What a fucking disaster this turned out to be. It's actually pretty embarrassing and is going to cost them MILLIONS around the COVID Holiday Season. They already made profit and the refunds likely will still leave them in the green. A lot of games in the past have released really buggy but this one is just making people ree like they never reed before. In two to four weeks it is likely the bugs will be fixed, like they are with most major game releases.

It's a case of over-promising and under-delivering (aka the Peter Molyneaux syndrome) combined with a horrific release for PS4 and the X Box One which audiences saw coming a mile away yet CD Project Red couldn't bring themselves to be realistic. Had they released the game first on the PC, ironed out the bugs on that system and THEN brought it to consoles six-twelve months later they wouldn't be receiving the same backlash.
They let greed get the better of themselves and they've paid the price.
It's a disaster and yet like System I'm still really enjoying it.

Jinxed myself, 5 crashes today, and I'm probably playing for a couple more hours after the latest patch downloads.
Edit: Finished the day with 1 final one right when I was getting ready to quit, so 1 a day until today...then 6.

I expect A LOT of people to rush the game and refund it. Then they can buy the complete collection in two years with all the DLC and expansions.

Finished the main story, refund time it is. The mission I was up to, gave me a point of no return warning..so I figured it was going to be long chain of missions I couldn’t break free from. So i did a heap of side missions and finally went back to it, nope it’s the final mission. If I didn’t do any side missions would have been done a lot quicker.

I've been following this thread as I was hoping to be able to download and play CyberPunk when I was off for a few days over New Year. I have a PS4 Pro, and reading through I'm seeing that not only will it not be available, it's really not worth even attempting on a PS4 and I should wait until I can somehow source a PS5?
Would I be right?

Would I be right? They're actually planning on doing a PS5 upgrade in the coming months, so if you do come across a PS5 that would be your best bet. They released a new patch of the game yesterday which has improved matters but a lot of the major issues won't be fixed until February so it maybe worth waiting until around then to play the game. Who knows? You maybe able to find it for cheap at CEX by then.
Otherwise, the PS4 version maybe fixed by February and you'd only be missing out on a few perks.
Even with the bugs, I'm still enjoying the game so it's worth a playthrough. The opening portion was disorientating but once the story unfolds it finds it's feet.

Frankly, I would not get this on the PS4 period. The PS5 can support the ray tracing, the PS4 cannot. Will get a huge difference in graphics.

I'd definitely be pissed if I had paid $60 for this on PS4, but I only Gamefly'd it so I can tolerate the issues, it's not unplayable like I've seen many say, but it is highly troubled. Just the two crashes today.

So did the game change mid-way through development to fit Keanu Reeves in? Effectively pulling a Star Fox Adventures on the game and leaving the development team scrambling during a global pandemic?

When it is done should be a REALLY long game too as the DLCs will likely be about the same length as the game currently is.

The big change was not Keanu (Silverhand was always the main character) but the move to releasing this on PS5 and Xbox whatever and shoehorning in ray tracing. They had to basically redo the entire graphics engine. The PS4 visuals are likely what the game was expected to look like. The PC version is what it is after the years of redoing everything for ray tracing.

The PC version is what it is after the years of redoing everything for ray tracing. There were reports last year courtesy of Silverhand's Italian dub actor that the role was actually much shorter, but Keanu got so invested in the project he requested for them to expand the role. I'm not sure what that means entirely, whether they made him a key component of the plot or added him to various side-quests (the latter does seem more likely) but there you go.

Makes sense. Likely he was not part of anything except his main story until the role expanded. Should not have been too hard to add him in many places since you do not interact with him most of the time.

I finished this up last night at Level 33 with a ton of side-quests and misc missions to do around the southern half of the map. I'm pretty sure there will be some interesting side-quests left over, but I felt like a lot of the missions were just repeating themselves and my character was well and truly ready to wrap up the story.
I didn't have a clear ending path at first, originally I was just going to go along with Silverhand, but then I came across the Panam storyline and it felt like the right choice for V. V from my experience was somebody who was desperately looking for his place and his people, he thought he had it with Jackie but it was taken from him, but then Silverhand inadvertently led him to the nomads and Panam.
Outside of the cheesy sex scene, I thought their blossoming relationship developed nicely. I didn't really take to her as a character until we got back to the bar from the first mission and she finally dropped the frumpy mind-set.
I think it's the best ending you can give V's character and I thought the way they handled the epilogue was really nice, it kind of reminded me of FFXV where I found myself moved despite the glaring issues with the game.
It's funny because I must have completed the Panam mission around the same time as everyone else because the rise of Panam threads around social media picked up substantially. It's a nice boost for the actor as well since she hasn't really been involved in a project of this scale.

18 hours in playing this on the PS5, have had 5 crashes altogether so it's about 3 1/2 hours per crash. The game is seriously fun and I don't think it's a bad game but heck if the glitches aren't funny. EXCEPT when the stupid checkpoint system screws you over and you have to repeat 15 minutes of gameplay which has happened to me twice. The gameplay is pretty meh but when you finally get a katana or great melee weapon does it become super fun, same with the mantis blades. The boss fight with Woodman was a joke though, he can 2-3 shot you and he would be glitched to stay at the front door and not chase you so I would pot shots at him while in cover only for him to fully heal himself practically which is ridiculous. What a poorly designed fight, one in which I didn't get an option to avoid as he deemed be a threat after I killed people on my way to him(WHICH I DIDNT EVEN START, I walked to the next objective and the guys began to fire at me which is a shit part of the game, the enemies trigger too easily). Turns out after I was running low on ammo, I just needed to run at him with my mantis blades and shred him in 3 seconds which made the gunfight completely pointless  There are terrible borderline game breaking glitches and some absolutely hysterical ones that completely take me out of immersion. But I can't say I am not having fun with the game, there is so much to do, so much freedom and Big Pete is so right, Act 2 is where everything finally takes form. You have to suck up the 5-6 hours in the beginning to get to such but just so many choices and so much interaction, I think if you don't play too many open world games, it's really sweet altogether. Having a lot of fun with it despite all of the performance issues. Not worth the refund or far cry IMHO.

I have to take back everything I said, in a 4 hour session I had FIVE crashes in 3 hours. Awful. I wasted 1 hour of my life on trying to capture Jotaro in this club where I did it the stealth way only for it to crash on 2 diff occasions before I said fuck it and just ran at every single person with the mantis blades and cut them up. The problem is I dropped his body while trying to clear everybody out and somehow his body died/vanished which forced me to restart. This mission wasn't even hard it is just the bugs completed ruined this game for me. A side mission has been locked for me too so I can't even fully complete this game, I am so pissed at this game because when it runs well, it is a very fun game. 22 hours poured into but this game absolutely failed me this late night session. It is now to the point that I have to panic save minute by minute for these gig missions, the problem is the idiotic decision that you can't save while in "combat mode" which the problem is the combat mode does not toggle off even after outside and in a cutscene so if the game crashes your absolutely boned and have to restart the whole mission again or from a checkpoint if the game was wise to do it. Likewise the NPC random civilian AI is GOD AWFUL. They would walk through a fight between me and a bad guy and because they got cut up by my Mantis Blades, I get the police after me and the funniest part? THE POLICE AND GANG MEMBERS WORK TOGETHER TO KILL ME If this was at all realistic, they would fight each other but nope. The lack of immersion in this game is evident.

Just got to Act 3 of Cyberpunk 2077, I assume this is the endgame given I am at the mission that states "POINT OF NO RETURN". Let me rally up plus and minuses. Plus:1) Game is full of missions, you do one, somebody else calls you/texts you, you do another one, oh you see a disturbance nearby, or you see collectable like the Tarot Cards. 2) Have really enjoyed the story altogether, think the cast of characters are really good. Couple of twists and turns and you really want to go out of your way to so the side missions because the cast of characters are worth knowing and wanting to help. 3) So many ways to go about a mission, especially if you have a required stat. Reminds me of Dishonored in that regard, you can open a mini shortcut or if you aren't strong enough, you have to improvise and find another way. You have so many optional methods towards a mission, what I liked about Dishonored carries on into this game. 4) The loot system is pretty cool and the ability to equip different items as cyberenhancements is crazy. The double jump is so useful, makes jumps and entrances to missions really unique and gives you a great vantage point for the leg up. Loot system heavily based off Borderlands where items drop from commons to uncommons to rares to legendaries. Combat system can be wonky but boy the Mantis Blades feel so good and you can borderline stunklock a cyberpsycho into place with it. The blades feel very fun too, I have more fun with the blades than I do the gunplay, go figure . 5) A lot of music choices, a lot of radio options, really cool stuff. A lot of characterization too with your character, besides the aforementioned penis and vagina options, you have loads of ability to change your character. Think Dark Souls but even bigger on a scale of what you can fix. Can see how someone can spend an hour on this alone. Minus:1) 19 crashes, 1 freeze. Not good, inexcusable. I can live with funny glitches but the crashes are ridiculous, as I mentioned above, I had FIVE crashes in one sitting! I have also had to restart missions either due to: Car got stuck in a chase in a spot on two occurances that I can't backup, get out or drive through. My scanner failed to detect and did not work for a mission that this is needed. A one hit KO drone pops in randomly out of nowhere on one reload instantly, next reload it doesn't in one of the major missions. Locked out of THREE side missions(Burning Man, Picking up reward from Cyberkenetic doctor and a call from the weird collective group) for reasons. The fight missions that say moderate yet the opponent can two shot you, which might mean it's weirdly inbalanced Per each crash, the settings get defaulted so if you had any specific setup like DMCA soundtrack off or any kind of handicap friendly settings, you have to refix it every single time. 2) The AI leaves a lot to be desired, especially if your like me and you cheese Overheat Cyberhacking which can be exploited . I played this on 2nd hardest difficulty but even I can destroy with overheat, practically carried me throughout the game. AI will just stay in one place and practically take it up the behind. I guess you can not exploit it but given the damage output they can put where they can 1-2 shot you(Especially with those broken electric precision rifles) you will find needing stealth and using cyberhacking to be big time. 3) Nothing takes you out of the immersion than the terrible inventory system. Having fun, go around doing things and pick up some loot and BOOM "Full Inventory ALERT". I think of the 50+ hours I have spent in the game, a combined hour or so have to belong to the clearing of items. Since the dropoff points are very spread out and the merchants are too, you will find yourself disassembling a lot of items. They needed to give you as the player more room or heck take the whole thing out, sometimes realism takes the fun out of a game and this inventory system rivals NiOh as far as being a headache. NiOh might be the only one truly worse than this system, games have to stop with this. 4) Romantic link has PROMISE but the problem? You are limited to 1 male romance, and 1 female romance for each avatar. I chose Female V and I would have chose Panam who is great but she is only into males so I get FriendZoned. That's okay because my V is going to be #TeamJudy because she's a sassy Latina who has a good heart and is loyal to the end. Sucks that you are so limited with who you can date with and only 1 sextoys for each gender in the game kinda sucks too Each hub should have a different person. Sucks that each character only will romantize with you if you are either male or female. For example Judy or River will flirt with you if your female, Panam & that Johnny Silverhand dude if your male. Wish there was more characters you can flirt with like Claire the bartender as another one. 5) Speaking of Johnny Silverhand, I think they really did too much with Keanu's role here. I get it he's stuck inside your brain and is borderline trying to take over or lets V know what is up in regards to that but he is such an unlikable character that he isn't really cool and comes off as borderline edgy. He is redeemable in some facets but man he is Shadow the Hedgehog level's of cringe edgy at times. So I have to finish the Judy sidequest, have 1-2 brand new sidequests opened up in Act III but I think I am at end game so might make a final followup post wrapping up my thoughts pending on the ending. Game is VERY good and very fun, especially if you don't have open world fatigue like me but the crashes and poor performance sucks the life out of the game and some questionable QOL choices(Inventory system, romantic links, bugs that force you to reload and waste time, inconsistent checkpoint system) that could have been fixed and would have made a world's difference with the game.

You're supposed to equip mods to expand your inventory size. I didn't because I liked my V being a tank who was basically impervious to pain, but it's an option and makes life a lot easier.
It's funny you mention Nioh because I wish it was more like it. I'm not sure what you mean by Nioh being a terrible system, I find it incredibly easy to bulk sell items I don't want and sending anything that maybe of value into storage. I really wish I could have just highlighted anything that wasn't legendary or iconic and sending it away.

By having to take time out to drop items or sell off items to blacksmith in NiOh. I do agree the send to storage feature is much better than what they have in Cyberpunk. And I disagree, I don't think you should have to buy parts to make your capacity far better. Game wants to have a shred of realism yet you can carry ____ handguns, _____ shotguns, ____ blades etc.

Game wants to have a shred of realism yet you can carry ____ handguns, _____ shotguns, ____ blades etc. It doesn't take up that much time in Nioh, especially when you highlight every item below a certain rarity. This is especially true during the initial playthrough where by the time you've cleared a zone you can basically just convert all your gear into exp, money, honor or craft parts. You've got more than enough room to clear each mission in each zone without having to even worry about having to sort out your menu. It makes a lot more sense if you've played games like Phantasy Star Online or Diablo where you're constantly farming for gear and selling off anything you don't need.
All I'm saying is that the game has inventory upgrades and if you want to carry more items around you have to invest in body, cyberware and clothing mods to make it happen. I just wish it borrowed Nioh's weighting system and had a middle option between being Usain Bolt and a Tortoise.

I am all for an unlimited amount of load where I don't need to drop items due to storage being full altogether in games. Never understood out of all of the things to be realistic about, this is what game developers want to do. Beat Cyberpunk yesterday, got one of the endings. Game went over 55 hours for me, did as many side missions as possible, even fulfilling all of the Coach/fight club matches although I threw the final one, not worth putting up with the BS where the final guy can end you in a clean 1-2 combo. Final Score for those keeping home: 23 crashes 1 freeze _____ funny bugs Finished at Level 36, #TeamJudy. Far more good than bad but I think once the game is patched, a lot more people will enjoy their experience. Game just runs like shit, it really takes away this game from being a GOTY candidate due to this. Final boss I basically tanked, probably way overleveled, boss from afar did like bellyscratch damage to me while I was sniping him and cyberhacking him with overheat/short circuit. I screenshotted two amazing glitches that stood out from all the rest, gotta find a way to edit. Really going to miss these cast of characters.
