Destiny 2 was one of the free games with psn plus a month or two ago. Destiny 1 was a lot better though. As for getting two systems I recommend trying to talk them into a ps4. Because if you get both you are going to have friends on both systems trying to get you to play with them at the same time. Fortunately (or unfortunately?) there's no way Wife would be on board with me getting two different current gen systems. As it is, even getting one is a stretch. Honestly, I'm aggravated that the buds who have the XBox have even put me in this predicament. Based on my research, it sounds like really no one has an XBox. It's like the GameCube or Dreamcast now almost. Sure, it's cool and has it's own merits... But PlayStation is clearly king. Why the fuck did these dopes even ever getting the XBox in the first place!? The trouble is that the few of them who do have the XBox are the closer friends who I'd rather game with... But then again, I have a feeling they game less often than I'll have bandwidth to game. I just wish picking PS4 over XBox didn't feel so much like me telling them "meh, I don't wanna hang out with you anymore." (Although, I guess moving to Massachusetts kinda said that more loudly than picking any video game system ever could...) I guess my main question now is are there good deals out there, or would it be worth waiting until like Black Friday to save $100?

They may have been on board with Xbox before they knew who would be ahead. PS2 vs Xbox: Sony won because PSX already had some more credibility even though Xbox especially a modded one was more powerful. PS3 vs 360: MS won because Sony got cocky in the beginning and came out with a $600 system and though everyone would be on board. They never recover in this generation since people went with the cheaper 360. Even though PS3 was a lot more stable. PS4 vs Xbox One: Sony is currently winning because MS got cocky with the initial designs of the xbox one trying to do away with used games and borrowing games And wanting you to have it on an internet connection at least once a day.
So considering the last two generations picking MS isn't a bad idea.
There is talks of letting Fortnight to crossplay between PS4 and the one so maybe other games like Destiny 2 may follow suit. Since I am pretty sure Destiny 2 could use it.

7 of the 8 of my co-workers that game have a PS4, the one with an Xbox is my closest of friends. Needlessly to say we’ve tried to encourage him to get a PS4 😂
EDIT: Yeah the Fortnite crossplay thing is already confirmed.
