As I'm sure all of you are aware, this year marks thirty-five years since the original Super Mario Bros. (September 13th, 1985) game came out, and Nintendo unsurprisingly is celebrating it in a big way. Next year however, will mark thirty-five years since the original Legend of Zelda (February 21st, 1986) and Metroid (August 6th, 1986) games were released, so like the thread title says do you think they'll get the Mario treatment?
I'm hoping they will, they can go the All-Stars route with Zelda, maybe re-releasing Ocarina of Time/Wind Waker/Twilight Princess as a Triforce Collection (or something like that), followed by Breath of the Wild 2 in late 2021. As for Metroid, easy way to go would be the Prime Trilogy next year, with Metroid Prime 4 hopefully in mid/late 2022.
So something like this, assuming they did this and went with a timed release again...
Legend of Zelda Triforce Collection (April 2021 - September 2021) Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 (November 2021) Metroid Prime Trilogy (October 2021 - March 2022) Metroid Prime 4 (October/November 2022)
Do I think this will happen? Honestly, who knows but I would like to see it happen, cause I know I would buy them.

In all honesty I would love if they did Mega Man Legacy collection for these series. Unlike Mario Metroid only has a few select "classics" to compare.
Like you could do a 3D release of Zelda, OOT, MM, TP, SS... am I missing any? Not including BOTW as it feels too new. Then maybe a 2D/Top Down release where you trim some of the fat of lesser Zelda games. But if we're going by the way they did the Mario release I'd go with OOT, TP and SS.
For Metroid I wouldn't mind them doing what they did for Metroid 2 and do it for the original and Super and making that the trilogy.
So what would you have done with the "Triforce Collection"? I googled it and got disappointed.

Not gonna lie, I completely forgot about Majora's Mask, though I'd put Skyward Sword over it as well. Honestly, for me the more Zelda games, that get put on to the Switch the better.

I don't know if Nintendo will make as big a deal about the anniversary, but I could definitely see them releasing those compilations.
Metroid Prime Trilogy has been a long standing rumour and would make perfect sense to tide people over since Metroid Prime 4 was completely re-worked.
A Zelda compilation makes a lot of sense and with games development being affected across the board, it's something they could easily piece together to continue boosting their software sales. I'd say your picks are exactly what would appear on there and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they completely re-work Skyward Sword and release that.
In saying that, I just wish they'd get their act together on the virtual console front and give us the option of buying games outright off the eShop. I'd spend 100s if I could buy N64/GameCube games and play them on the go.

Nintendo doesn't care nearly enough about Metroid. The most they will do is re release the Metroid Prime Trilogy that was on the Wii with minor improvements and updated controls. Prime 4 is still a while off, Retro restarted the project not too long ago and are still making a few key hires. They will definitely do something for Zelda besides the Breath of the Wild sequel. They already redid Twilight Princess and Wind Waker on Wii U, so those will be easy ports. I see those two being packaged together with OOT as a All-Stars like collection. I can see them bringing the GB/GBC ones to their online service too, much like the original and A Link To The Past. They will probably put a bunch of Zelda stuff into some of their other games too and put out a bunch of new merchandise. No Skyward Sword though, because it's not a good game.

What's with the Skyward Sword hate anyways? Is it because it's just destined to age the worst of any Zelda?
My special edition Wiimote broke so I haven't played it since around the time of it's release. That was also the last time I played Twilight Princess and my memory was that Skyward Sword was the better overall experience. TP has some of the best dungeons in the series, but the worlds were far more interesting in Skyward Sword and the story felt more significant. The only section I remember disliking was the repeat Imprisoned fights and even then I expect those sorts of choices from games.

There's already been rumors of a Legend of Zelda collection coming next year from the sources of the Mario leaks. It's safe to say that is most likely a lock for new Switch model next year. The Hyrue game coming out this fall is just precursor for what is to come.
