It was is decision to finish the match though. Eitherway he is retiring soon he said. This is likely his final run now.

Yeah, but you don't let a guy who just suffered mild traumatic brain injury make that call. Going "well, the man who is concussed said he wanted to keep going so we decide to let him keep going" is not a defense AEW can make. He literally hit his head on the concrete and might be a little loopy, how can we trust his judgment?

I'm pretty upset they overruled Aubrey and let that match continue. Matt Hardy could have died. That was insanely irresponsible.

Yeah Reby is furious. Matt was kept overnight to do more scans. There is a chance Matt may be done wrestling.

This is not going to go away quietly. He was out cold, got up, and within a few minutes was climbing a scaffold. It's a complete disgrace. Sampson is fucked, and Khan will be in the line of fire too. Someone said it in this thread, the way they got Schiavone to try to explain it sounded desperate. This was a very bad thing, as bad as I've seen in wrestling in a long time.

Reby's exchange with Kahn on twitter is priceless.
According to Tony, Matt is ok, at home and not concussed and will be at Dynamite. Reby states 1000% concussion and still in hospital.
Hope this bitch roasts these dweebs.

JR needs to go. He's shit. Hopefully this accelerates it. I can't even listen to his podcast anymore. I've all the sympathy in the world for him losing Jan, God knows what that's like. But the man is living, breathing misery. And the non-apology sums it up. Get him out of there. Or, better, stick him on the booking team so he can advise on creative. Make use of him.

I heard that comment and knew right away it was going to be a shit storm. Excalibur tried his best to gloss over it but it was heard clear as day.
And he can't even swallow his pride and apologize properly.
JR is 20 years past his prime and should have ridden into the sunset, done his podcast and sold his BBQ sauce.

You can want it, but broadcasting that thought on air is...controversial in the modern world. As it should be.

Not a phrase I thought I would say but JR could learn something from the Young Bucks. Just say you weren't serious and being ironic when people dislike something you say. And you totally mean something if people like what you say. Pretty much 100% immunity. And if all else fails leave social media.

You hear the stories, though, and JR has ALWAYS been like this. He's always been "crusty." I think this entire thing is ridiculous. JR made a bad joke. Poor taste. Okay. His apology sucked, which was a bigger issue. But Jesus ... this is not a crime he needs to be crucified for. The internet makes way too big a deal. His non-apology apology is actually accurate, even if poorly-timed. "I made a mistake, but move on." There's got to be a middle ground between forgiveness and cancel culture.

This Matt Hardy situation is a bad look. The company claiming he was released and had no concussion while Reby is screaming from the rooftops he's still in the hospital with a concussion is dangerous ground.

I think the strong internet reaction happened because they want the world know that it's not OK to make an offhand comment that objectifies women. Being a "crusty old man" is not an excuse. If you say something like that on a national/global broadcast, you're going to get called out on it. That is the only way to stamp out the mindset that it's OK to say these things. In principle I agree with you though, JR should not be fired or taken off air for that one specific line. His non-apology made his situation a little worse, because it suggested he didn't really get the point. Let's just hope it doesn't happen again. One time can be an accident, an honest mistake. Two times, it becomes a problem.

Oh I completely agree, I was somewhat flippantly suggesting this speed up JR's removal from the booth because he's terrible and the booth would markedly improve if he were to be replaced by Tazz.

Don't think I've ever sided with Reby on anything ever, but I think was horrendous from AEW. The scariest part is if you go back and watch just a few seconds after he comes around, Sammy grabs him to grapple but Matt can't gain his balance and falls and hits his head again. It's frightening. I'm no doctor but how on Earth can you clear someone that has been knocked out in less than two minutes? In what sport would this ever have been allowed to happen? Then he climbs a scaffold. It's beyond ridiculous.

Where was all this action when PW News was active? This is so delicious I hope it keeps coming. Honestly love his non-apology, reminds me of Raven apologizing for crucifying Sandman because Kurt was a bitch.

I think when you grandstand about diversity and equality and women in wrestling and JR makes a comment like that, sure they've left themselves open to criticism.
AEW are dweebs who bullshitted their way into millennial's hearts and minds ticking off buzzwords and social trends to look hip.
JR's comment is hardly a criminal offence, or even that awful. But again, when you grandstand about being "inexclusive" well....
As for Sammy, I have a solution that doesn't involve that dickhead being fired. You send him to a real wrestling school. The same with everyone on that roster who hasn't worked at this level before and they train that independent bullshit out of them.
Dweebs.

Well that what happens when you hang around The King for so many years. JR probably doesn't care about most of the wrestlers there or the fans of the show. If he did get released he probably wouldn't care.

shots fired and I'm with Emp; JR's non-apology suggests he doesn't really understand why anyone would be upset about him making a comment basically amounting to I HOPE HER TITTIES FALL OUT. In my experience, anyone who says those things in public (unprompted, to boot!) don't respect women as professionals.

So ... Kenny Omega is just not clicking in AEW. He just worked so much better in NJPW.
One, he looks old as fuck. I’ve always thought he was a rather unattractive/odd looking man, but he’s aging rough.
Second, Kenny isn’t a super tall guy, but he’s thick. I was SHOCKED to see how much bigger (both height and build) he is than FTR.
No wonder Vince didn’t take those two seriously. They’re incredibly short, normal looking guys with meh charisma. Sure, they’re a “good hand,” but Jesus. So overhyped.

It was an inappropriate comment from JR and that's been called out since the 90s. Anyone who's acting like this is just PC gone mad obviously weren't around when smarks were pissed with Heenan for making racist remarks about luchadores or King discovering the word puppies. It might surprise some people to know that fans really didn't enjoy King on commentary and found it a turn off when Pro Wrestling was getting far too risque.
I go backwards and forwards with JR. To the casual fan, JR is still the voice of Pro Wrestling and it means a lot to them when he's putting people over. On the other hand, there's a real styles clash there and he obviously hates 50% of the product. That isn't anything new, you could tell there were times JR was laying into the Attitude era product which is why Russo was constantly looking to dunk on him. However it's gotten worse since this product clearly stands for everything he hates about Pro Wrestling. Schiavone and Tazz are a little better, but it just seems like they're more appreciative just to have a paycheque and really aren't as passionate about this as JR.
I still think ideally Excalibur is the voice of AEW and you could just give him a rotation of colour commentators ala ECW. Chuck Taylor, Chris Jericho, Hikaru Shida whoever. Let Tazz just manage talent, Schiavone can continue to be the Mean Gene of the broadcast and JR? I don't know, let him produce backstage.
The Matt Hardy incident completely ruined All Out. The doctor made a horrible mistake and should lose his job. It's one thing to misdiagnose in the 2014 Royal Rumble, it's another when the guy is clearly out of it. Instead of going on damage control, Khan should just own it, say yep we messed up and we're doing everything possible to ensure Matt's wellbeing is being taken care of and we're going to put measures in place so that something like this isn't as likely to happen.
Let's be real too, this was always bound to happen. How they didn't learn from the Britt Baker incident, I have no clue but these wrestlers have been coming up with dumb spot after dumb spot with barely any oversight. That's where you need your agents to say absolutely not, because of course these wrestlers are going to risk their wellbeing to get over. Look at what the best moment on PW history was, Mankind nearly killing himself to get over. It's seriously not worth it.

The doctor was incredibly irresponsible. What irks me is that they admitted they took him to the hospital straight after the match as a 'precaution', presumably because they feared he had a brain injury. Whilst clearly this was the right thing to do, it's also the reason they should have stopped the fucking match.
Also, please realise that the definition of a concussion is temporary unconsciousness according to OED:
'temporary unconsciousness or confusion and other symptoms caused by a blow on the head'
That was a hell of a sell job then.
