Shakira is playing the first ever Copa America halftime show on Sunday. Unfair advantage for Colombia, I gotta say. Those hips don’t lie.

Ding dong the Greg is gone! Maradona Bless, all is well for about 72+ hours until USSF most likely fucks this up...but until then: x.com/herculezg/status/1811793548725100867USMNT favoring an MLS head coach says it all, remember what I told you Rad, the MLS product is a big factor towards the head coach of the USMNT. They want a yes man who won't belittle or attack the MLS product. It's ridiculous and glad the Canadian HC Jesse Marsch, who nearly became the USMNT a few years ago threw shade towards the higher ups here as to why he will never take that gig.

The better team won tonight, no qualms about that. Palmer's goal was just sublime for us.
Southgate's game in charge of England, perhaps even in football now.
I'm not even angry.

Wish Basmati landed that header. That would have been so sweet.
I dunno enough about positioning to comment but I am seeing a lot of hate for Foden. Was it his fault for playing like shit or was it Southgate’s fault for deploying him wrong?
Either way, that one stings. Yeah Spain was better but England had their chances and could have taken it. Really thought they were going to finally do it this year.

Oof, y'know what hurts? No way the whole of Spain appreciates this trophy as much as English fans would. 1/3 or so don't even root for their NT. Poor Harry Kane. Some football booker god really needs to give that guy the rub. Wtf did his ancestors do for him to deserve such bad luck? USMNT favoring an MLS head coach says it all, remember what I told you Rad, the MLS product is a big factor towards the head coach of the USMNT. They want a yes man who won't belittle or attack the MLS product. It's ridiculous and glad the Canadian HC Jesse Marsch, who nearly became the USMNT a few years ago threw shade towards the higher ups here as to why he will never take that gig. We're just too stubborn and insistent on shooting ourselves in the foot it seems. You narrow your window of success unnecessarily by setting FIFA transfer rules for your real-life career mode. Cherundolo is admittedly a more decent option than some other MLS names that were being floated around. In spite of my Crew hatred, Wilfried Nancy would be a better choice. Both being the last 2 title-winning managers in MLS. LAFC was already stacked (or about to be) when Steve got there. What Nancy did with Columbus was admittedly a lot more impressive.

Really thought they were going to finally do it this year. Southgate is a terrible tactician. His persistence in playing Kane, who drops deep, with Foden and Bellingham, who all want the same space, was the driving factor behind England’s mediocre performances at the start of the competition. It should be Gordon and Saka with Kane or Watkins with Foden and Bellingham in the 10. Southgate has his strengths. He is a very nice guy, he’s positive, has huge integrity, creates an environment players want to play in, which is very important at international level because these boys have long seasons. But his football nous isn’t up to snuff in my opinion. And he’s been fairly fortunate in his managerial career, with easier opponents in competitions and players consistently bailing him out with individual moments.

That Spanish goal looked to be a shy offside. Agreed. If that USA goal vs Uruguay goal was offside then this was offside too.

Looked onside to me. Knee of the English defender is legal so that’s the line. Oyarzabal foot looked slightly behind it. Close but onside

Complete embarrassment how CONMEBOL and US have handled this Copa America between the shit fields, terrible security where players go into the stands to fend off rowdy fans and now you have difficulty in getting fans to try and get in the stands for the Copa America finale where the game between COL & ARG is delayed a half hour because of this. Awful officiating is so low on the totem pole but it was really bad in some games but that goes universally everywhere.
USA/NA officials have less than 2 years to get this right when the World Cup launches. Do better. Fields(Again Metlife better fucking get rid of the shit Astroturf altogether not just for the world cup), security. So much.

Thousand+ for a ticket and some people couldn't even get in the building. I read from fans in attendance that they didn't even scan people for potential weapons? ...in fucking FLORIDA!? (Anywhere really but goddamn you're in Florida, conmedudes) Giving us the bid is looking like a grave mistake. And I can't believe we're still dealing with turf in 2024. One of the biggest sells for signing Miles Robinson to Cincinnati was TQL having a proper pitch unlike Atlanta. Seems like a battle NFLPA or other player orgs should have won by now.

I’m stoned and all, but I totally get why soccer is called the Beautiful Game.
Messi in surely his final Copa America game with Argentinas uniform on gets injured and has to leave the Championship game in a 0-0 draw.
Then the see him limping, throwing his shoe and crying in his seat. The pain. Then the camera zooms in on his ankle and its MASSIVE. That’s the same ankle that has CARRIED the country of Argentina for nearly two decades. The ankle, like Messi, has officially given it all for Argentina.
Then with him on the sideline, a hero was born.
Lautoro gets the ball and puts Messi’s legacy and the whole country of Argentina on his leg and absolutely missiles the ball right into the net to win the game in Extra Time.
Game over.
Legacies final chapter is complete.
The torch has been passed.
Argentina has won.
That’s a Beautiful Story for a Beautiful Game.

It's pretty much what happened to me and made me a fan. I was super stoned rooting for Messi/Argentina the whole way to win the World Cup and it was just an exhilarating ride to behold. Started out as "I'll watch some highlights why not" to "fuck I can't miss this". Bought FIFA once it ended, started following FCC once MLS began anew. Became my favorite sport in like the blink of an eye lol Get you a domestic/international club to follow.

So will that be the swan song for Messi?

Southgate has resigned as England manager, and the early names being touted for the job are:
- Graham Potter - Eddie Howe (current Newcastle Manager) - Lee Carsley (Current England Mens Under 21 manager) - Mauricio Pochettino
And quite laughable, because it'll never happen, cause I think he's holding out for another national job....
Jürgen Klopp.

I would not mind Southgate as the US coach but the bar has been set so low and there are worse options that I would be cool with it. He would probably have to coach things a touch different due to the talent pool but he seems like a player friendly coach which is what we needed after Berhalter clashed with guys like Reyna towards the end of his tenure.

I feel Southgate is destined for club management again now, unless of course, another international side like the US offer him a very lucrative deal.

I don't even think Southgate was really that bad, he just took on perhaps the sporting world's most unenviable managerial position.
Well respected by his players and peers, created a good culture in the locker room from what I've read, got them to the finals (balls bounce lucky ways for all coaches, he still got them there) and it's not like they were manhandled by a damn good Spanish side either.
But it's 3 Lions and a World Cup is on the horizon: The spice must flow.

So the Argentina NT are in hot water for singing a racist chant about French players being from Angola post-Copa finals.
Enzo from Chelsea was your typical footballing idiot, recording and sharing a video of it all on social media. I don't expect squeaky clean genius souls in soccer, but goddamn how dumb do you have to be?
And his PR team just sent out an apology letter written in light blue comic sans font... Which now will require another apology for the crime of using comic sans.

Had a fucking day. Flew to Vancouver to visit friends and also check out the Wrexham/Whitecaps friendly. We got in to the stadium to meet some players and the game was sick. My wife met Ollie Palmer and it made her month. He’s her favourite. Wrexham killed em. James McClean had a sick header on a set piece and I lost my mind. I’m drunk.
