Excited for you guys. I don't think anything will top my emotion when Australia broke their drought of non-qualification back in 2005. Unfortunately we've got an infinitely more underwhelming team these days and will again have to dredge through the playoffs to make it this time - only with the added difficulty of going against CONMEBOL rather than CONCACAF this time (if we are able to even get past UAE). I'm eager to see which pool Canada is in but no matter who they face I fully expect them to get caved in. Just happy I get to watch at least a few games of them on the big stage, even if that's all we get. They're on the upswing which is good.

US putting on a drubbing on Panama who took our spot last CONCACAF WC qualifiers, 5-0. Love to see it, means USA/CRC on WEDS barring a Costa Rica explosion means USA clinches a top 4 spot. Would so love to avoid the play in. Sucks Mexico may escape Honduras with a win, would have loved to see them sweat. Congrats Canada RT CM Punk'd nazzer, heck of a story and transformation.

I couldn’t watch the game because we were traveling home from Vancouver today but I checked the results when I got home and almost started crying. The last time they qualified was the year I was born. I’m so happy. I was a wee two year old when Canada was last in the World Cup. So I didn't have any memories of that moment. Thank god I'm alive at this age to see this happen, and to remember where I was when it happened. ONTO QATAR!!!

While I never post about it, soccer was my love. I played it from age 4 up until 36 until I finally quit after having children. I was five in 1986, so no memories of it. But to finally see Canadian men in the World Cup will be something else. I hope to watch a game with my oldest, who will be playing soccer on a team for the first time come May.

Am I reading this right? North Macedonia could potentially knock out Portugal in the playoff final?
That would be insane after they took out Italy.

Surely Ronaldo won't let it happen. I thought this meme that was shared in my soccer team's group (I play at a Serbian club) was absolutely hilarious:

USMNT is in the world cup despite a lackluster, 2-0 loss in Costa Rica. Costa Rica plays New Zealand down the road for a spot in the WC.
We'll take it, woo. Who knows how far the US goes, if they can even escape group stage or not.

Even though we lost to Panama tonight, Canada is still #1 in CONCACAF!

with the added difficulty of going against CONMEBOL rather than CONCACAF this time (if we are able to even get past UAE). That'll be against Peru after they locked up fifth in South America, eliminating Colombia and Chile. Peru beat New Zealand in the playoff to qualify back in 2018. NZ play Costa Rica this time as Blindy mentioned, by virtue of the rotating intercontinental playoffs. These are one off neutral venue games this time rather than the typical home-away ties which changes the dynamic quite a bit.

The winner of WALES/SCOTLAND/UKRAINE is the 4th and final Group B winner. I guess the first two are rivals to England? Any good Todd?

Canada's gonna be in Group H, alongside Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea. Wrong! Ghana just got that spot. Canada gets Group F: Belgium, Croatia and Morocco. That’s Belgium’s group to lose but Canada stands a decent chance here.

That Canada group is weak by all accounts, I don't know much about soccer but Croatia is a stepdown from what they were last WC. Canada got a shot to finish maybe 2nd.
Poland is in a rough one, Mexico is a bit down but still solid, Argentina is Argentina and Saudi Arabia are playing nearby. Not easy.

Group D is freaky - in 2018 France, Denmark, Australia and Peru were together. This time it's France, Denmark, Tunisia and Australia/Peru/UAE. What are the chances?

Serious question; how is Ukraine able to even field a soccer team? Their national players are attached to teams in other countries, so are somewhat safe, and ofhers have either fled Ukraine to safer neighbouring countries. Where the Scotland v Ukraine game gets played, is anyone's guess, would make sense to have it at a neutral location, but hmm..

It's incredible how far Man United have fallen recently, even compared to the last decade. They've spent about a billion dollars over that time and are left with an awful team that is rotten to the core, full of players that don't even try. 0-9 in the two games against Liverpool this season. They need a complete clearout.
