Reviews for CyberPunk 2077 are out and so far the reception seems largely positive. In particular reviewers seem to be enamoured with the NPCs and how they interact with the lead character and the sidequests are meant to be very enjoyable and varied to play through. The one negative review appears to be Kallie Plagge of GameSpot who gave it a 7/10. Looking through her experience, it just seemed like there was a disconnect between her build of V and how V behaved in the main quest. Very little had any weight to it and whenever the game would stir her curiosity there was little follow through. The game was also very buggy to the extent where she wasn't sure if it was an intended mechanic or not. Looking around, bugs appear to be a common complaint among critics and it appears that early adopters are going to have a frustrating experience with the game.
It does seem like critics didn't have the time frame to really explore the game, so I'm curious to see what the reception is by January. Either way, I'm going to make the plunge on December 10th.

Nothing for December, which is fine as I'm broke AF after doing all my online Christmas shopping.

Empire of Sin is amazing. Really cool game. Basically 20's era gangster game with xcom combat.
From what I seen of Cyberpunk is if you just play the main game start to finish it is pretty disappointing and can be finished in 15 hours or so. If you explore the side quests, which are the majority of it the game, it becomes a lot more enjoyable. The bugs I seen were all graphical, and frankly, hilarious looking. If that is the worst of the bugs at release, then I do not really care. Most games release with crash or freezes these days. Also most of the problems reviewers are having are fixed in the day 1 patch.
What many reviewers are missing too is if you play the two times in a row it is will play differently due to minor choices you make. People replaying it are finding the second playthrough are pretty different. Reviewers finishing the game once and writing a review I think are IGNing themselves.

I alluded to it, but I'm also skeptical of reviews for games like this. They essentially had 5 days to play through the entire game, write up a review and have it edited. I don't see how you can have an enjoyable experience with that sort of schedule especially with an early build of the game. It's why I'd much rather wait and see what everybody has to say a month from now. It's where YouTube has the advantage because they have dedicated communities where they can compare notes and they don't have to worry about clicks because audiences will just watch for the personality.
Plagge admitted she barely touched any of the crafting systems and didn't touch on all the sidequests, so I don't know why she was so quick to go with a 7 which is so out of sync with other publications.
I can see the real value in CyberPunk being in the DLC, just like Destiny and Destiny 2.

Mainly CyberPunk though I may throw a couple of bucks on the 1st ever Fire Emblem game that got here Stateside, especially since Nintendo wants to do this you can only get this until April 2021, even if it's digital.

Cyberpunk is clearly the big one, also checking Chronos and Fenyx Rising.
Fuck Puyo Puyo...ruining completion of the Yakuza games.

I can see the real value in CyberPunk being in the DLC, just like Destiny and Destiny 2. IGN dude hit the game pretty damn hard and hit 50 plus hours. He claimed he beat it at 20 hours, then went back to check out side mission and started to notice how much they started to change the game. He gave it a 9 mainly for the glitches, but from his review he said that talking to others he heard that small actions can branch the game pretty hard. IGN has a shit rep, but this review was pretty fair. He seemed to imply that even at 55 hours he may not have seen the full depth of the game. He also did not explore crafting or deep into specializations and multiple playthroughs. But he said the strength of the game seems to be in the connectiveness of everything and how you can start with the different backgrounds and have different games. He also pointed out that you can play missions through in many different ways, again making the sandbox of the game and missions playout really differently based on background and playstyle. And yeah, CDProject Red is amazing with DLC, and I do see them now the engine is complete adding a lot of deep DLC. I plan to pick up sooner or later but do not have the energy to play games right now so will watch others play it and buy it when I feel better. Everything I seen though makes it seem like a game I will really like, but I love cyberpunk and FPS sci-fi RPGs so this game would have to be pretty damn bad to turn me off of it entirely.

So...why is this Cyberpunk game receiving all this crazy hype? What have I missed? Looks like just another new release to me.

So...why is this Cyberpunk game receiving all this crazy hype? What have I missed? Looks like just another new release to me. Am I misremembering things or was it constantly getting delayed? Always felt like it was in the news, but don't remember knowing what it is. And then it seemed like in the past month people were suddenly HYPED.

So...why is this Cyberpunk game receiving all this crazy hype? What have I missed? Looks like just another new release to me. From CD Projekt Red, the guys behind Witcher franchise. Game has been delayed so many times, has so much controversial crunchtime allegations and has been in development for 4-5 years so this is a very long awaited release.

Witcher 3 is considered one of the greatest games made. Cyberpunk is the next game by that studio.

So...why is this Cyberpunk game receiving all this crazy hype? What have I missed? Looks like just another new release to me. On top of everything Blindy and c said, it's based on a popular Dungeons and Dragons pen and paper RPG that was released over 30 years ago but has never received the RPG/Open-World experience. For me it's the appeal of having a fresh IP with a futuristic setting and making up for The Witcher 3, a game I've yet to play.

OMG, Nomad start feels so much like a New Vegas remake.
Watching a playthrough now and Nomad starts outside of the city but so far it looks amazing. World is freaking dense. Tons of lore stuff if you are into it. What is wild is the NPCs are all doing stuff. Will find a group and one is playing the guitar, one if boxing a bag or kids are throwing rocks at a can. Makes the world feel a bit alive. Also feels like very little set pieces duplicated.
Based on the little I seen, the game is living up to the hype. Not seen combat yet as the guy I watching is doing deep into the RPG stuff.
And damn, if you are into fantasy settings at all you need to give Witcher 3 a playthrough. The first two are are good but have control issues but the third game is so damn good.

Having watched a few streamers put some serious time into Cyberpunk small bugs aside it is a great game. The story is really cool. A lot of bitching in game communities about the game, but lockup bugs are rare (and will be patched) and graphic bugs are usually funny rather than annoying. Some things could have been done better, but game is fantastic and game of the year easily.
The actual core story is WAY better than it seemed in the previews. It is some pretty awesome Cyberpunk stuff. Keanu is amazing and one of the best video game characters. He nailed Johnny Silverhands, and the way they are using Johnny Silverhands is really genius.
