May Cry 3 sound track is up there too.

Wipeout XL had a fantastic soundtrack that could even be played in a CD player. FSOL, Prodigy, Fluke, Underworld, Chemical Brothers - such a good disc.
Fluke even plugged the game in the video for Atom Bomb.

Even though I thought SR3 wasn't as good as SR2. Hearing "I need a hero" while doing coop with a friend on the final mission was amazing.
And we talked about epic this song was recently.

Blindy help me out please. Favourite licensed video game soundtrack. Madden 04 and MVP Baseball 2005 were fantastic soundtracks IMO. I appreciated Madden 04 not having so much rap music(not that I hate rap) and had a nice genre of music. GTA series is a great shoutout too but I love the music in Vice City as 80's pop is right up my alley. Hotline Miami 1 and 2 are FANTASTIC as well but you have to be in the synthwave mode to appreciate it, Furi is also the same thing. My two favorite tracks of each of the games. Michael Jackson's Moonwalker also has fantastic 8 bit versions of Michael Jackson's music. Dance Dance Revolution may be cheesy but man they had that Euro 90's track bangers absolutely down. I worked out recently to a couple of tracks like Dynamite Rave & Dark Black Forest.

Easily Vice City, followed by San Andreas, newer GTA soundtracks are solid, but don’t touch the perfection of those two.
