There's not a drawcard on that cover.
File this game next to TNA's in the bargain bin.

I get the "living the gimmick" shtick that MJF does. But at what point do you tone it down for the brand's sake?
He's the World Champion and AEW's brand ambassador now and is now coming off looking like a member of that Roller Ball team that tried to cross-over to WCW going after Paddy Pimblett.
I'd want to sell AEW to the UFC audience, rather than insult them. 50% of those watching UFC despise wrestling, and of that 50%, maybe few have knowledge of MJF and AEW.

I think McGregor's reaction to MJF saying he has no idea who the hell he is says it all. McGregor can barely name people in the WWE still active today, let alone AEW.

The second a UFC Fighter fronts up to MJF, is the second MJF shuts his mouth.
And whens all this working going to pay off, he ain't exactly putting butts on couches and ass' in seats. #thedemo

I am pretty sure they are working an angle. Paddy Pimblett wants a match vs MJF in AEW when they go to the UK.

NATH45 is AEW's resident troll. He'll say anything to perpetuate a negative narrative about AEW. After all, he has to be a counter-extremist to argue with the Melter-loving wankers on the other side of the sess pool. While the rest of us rational people without an agenda laugh at both of them.

And whens all this working going to pay off, he ain't exactly putting butts on couches and ass' in seats. #thedemo What should he do instead? Can't knock him for trying. Winning new fans over? Especially when you're trying to introduce you and your brand to UFC fans. Instead, he's mouthed off, and the biggest star in MMA is calling him a clown. Doesn't know who the fook he is. Even if they, sorry... MJF was working an angle, Conor McGregor ain't wrestling MJF, and Paddy - the next big thing in the sport, ain't doing it either. So what's the end game? A week of short-term social media hype? Either fighter would be out of their mind working for AEW. If they wanted to work, they'd be calling WWE and maximising the absolute potential of their respective brand name on a global stage. They only people getting worked are the AEW fans pretending he and they are smarter than the business, and any of this bullshit is going to lead to something other than MJF looking second best, and therefore the brand looking cheap. Oh, and the man's been champion for a month, and they've lost 100,000 viewers of their already sub-million viewers. So, +10% of their audience already checked out. Winning.

Given the shitstorm UFC is in after that last Paddy fight, sure Dana will push hard for a fight in AEW just to change the narrative that UFC is fixing fights with a judge now under investigation. This comes while the FBI is investigating some of the flash knockouts that had suspicious betting patterns.
So yeah, of course Dana is gonna amplify the AEW shit and generate whatever he can from it to take away from the very serious problems UFC is facing. They get hit even rigging one fight, it may be decades before they recover.
Also funny Jake Paul called out Paddy, but Paddy was warned not to take a fight with Paul to avoid embarrassing himself. These be the terms that Paddy turned down:
"I have a proposition for you; since you wouldn't rig a fight, let's spar. Fly to Puerto Rico - I'll get you a private jet - and we can do five three-minute rounds of boxing. If you win, I'll give you $1million, which is what you deserve to get paid Paddy. You know it, but the UFC is not paying you that, you deserve to get paid more. But if I win, you have to join the United Fighters Association and help me sign up all the fighters in the UK. So let's spar, put your money where your mouth is - let's go."

Because if Logan Paul beats up the next UFC money train, Paddy ain't worth a damn cent.
If exposed. He loses. UFC loses. Everyone loses.
Now reverse that thought process. If MJF steps up to someone in the UFC, he's exposed. The second MJF gets an offer to step into the Octogon, he's exposed. He doesn't win here.
Let's remember who is giving who the rub here. UFC doesn't grow working with AEW, AEW does.. potentially.
The money is in McGregor at Wrestlemania.

You're not really answering the question, you're just criticising what he did do instead of offering a better suggestion. I don't know exactly what he did or said in UFC, but putting himself out there like no other AEW champ has done before him is certainly an attempt to win fans. Sure it may all backfire, but like I said, can't knock him for trying. If you don't take risks you're never going to get anywhere.

Isn't Conor way too short for the land of giants? I mean I know they only have a handful but still. Floyd Mayweather not only wrestled Big Show to a great match at a Wrestlemania but he KO'd him and ended up defeating him. It can happen but McGregor wants top dollar and probably wants the more established WWE and maybe one of the legends like Rock or Lesnar or Austin or Cena(Cena makes sense). McGregor is a loose cannon though and is the type of guy that will fight people in the locker room, especially old guard who won't appreciate "LolWrestlingisfakeLol" "Steroid monkeys".

It was nothing but since wrestling twitter is what it is everyone now expects MJF to defend the AEW title against Paddy. Getting the AEW World Championship trending alongside UFC and Paddy is a win and it worked. Anyone complaining doesn't understand social media.

Bro you already know how its going to go. 1) ratings increase: “see I told you so.” 2) ratings decrease/stay the same: “ratings don’t actually matter.” Choose your fighter.

An alternative? You want acknowledgement. Two of the best workers in the business did more with a few seconds than any back and forth on twitter could from MJF. While MJF pales in comparison to The Undertaker. Paddy or any UFC hero simply stopping, looking at MJF, the title and acknowledging his presence without uncontrollable laughter would suffice. It would be even better if the fighter was fully hyped and just stopped dead in his tracks for the stare down with MJF. Actions. Not Twitter.

That's a great example, and something like that could have been more effective. Lesnar and Undertaker had the advantage of having previous history, and I assume they were both in on it. Not sure the UFC guys were in on MJF or whether MJF just showed up himself. Judging from the reaction, probably the latter. Certainly Undertaker is a far bigger name than MJF too, but that's not really on MJF or AEW. The only current full time wrestler with that kind of fame is Roman Reigns.

Ok, ok, ok. Stop the presses : Should WWE do themed RAWs/Smackdowns?
It works for AEW, clearly. An 11.5% increase on the previous week is a good number. Considering they've been floating in the 8s for a while now, to hit 950,000 is a good number.

It’s a good idea for them because they only run 4 major events. WWE run around 12, so special TV episodes would be probably have the unwanted effect of taking away from some of the lesser PPVs. If HHH cuts the PPV schedule, which I’m sure he’ll try to do, then I’d like to see WWE try these specials as well. Good for social media buzz too which is right up their alley. 950k is a really good rating two weeks before Christmas.
