If jTjohncenaGOAT doesn't hurry up soon, I'm making a 7th Promotion with Yoshi Kwan, Super Calo, Bull Nakano, Who and some guy you've probably never heard of Rocky Maivia. Don't tease me. Now I'm tempted to start Promotion #7: Lost In Syndication featuring some of those folks plus others who were actually selected in earlier rough drafts and whatever filler may be necessary. ----------------------- Promotion #2 becomes the Cinderella Story of the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Promotion #6. For a brief moment in time Promotion #2 had actually lost 4-2 to Promotion #1 in the first round before jTjohncenaGOAT clarified his vote. Now they advance to the Finals by knocking off the mighty Promotion #6 which had pitched a shut out in its first round win over Promotion #5. There's no telling how far Promotion #2 can go after stealing..... Ahmed Johnson & Owen Hart----------------------Plan on posting Promotion #1 vs. Promotion #3 before I go to sleep tonight. Better not lose it for a second time....

*Yeah, I got carried away this time. Now you know why I was so upset about losing this the other night.
Promotion #1
1. Rock & Roll Express vs. Psicosis & Juventud Guerrera- Psicosis & Juvy formed a tag team based on mutual respect after wrestling to a time limit draw in the Cruiserweight Contenders Tournament. Their first high profile match takes place here against the legendary, but struggling, Rock & Roll Express in a curious clash of styles between old school and new.
2. Stevie Richards vs. Jerry Lynn- These two talented prospects both need a win after coming off setbacks at our last big event. This time it's a clash of personalities rather than styles since you'd be hard pressed to find two individuals more different than villainous goofball Richards and humble, hard-working, fan favorite Lynn.
3. The Gambler vs. Buddy Landell- High Stakes Showdown- The Gambler ascended from a cult hero among wrestling fans to a minor celebrity among the general public when he shocked the world by beating Buddy at our last big event. Kenny Rogers himself showed up on our tv show to endorse The G Man and grant The Gambler usage rights to the song which bears his name. The Gambler has become a big draw on the motivational speaker circuit and a hot commodity at casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and wherever else casinos are found. His rags to riches story has struck a chord with an audience far beyond mere wrestling fans....
Which has served to further infuriate Buddy Landell. It was supposed to be his night. This was supposed to be his redemption story, dammit! See, once upon a time Budro had it all. He was a can't miss prospect destined for greatness. Then it all fell apart due to drugs and alcohol. After a decade of wandering in the wilderness he had finally gotten himself clean and once again seemed to be on the cusp of big things.....only to almost immediately suffer a severe injury. He worked his butt off during rehab. He got himself into the best shape of his life. The promotion was behind him with a big hype job. Then it happened. The Gambler won. Buddy became the "1" in 1-100. He became desperate for a rematch. But The Gambler, happy with his new life as a celebrity who had become bigger than wrestling, kept declining. So Buddy decided to cut a deal. But you don't deal with the dealer! Everybody agrees The Gambler made out like a bandit in this deal. Here are the High Stakes....
-Match will have a 10 minute time limit. -Gambler gets $100 for each minute he lasts. -Gambler earns an additional $10,000 bonus if he lasts the full 10 minutes. -And a whopping $25,000 if he manages to shock the world by defeating Landell again.
Buddy is shrugging off the naysayers. He only expects to lose $100.....maybe $200, tops. A small price to pay for regaining one's dignity and self respect. Buddy is quick to remind people that he was caught unaware by Gambler countering a Figure Four attempt with a flash inside cradle. The Gambler did NOT survive The Dreaded Corkscrew Elbow Drop. Can lightning strike twice or will this Cinderella Story ultimately have a downer ending? There's only one way to find out....
4. Taz w/ Bill Alfonso vs. Louie Spicolli- Grudge Match- Spicolli displayed an impressive arsenal of suplexes in his recent victory over Stevie Richards. This did not sit well with Taz, who is angrier than ever after his controversial loss to Sabu. The Human Suplex Machine apparently feels he is the only wrestler who should be even be allowed to throw suplexes. As such, he wants to make an example out of Spicolli. In another plot twist I feel obligated to cover, Taz now has obnoxious former head referee Bill Alfonso in his corner. Fonzie argued the ref for Taz/Sabu should have stopped the match before counting Taz's shoulders down. One thing lead to another and Fonzie quit officiating to become Taz's new manager.
5. Gangstas (c) vs. Amazing French Canadiens w/ Colonel Robert Parker- Tag Title Match- The former Quebecers have rebranded under the tutelage of new manager Colonel Robert Parker. Parker's management paid immediate dividends when his contractual trickery hookwinked The Gangstas into signing on for a Province of Quebec Rules Match. See, everybody (including the refs) disliked former champs, The Blue Bloods, and The Gangstas took advantage of relaxed rules to end the Blue Bloods tag title reign. Now the blood-stained brawlers will be forced to play by a set of frankly absurd rules which favor the cocky challengers.
6. Goldust w/ Marlena vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley- Grudge Match- Both men experienced some major changes after suffering losses at our previous big show. Helmsley's Blue Blood partner Lord Steven Regal was briefly MIA, forcing Hunter back into singles action, while Goldust responded to his loss by bringing back an old friend in his manager Marlena. The womanizing Helmsley started making passes toward Marlena, thinking there was no way she would remain with Goldust. It all came to a head when Marlena slapped the arrogant Connecticut Blue Blood. Helmsley huffed and puffed but we'll never know if he intended to actually blow the house down because at that moment Goldust instantly became an unlikely fan favorite when he arrived out of nowhere to make the save with a barrage of Tysonesque punches on the rejected Helmsley. The Golden Couple then embraced to a cheering crowd.
7. Lord Steven Regal (c) vs. Chris Benoit- British Commonwealth Title Match- His Lordship disappeared for a few weeks after losing the tag titles to The Gangstas. We'd later learn he returned back to his native England where he (allegedly) won something called the British Commonwealth Championship. We personally believe it's a fictional vanity belt created by Regal to stroke his own massive ego. But Chris Benoit is treating it as a real thing and this citizen of a Commonwealth nation desperately wants to finally get his hands on some championship gold. The belt may or may not be "real" but we can assure there will be nothing fake about what is bound to be a technical and hard hitting clinic in The Game of Human Chess.
8. Rey Misterio Jr. (c) vs. Ultimo Dragon- Cruiserweight Title Match- The King of Mystery became the undisputed King of Cruiserweights by besting Benoit in a purists dream match at our last supershow. Yet uneasy is the head which wears the crown. For at once a new challenger emerged in Cruiserweight Contenders Tourney winner Ultimo Dragon. Don't blink or you're likely to miss having your mind blown when these two masters lock horns with championship gold up for grabs.
9. Shawn Michaels (c) vs. Sabu- World Title Match- Here it is. The big one. PWI has called this "the ultimate dream match" and "the almost certain Match of the Year." Expect to see a high flying and hardcore masterpiece when Michaels, who has generally been regarded as the best pure wrestler in mainstream wrestling for a few years, clashes with Sabu, the darling of the underground, in this first time ever dream match with the most prestigious prize in the land at stake. ========================== Promotion #3
1. New Rockers vs. Faces of Fear- Losers Bracket of the Tag Title Tournament which will pit the speed & technique of the New Rockers against the Faces of Fear's brute force & power. The New Rockers are none too happy about this booking with cries of "Not fair!" and "They're gonna kill us!"
2. Crush vs. Duke "The Dumpster" Droese- Hoss figh...Meh. I can't even pretend. Look, I'll be straight with you guys. Not every match is a winner. But the rest of this card is killer. So use this for your bathroom break/food run because I promise you won't want to miss what is to follow.
3. Smoking Gunns vs. New Blackjacks- Texas Tornado Match- Bradshaw & Windham realized they had a lot in common after wrestling to a draw on tv.- namely being ornery fellers who happen to be two tall Texans. So they decided rather than fighting each other, they would join forces to fight other folks, further strengthening what was already the deepest tag team scene in the world. The New Blackjacks, as they are now known, wasted no time making an impact when they immediately targeting the former champ Smoking Gunns with a brutal assault. The Gunns aren't going to take this lying down and what better way for rough & ready Texans to get it on than a good ol' fashioned Texas Tornado Match?
4. Brian Pillman vs. Konnan- US Title #1 Contenders Match- Both men have entered into a period of transition after losing at our previous big show. Konnan has ditched his colorful Lucha garb for a gangsta aesthetic while The Loose Cannon has become more unhinged and erratic than ever, attacking Konnan for no reason as K Dawg (as he now likes to be called) was being interviewed. Something has to give when these two performers who fail to stop growing do battle with a chance at US Title glory on the line.
5. Fire & Ice vs. Furnas & LaFon- Tag Title Contenders Tournament Final- Don't be surprised if this clash of power vs. technique ends up being the sleeper match of the night. Remember Fire & Ice's best work came against The Steiners and Furnas & LaFon are basically Steiners Lite. This will be yet another showcase of the deepest tag team scene on the planet.
6. DDP (c) vs. Ric Flair- US Title Match- The arrogant DDP is cockier than ever since vanquishing Konnan to win the US Title. Meanwhile, Slick Ric has become uncharacteristically humble since losing clean to Bret at our last show. Slick Ric has put Horsemen business on the back burner and has openly wondered whether it might not be time to hang it up. DDP has been there the entire time needling "the old man." Flair finally had enough and laid into DDP with a scathing promo reminiscent of The Nature Boy of yore. Can Flair regain his mojo or will the red hot DDP continue his rise?
7. Double Trouble (c) vs. Sting & Lex Luger- Tag Title Match- Double J & Double A were riding high after reaching the top of Mount Tag Team. They were soon brought crashing down to Earth when Arn's longtime nemeses Sting & Luger defected from a dead promotion with championship gold in their sights. You won't want to miss this latest installment of Sting & Lex's forever feud with the Horsemen with bragging rights of being the best tag team in the world's best tag division on the line.
8. Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin- World Championship Grudge Match- Aww year. This first time encounter is months in the making. Brash upstart Steve Austin has spent months calling out the legendary Hitman in two different promotions. The Hitman has finally had enough. He plans on making Austin humble and keeping his belt in the process. Austin has told the world exactly what he thinks of The (S)Hitman and now he finally has the opportunity to put his money where his mouth is in what promises to be a scientifically rough masterpiece for the ages.

HBK/Sabu is a legitimate dream match but Austin/Bret was one of the greatest matches of all-time, so a slight lean early to Promotion #3. Double Trouble/Sting & Lex is also a bigger match than Ultimo/Rey which is difficult for me to admit. However, these are only slight edges and somehow against all odds I find myself really wanting some of that sweet Gambler merch. Card tricks have gone up by 300% in the BP household and there's an urge to be on the right side of history.
Top to bottom, I have to go with Promotion #1.
I also need to check ProWrestlingTees for that Gambler merch.

You dudes that think they were Shanghai/Tex or the Godwinns give them way too much credit. They never had that kind of exposure. I can’t remember the names they actually went by but it was something like Psycho and Crazy or something like that. Just two jobbers who wore a mask and the only thing cool about them is they’d wear a noose around their neck. Otherwise .. very forgettable. Tex & Shanghai from Texas and they carried ropes to the ring (not sure if they were nooses, bull ropes, or just regular ropes). Thus the Texas Hangmen.

From what I remember they were a shitty undercard tag team in the AWA that basically got pushed out of necessity when everyone else got signed up by New York or Atlanta. I could be thinking of a different team though.

If votes are still open put me down as a vote for Promotion #1.
Love the opening tag match, love Stevie Richards vs Lynn, love Regal vs Benoit, love the main event.
Promo 3 is good and I would love to see Austin/Bret again but 1 is better overall.

Promotion #1 gets by Promotion Three 3-1 on the strength of knowing when to fold 'em and knowing when to hold 'em. This sets up an unexpected first round rematch of Promotion #1 vs. Promotion #2 in the Finals. Promotion #1 steals Bret Hart & StingFinals will be posted either tonight or tomorrow. ================= Big Pete I began a quest to find a Gambler shirt on ProWrestlingTees (and elsewhere) immediately after reading your one post. No luck. So then I started looking for a replica of The Gambler's satin jacket. No luck there either. But I am not yet ready to walk away, let alone run. ================= Texas Hangmen=Slazenger & Pierce/Godwinns is an easy mistake to make. I probably would have thought the same thing if I hadn't known better. Both teams were similar in size, build, and style. To further complicate matters, Pierce & Slazenger were unofficially dubbed The Texicans in WCW. I'll elaborate on The Hangmen.... The original Hangmen were Bull Pain and Mean Mike*. Bull Pain actually left the team to strike out on his own (he had a cup of coffee in ECW and was a regular on early IWA Mid South shows) by the time I discovered them in AWF, or Pete caught them in WCW. That version was Tough Tom & Mean Mike- no Bull. In later years either Mike or Tom would leave to be replaced by a Hangmen trainee named Butler Stevens who wrestled under the unfortunate name of "Hangman Nuts." *I've also encountered people who thought Disorderly Conduct/Texas Hangmen were the same team as The Destruction Crew/Beverly Brothers due to Mean Mike vs. "Mean" Mike Enos confusion. jTjohncenaGOAT was on the right track. The most famous incarnations of the Hangmen were named Psycho & Killer. 1RealSmartAlex is also correct in that the Hangmen got their first "big" break in dying day AWA. When AWA went under, they took their talents to Memphis, Puerto Rico, and the hardcore Japanese feds as basically the poor man's Demolition. Then it was onto AWF, where I (re)discovered them wrestling in rounds, and then they finally hit the big time when WCW came calling in '97. They spent a year or so pulling double duty, largely on C Shows, as both The Texas Hangmen and Disorderly Conduct. Here is a Texas Hangmen video package (with custom theme!) which aired in both Memphis & Puerto Rico.... Watched a few Hangmen AWF squashes yesterday and now a Texas Hangmen vs. High Voltage match(!) has just popped up in my YouTube recommendations. You better believe I am watching that.

I can't believe I mixed up Disorderly Conduct! True story, the only reason I've heard of the Hangmen is because I was trying to run a WCW 1998 product if you went exclusively with wrestlers 35 and younger. Bull Pain, Mean Mike, Tough Tom, Bret Hamner (Dick Hertz of ECW fame) and the Gambler (!!!) were a few of the names I couldn't verify.
I'd like to think the Gambler hit it big and escaped to a deserted island to avoid the loan sharks.

Show Results Promotion #1
1. The new team of Juvy & Psicosis used their speed to get the better of the legendary Rock & Roll Express in what has to be considered an upset. Ricky & Robert even heard the boo birds after resorted to shady tactics when their usual gameplan wasn't working. 2. Stevie Richards was outwrestled most of the way but managed to land a timely Superkick to best hard luck Jerry Lynn. 3. The Gambler goes the distance in the High Stakes Showdown to earn $20,000 of Buddy Landell's money. Landell controlled most of the way but The Gambler refused to fold even when Budro trapped him in a Figure Four Leglock at the 9 minute mark. Urged on by the crowd, The Gambler managed to reach the ropes 25 seconds shy of the 10 minute time limit. Gambler tried to stand as an irate Landell was in the midst of a meltdown. But The Gambler's attempt to stand failed due to the injured leg. Landell seized the moment by dropping The Dreaded Corkscrew Elbow Drop. 1-2-Ding Ding Ding! Time had expired! Landell played his ace too late. The Gambler survives! The Gambler gets paid! 4. Taz w/ Bill Alfonso brutalized young Louie Spicolli with suplex after head dropping suplex before finally choking him out around the 4 minute mark. Poor Louie made the mistake of landing one move early- a suplex as luck would have it. That only served to enrage The Human Suplex Machine. 5. The Amazing French Canadiens w/ Colonel Robert Parker defeated The Gangstas by DQ to win the Tag Titles in a Province of Quebec Rules Match when The Gangstas had enough of playing by stupid Province of Quebec Rules and got hardcore. The French Canadiens may have left bloodied and battered, but they also left with championship gold. 6. Goldust w/ Marlena defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Helmsley hit Goldust with a Pedigree during a ref bump. He made yet another pass at Marlena. Marlena eventually kicked him in the Golden Globes. Goldust rolled him up as the ref conveniently woke up just in time to count the 1-2-3. 7. Lord Steven Regal cheated with the Power of the Punch to defeat Chris Benoit and retain his British Commonwealth vanity title in a hard-hitting technical match. The snakebit Benoit once again fails to capture a championship, even a dubious one in His Lordship's alleged British Commonwealth title. 8. Ultimo Dragon became the new Cruiserweight Champion by unleashing a barrage of bombs and suplexes down the stretch to overwhelm the smaller Rey Mysterio Jr.
9. Shawn Michaels silenced his few remaining critics by getting the better of underground darling Sabu in a high flying and hardcore classic to retain his World Championship. Steals: Bret Hart & Sting ===================== Promotion #2
1. Brad & Jesse James Armstrong prove blood is thicker than water by defeating PG 13.
2. Aldo Montoya wrestled Bob Holly to a no contest when an angry PG 13 interfered. Aldo & Holly then joined forces to clear the ring of PG 13 and challenge them to a match at the next big event. 3. Hugh Morrus wrestled Terry Gordy to a double countout. 4. Yokozuna/Mabel/Loch Ness defeat Kevin Sullivan & Texas Hangmen. Sullivan walked out on the Hangmen when it became obvious his partners were no match for Large And In Charge. Yokozuna hit a Banzai Drop on one of the Hangmen to seal the deal a short time later. 5. Too Cold Scorpio defeats Bam Bam Bigelow with a 450 Splash in what has to be considered a minor upset. This match had a little bit of everything. 6. Shane Douglas retains the TV Title by defeating Jake Roberts. Most pundits thought Jake's only shot was to hit a flash DDT. Douglas controlled most of the way and managed to avoid the DDT, leading to a relatively easy win against the older, slower "Snake." 7. Mankind upsets The Undertaker in a Thunderdome Cage Match when Paul Bearer turned on his longtime charge by slipping The Urn to Mankind for a timely urn shot when Taker had him on the ropes. The Mandible Claw followed and Taker actually passed out! 8. The Giant retained the World Championship over Randy Savage in a wild brawl. Then all hell broke loose and out of that chaos.... THE DUNGEON OF DOOM was reformed with Kevin Sullivan leading The Giant and Mankind w/ Paul Bearer with Sullivan promising more members to come. Steals: Ahmed Johnson & Owen Hart *Plan on posting the Finals tomorrow. ============================== In Search of.....The Gambler
I'm not surprised you failed to find much information on The Gambler. For many years he remained shrouded in mystery....truly a riddle wrapped up in an enigma. It's time to come clean.... I have spent the past few years as a periphery member of a Secret Society. Yes, I am an amateur Gamblerologist. Our small but devoted group is dedicated to uncovering the mysteries of the man who brought my best friend Rick and I so much joy watching Saturday Night and Worldwide back in 95-96. Here is what is known and suspected about Our Hero.... Even his real name was unknown for the longest time. Some said it was Jeff Gamble. Others swore it was Jeff Gann. All signs point to Jeff Gann nowadays. The Gambler: Man or God? Is a frequent topic of debate among The Secret Society of Gamblerologists. Current consensus leans towards neither Man nor God, but Demigod- that group which so frequently produced heroes in days of yore, including such names as Hercules, Perseus, and Gilgamesh. Yep. That sounds about right to me. Ironically, one source who claimed to know The Gambler in real life said he is an atheist, "albeit a weird one" (their words). Recent (meaning past decade) Gambler sightings have taken place in the Chattanooga/Cleveland, TN/North Georgia area leading most Gamblerologists to believe he lives and works in this general area. The Secret Society of Gamblerologists can neither confirm nor deny the longtime rumor of The Gambler being the son of Arn Anderson and Chris Elliott. Nor can we shed any light upon further rumors which claim The Gambler is Arn Anderson's brother (even twin in some versions of the rumor). Evidence remains inconclusive for all of these claims.

Promotion #1Some of what happened in the two months between pay per views..... TRAGEDY! struck 8 days after our last big show when Taz faced The Gambler in a tv match. Taz hit a brutal head and arm Tazplex. The Gambler laid motionless on the mat. Forget about getting up. He failed to even move. The match was called and the show stopped as medics tended to The Gambler....
Sad news broke the following week when a doctor working on The Gambler informed us he had been paralyzed by the Tazplex. The doctor could not confirm whether this paralysis was temporary or permanent....
Buddy Landell had been absent from tv through all of this. He simply stopped showing up. We sent an intrepid reporter out to find him. Our reporter never did track Buddy down, but he did find bottles of alcohol and cigarette butts strewn about his uncut yard. It looked like Buddy Landell had once again succumbed to his demons....
One of the matches Budro missed was a tag bout in which he was supposed to team with Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Helmsley cut a scathing promo on Landell after the no show in which he called Landell a junkie who had now twice thrown his career away, and a loser who couldn't even beat The Gambler (lol). Landell wanted to be Ric Flair. Well, he's not even Paul Lee! (a burn so sick even our Helmsley-hating crowed ooh'ed and ahh'ed with some laughs thrown in for good measure)
The Gambler made his triumphant return to television when he was wheeled to ringside by none other than World Champion Shawn Michaels and the missing Buddy Landell(!) a few weeks after his injury. The Gambler was greeted raucous applause and a standing ovation as most of the roster (including many of the bad guys) surrounded the ring. The Gambler thanked the fans for their support, vowed to walk again one day, and told Michaels to "kick Taz's butt." The Gambler then handed the mic over to his "newest friend".... Buddy Landell! Buddy cut a promo publicly putting over his former nemesis. The hatchet had been buried. Nobody respected The Gambler more than Landell. Landell confessed to falling off the wagon. But a chance meeting with a certain lover of cards set him once again on the straight and narrow. This is a word for word transcription of Buddy's meeting with that certain card sharp..... {Spoiler}On a warm summer's evening
On a train bound for nowhere
I met up with the gambler
We were both too tired to sleep
So we took turns a-starin'
Out the window at the darkness
The boredom overtook us
And he began to speak
He said, "Son, I've made a life
Out of readin' people's faces
Knowin' what the cards were
By the way they held their eyes
So if you don't mind my sayin'
I can see you're out of aces
For a taste of your whiskey
I'll give you some advice"
So I handed him my bottle
And he drank down my last swallow
Then he bummed a cigarette
And asked me for a light
And the night got deathly quiet
And his face lost all expression
Said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy
You gotta learn to play it right
You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done
Every gambler knows
That the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away
And knowin' what to keep
'Cause every hand's a winner
And every hand's a loser
And the best that you can hope for
Is to die in your sleep"
And when he'd finished speakin'
He turned back toward the window
Crushed out his cigarette
Faded off to sleep
And somewhere in the darkness
The gambler he broke even
But in his final words
I found an ace that I could keep
You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done
You've got to know when to hold 'em (when to hold 'em)
Know when to fold 'em (when to fold 'em)
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done
You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done Or to hear the great Kenny Rogers tell Buddy’s Story... *Only The Gambler didn't die at the end. He really did just go to sleep. Still paralyzed though. The following week Stevie Richards sank to a new low when he parodied the crippled Gambler while his new ally, The Blue Meanie, impersonated a drunk Buddy Landell. Disgusting. Then.... A MIRACLE! The Gambler walked again! Turns out it really was just a bad stinger. But the humble Gambler swears it was the support of Landell, Michaels, the other good guys, and our fanbase which gave him the strength to walk again. Aces HighLive on Pay Per View from Las Vegas, NV 1. Gangstas vs. Rock and Roll Express- Gangsta Rules Match- The Rock & Roll Express solidified their slow burn turn to the darkside when they attacked The Gangstas. Do Ricky & Robert have a death wish? They must! Because they signed on for this Gangsta Rules match against a very, very angry New Jack & Mustafa. 2. Louie Spicolli w/ Bill Alfonso vs. Jerry Lynn- Far from being angry with Taz for dropping him on his head multiple times during their match at our last big show, Louie was so impressed that he now wants to be Taz! Yes, Louie Spicolli has become Taz's mini-me. Taz is cool with this because it gives him a suplex dummy to throw around in training. The newest member of Team Taz has now been granted permission to suplex LOUplex, and he plans on trying all his new louplexes out on hard luck Jerry Lynn. 3. Amazing French Canadiens (c) w/ Colonel Robert Parker vs. Psicosis & Juventud Guerrera- Tag Title Match- The high flying new team of Juvy & Psicosis have been on a role since joining forces. Now they get a chance to reach the top of the mountain against the crafty and clever Canadien champs. 4. Ultimo Dragon (c) vs. Chris Benoit- Cruiserweight Title Match- Benoit gets yet another opportunity to end his long championship drought. But it will be no easy task to dethrone versatile Cruiserweight Champ Ultimo Dragon in a match which could very well steal the show. 5. Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Buddy Landell- Landell's Last Chance- Landell wants to shed the loser label once and for all while Helmsley is equally adamant about ridding wrestling of "loser Landell." Landell's career is on the line. This is it for Buddy if he loses. Will Landell be out of aces or might he at last find a winning hand??
6. Lord Steven Regal (c) vs. Goldust w/ Marlena- British Commonwealth Title Match- His Lordship was appalled when management granted the hot Goldust #1 contender status for his vanity title. "America isn't even a commonwealth nation!" whined Regal. 7. Stevie Richards w/ Blue Meanie vs. The Gambler- Grudge Match- Richards had the audacity to mock the paralyzed Gambler. Big mistake. One might even say it's the wrestling equivalent of counting your money when you're sittin' at the table. Now The Gambler can walk again and he's out for sweet, sweet revenge against a guy who, let's face it, hasn't played too many winning hands in this business. 8. Sabu vs. Rey Misterio Jr.- First Time Ever Dream Match- Don't blink or you're likely to miss 3 things you've never seen before and may never see again in this first time dream match between Human Highlight Reels of professional wrestling. 9. Bret Hart vs. Sting- Sharpshooter vs. Scorpion Death Lock in another First Time Ever Dream Match- Look, I'm going to break kayfabe here. I know I'm supposed to be objective. And I was! In Round 1. But this became my favorite promotion when I came up with the storyline for Buddy/Gambler II. Yet even I had to admit my beloved Promotion #1 was lacking in star power. Not anymore! Now that Sting & Bret are here. This was like THE dream match in the mid 90s. 10. Shawn Michaels (c) vs. Taz w/ Bill Alfonso- World Championship Match- HBK has proven he is indeed the Best In The World with wins over Goldust and Sabu. Now Shawn vows to “win one for The Gambler.” But to do that he must survive his toughest test to date. The One Man Crime Spree paralyzed The Gambler! And felt no remorse. Will the Path of Rage run through Michaels to claim the World Championship, or will Michaels find a way to defeat the most dangerous man in wrestling and retain his title? There's only one way to find out! ======================= Promotion #2 1. PG 13 vs. Bob Holly & Aldo Montoya- Grudge Match- This all started at our last big show when PG 13, upset over an earlier loss, took their frustrations out on Holly & Aldo while they were in the midst of a friendly scientific bout. This feud picked up even more steam when PG 13 interference cost Aldo & Bob their tag title tournament match against The Texas Hangmen. But payback is a bitch! PG 13 learned this the hard way when Montoya & Holly repaid the favor by interfering to cost Ice & Wolfie their shot at championship glory in a tag title tournament match against The Armstrongs.
2. Hugh Morrus vs. Terry Gordy- Loser Leaves Town Match- These two struggling big men wrestled to a double countout at our last show. This time there must be a winner. The loser goes home.....permanently.
3. Texas Hangmen vs. Brad & Jesse James Armstrong- Tag Title Tournament Finals
4. Large And In Charge (Yokozuna/Mabel/Loch Ness) vs. Dungeon of Doom (Kevin Sullivan/Jake Roberts/Bam Bam Bigelow)- Grudge Match- Sullivan recruited various bad guys to take down Large And In Charge with promises of a Dungeon spot for anyone who could do so. They all failed. So Sullivan upped the evil. First he recruited Jake Roberts after managing to prove to Jake that nice guys did indeed finish last by using Jake's recent setback to Douglas as an example. But Sully was still a man down. So he started working on Bigelow. Sure, the Douglas/BBB partnership had paid dividends....for Douglas! All Bigelow got out of the deal so far was an embarrassing loss to Scorpio. That sealed the (new) deal. And now Sullivan feels like he finally has a monster who can go toe to toe with the monstrous trio of Yoko, Mabel, and Nessie.
5. Owen Hart vs. 2 Cold Scorpio- TV Title #1 Contenders Match- Owen shocked the world when he debuted fresh from his dead former promotion at our recent Clash of the Saturday Nights Main Event tv special by attacking Scorpio. Now these two talented technicians and aerialists will meet in a grudge match with a future TV Title shot at stake.
6. Shane Douglas (c) vs. Ahmed Johnson- TV Title Match- The hated Franchise was more arrogant than ever after downing Jake The Snake at our recent big show. So cocky was Douglas that he issued an open challenge to anybody in wrestling. Bad idea. Because that challenge was answered by The Next Big Thing *Vince McMahon voice activated* Ahhhh Med Johnson! Visions of Warrior/Honky II are dancing through my head.
7. Undertaker vs. Randy Savage- Dream Match- Miscommunication by these two in a recent tag match against The Dungeon team of Giant & Mankind at Clash of the Saturday Nights Main Event lead to this first time ever encounter. I mean it's Taker vs. Savage. You don't need a fancy backstory. The match sells itself.
8. The Giant w/ Jimmy Hart vs. Cactus Jack w/ Paul Bearer- These two were supposed to be the top monsters of Kevin Sullivan's rebooted Dungeon of Doom. And they were! For like a month. But The Giant got a little too big for his britches when he said there were no worthy challengers left....with Mankind standing right next to him! One thing lead to another and Mankind challenged the big man. The Giant laughed. Mankind attacked. One thing lead to another and CACTUS JACK was back. Bang Bang!

No takers yet? How very disappointing. Yet I shall carry on by getting back to work on another draft project I started tinkering with about a week ago. I plan on starting that one when I get enough votes (3) to close the book on this one.

I plan on starting that one when I get enough votes (3) to close the book on this one. Don't lose heart! Just a rough night sleepwise then unprecedented busy workday draining the mental battery. Meant to post last night that Promotion #1 caught The Eye of PI and outright stole all the dimes. I'll give strikethrough treatment next awake shift.

I keep making the mistake of reading these posts right before bed with a plan to give it my full attention the next day and then I miss it because I rely on the Participated tab way too much. That's the problem with a good fashioned Bake post, it's like a good meal and you can't just snack on it at 2am in the morning. Let me just say Promotion #2 got dealt a bad hand. This Gambler storyline is amazing. So many twists and turns, some gut-wrenching moments too with Buddy and somehow some way they managed to make Taz and Shawn Michaels even more amazing. Of course I want to see HBK take it to Taz but there's a part of me that wants Taz to go over giving us that Gambler vs. Taz big money match. Imagine if somebody actually did this in 1996? The rest of the card is amazing as well. #2 isn't bad at all. I really wish there was more to the Dungeon of Doom reboot because a Foley/Sullivan 1996 reunion makes all the sense in the world and yet I never saw it coming. I actually think in terms of star power, it's stronger in all the right places, but I don't care, the Gambler is the star of this entire e-fed and I'm still waiting for 🤯 to get back with Trick and see if he can teach me a few tricks via zoom.

Promotion #1 is the 1996 Draft Champion. We're on the same wavelength. I originally intended on going harder with the Dungeon of Doom. This was basically going to be their show. Main event was initially going to be Taker & Savage vs. the Dungeon Squad of Giant & Mankind in a wild gimmick match to be determined, and that would have been the main event if I'd been doing a "proper" fanfic project. But Promotion #2 needed to pull out the big guns with its back against the wall just to have a shot at being competitive with the mighty Promotion #1. Promotion #1 had 10 matches. Promotion #2 only had 7 with the tag. So I bumped P2 up to 8 matches in total and got 2 money matches rather than just 1 by splitting the tag match up into two singles bouts. No Spoilers but Promotion #1 will return one last time for a showdown with the winner of my next draft. I think you're going to like what I have in store. Speaking of that next draft.... I'm having a much tougher time with this one than I did with 1996. The talent pool is nowhere near as deep this time around. I was finally happy with the way it turned out last night and thought I'd be ready to go today. Then I realized I drafted Maxx Payne twice. D'oh! Back to the drawing board I go..... Still hoping to get started tomorrow though.

Ouch. 🤯 just savaged Promotion #2. FWIW I like P2’s top 4 matches a lot, lean thumbs up on the Large And In Charge 6 man, and could be talked into the Hangmen tag. It’s all for naught though because P1 is just about perfect. I (obviously) had a lot of fun with Promotion #1.

Maybe so much of P#2's card doesn't get the strike through if not up against perfection for comparison purposes.

1. Gangstas defeat Rock and Roll Express in a Gangsta Rules Match. This was mostly a one sided blood letting with The Gangstas controlling most of the way before finally ending things when New Jack hit a flying chair shot on Robert Gibson. One wonders where the struggling Rock & Roll Express go from here. The business seems to have passed them by...
2. Louie Spicolli w/ Bill Alfonso pinned Jerry Lynn with his new "Death Valley Driver" finisher. JL put up another valiant performance before falling short yet again. Spicolli's Louplexes proved to be the difference maker.
3. Amazing French Canadiens (c) w/ Colonel Robert Parker retain by defeating Psicosis & Juventud Guerrera in a Tag Title Match. The Amazing French Canadiens relied on their size advantage and power moves in this high energy actionfest. The finish came when Pierre squashed Psicosis with an assisted Le Cannonball.
4. Chris Benoit finally gets the monkey off his back by defeating Ultimo Dragon to win the Cruiserweight Title. This was another fast-paced actionfest ending with Benoit finally winning a championship courtesy of a Dragon Suplex.
5. Buddy Landell upsets Hunter Hearst Helmsley to keep his job in Landell's Last Chance. Helmsley was in control most of the way. Landell frankly looked outclassed. Helmsley was younger, stronger, more technically adept, a better brawler, and even quicker than Landell. But Buddy kept hanging in there, using his ring awareness to reach the ropes on pin and submission attempts. Budro also had the Pedigree well scouted. Three times Helmsley went for it, and three times Landell countered. First with a back body drop. Then by grabbing Helmsley's legs and rolling Helmsley up in an "Owen Hart pin" for a near fall. And finally Landell catapulted his way out of the hold. Here he finally scored a lucky break. Helmsley's head overshot the turnbuckle pad and hit the ring post. A dazed Helmsley stumbled backwards. And Landell capitalized by hitting his one great equalizer- The Dreaded Corkscrew Elbow! 1-2-3! Buddy Landell had done it! The crowd gave their latest hero a standing ovation as The Gambler himself came down to congratulate the man he inspired to victory.
6. Lord Steven Regal (c) defeats Goldust w/ Marlena with the Power of the Punch to retain the British Commonwealth Title. Dang it! Goldust was so close, but that dastardly Regal stole another one by cheating.
7. The Gambler defeats Stevie Richards w/ Blue Meanie in a Grudge Match. Stevie controlled most of the way, targeting Gambler's injured neck, but was unable to finish The G Man off due to a lack of focus. Richards would continually jaw with the rabidly pro-Gambler audience, showboat, and clown around with The Meanie. Stevie was finally looking to end things with The Gambler out on his feet in the corner. Richards tuned up the band. Steviekick! Ducked! Stevie crotched himself on the top rope! Gambler shakes the rope! Stevie lets loose a high pitched squeal all 21 times The Gambler shook said rope. Finally Stevie falls to the mat. Leaving him susceptible to...wait for it....wait for it....
The Dreaded Corkscrew Elbow! 1-2-3! The Gambler has won! Landell enters the ring to congratulate the man he passed his move down to. The Gambler has confidence. He has 100% crowd support. And now he has been taught the most devastating maneuver in all of pro wrestling. Once upon a time he couldn't buy a win. Now it looks like he can't lose... 8. Sabu defeats Rey Misterio Jr. in a wild high flying and hardcore First Time Ever Dream Match featuring a dozen moves you've never seen before, and a half-dozen you will never see again. The two warriors shook hands and embraced after their classic confrontation. Finish came when Sabu caught Rey in mid-springboard with a head spiking Super DDT.
9. Bret Hart wrestled Sting to a double countout in a First Time Ever Dream Match. This was a respectful match that grew more heated as it progressed and tempers flared. The Sharpshooter vs. Scorpion battle proved inconclusive with each man reaching the ropes the one time they were trapped in the other's pet hold. Both men landed rough after a series of reversals culminated in Bret suplexing Sting from inside the ring to the unforgiving floor outside. Neither man was able to answer the 10 count after 20 minutes of solid action. The two fan favorites shook hands and embraced after the match to applause from an appreciative crowd. Hmm....2 goodie goodie finishes in a row. This sure is a babyface promotion...
10. Taz w/ Bill Alfonso shocked the world by decimating Shawn Michaels in under 5 minutes to become the neeewwww World Champion. The overconfident HBK was very reminiscent of Apollo Creed in Rocky IV here. Michaels had this elaborate entrance and seemed to take his pre-match stripping routine more seriously than his opponent. Taz just stoically stood in the corner through all Shawn's shenanigans. When the bell finally rang, Shawn made the mistake of mocking Taz's height. It would be Taz who had the last laugh as poor Shawn Michaels was forced to endure Tazplex after brutal Tazplex. Shawn's handful of comebacks never lasted long before being cut off by yet another sick Tazplex. Within 3 minutes, women were looking away in horror, and their children crying. Michaels had one last hope a minute later after flipping out of an attempted German Tazplex. HBK landed on his feet and attempted a flash Sweet Chin Music. No! Taz caught Shawn's leg and deposited him with a nasty Capture Tazplex. "Finish him!" screamed Fonzie. And Taz did just that. Michaels, to his credit, did not submit whilst in the Tazmission. But he did quickly fade away. 1-2-3 times the ref raised Shawn's arm. And 1-2-3 times it fell. Taz has done it! The Path of Rage has reached its destination- the World Championship! Can Taz be defeated? Will he let anyone survive? Only time will tell...

What a great show, capped off by an all time great main event. I pray the final Tazplex was a capture cradle suplex after catching Shawn's foot on a vain desperation attempt at Sweet Chin Music.
