That's the key, you're supposed to but why should anybody when they haven't done anything to deserve any vitriol? Most of those guys listed are losers, they don't make me feel mad, they make me feel sorry.

That Kenny Omega promo was god awful. No interest in a dumbass death match either. That's a shame because I liked this Kenny Omega, but the character and booking took a real nosedive this week.
Serena vs Riho was fantastic. Better than any of the Japanese first round bracket.

I'm not saying it's the greatest promo of all-time but I thought it served it's purpose and there wasn't any of the usual theatrics from Omega.
What did you dislike about it?

As well as his usual Scooby Doo villain ridiculous way of talking, my main issue is that he spoke way too quickly and never gave any of his words time to breathe. It was just one long run on sentence.

I can see that and when the promo first started it was your typical limp-wristed Omega promo. However he actually conveyed passion which is pretty rare for him. I was waiting for him to start winking at the camera and start saying I'm a bad bad boy or whatever nonsense, but instead he showed off some clarot and looked legititmately amped up.

I don't think there has been a more disappointing wrestler in the modern era to me than Kenny Omega. He is the antithesis of a star. It's funny, you'd think wearing suits and nice shoes and having an elaborate entrance would help, but somehow it only further illustrates how unnatural he is in this role. He's such a goof. He makes me feel older than any other wrestler. Because I don't get one iota of it, and the internet fawns over this guy. Yes, he is good at executing moves and he is good at these video game matches of move-sequences and I've even enjoyed a couple. But he's incapable of having any other type of match (at least that I've seen). He can't talk to save his life and they make him fucking talk and talk every week. He is goddamn insufferable.

He's the modern day Rob Van Dam.
If you're a fan of that style than you're going to have a strong opinion. However if you are a traditionalist, a lot of the quirks are going to stick out and ultimately leave you underwhelmed.
I don't think he's as popular as people make out either. If he was the greatest Pro Wrestler of all-time, why is he not pulling the numbers of a Hogan or Austin?
Dave likes to point to the WrestleKingdom shows, but by that logic, Roman Reigns is an extremely popular wrestler due to the Wrestlemania crowds and as fans, we both know that isn't true.
The only real claim to fame is boosting NJPW World Subscriptions by 300%, but how much of that was the novelty of seeing Jericho work a different promotion after nearly 20 years? I'd say that was the biggest factor.

Yeah, as far as his style and his matches go, I can sit my taste to one side and acknowledge that he does have some appeal in terms of the way he works. I can understand why people like his matches. I'm not going to kill him for the declining ratings, this is a tough situation with no fans in the arena and honestly, I'm stunned that AEW has held up as well as it has during the pandemic.
Regarding Dave, I just try to block it out. Ultimately it's one man's opinion although it does amuse me that Dave has always killed Vince for rewriting the narrative of wrestling history when Dave is literally doing that every day with his horrendous takes.
And going back to the ratings, Tony Khan has done a bad job in the last few months of creating interesting new stories. One trademark of a Tony Khan show is that there are always lots of stories going on, and there still are, but they are not good. They've botched Sting, they've botched Shaq, the Bullet Club thing is weak. The only thing that's got a bit better is the women's division. But yeah, not a good run for AEW right now.
It's been good, it's been bad, it's been ugly, but for the first time since its inception, is AEW boring?

It's been good, it's been bad, it's been ugly, but for the first time since its inception, is AEW boring? If AEW has proven anything it's that the Omega fanbase is a vocal minority. I don't think there's a wrestling fan on the planet who wouldn't consider Omega a quality athlete, but there's more to being a Pro Wrestler than that. It's worth pointing out that some of Omega's segments have been ratings losers, so he's actively turning fans off the product.
Essentially what I'm saying is that you shouldn't feel alone. I think there's a lot of fans out there who really don't care for Omega but don't feel strongly enough to voice their opinions since it's really not that big a deal.
I understand where you're coming from. It's one of my biggest issues with Dynamite, their format is really uneven and it doesn't make for compelling television. That's one of the issues with their creative process, they have all these different chefs who all have to get their stuff into the show and instead of letting it flow organically the show comes off really stilted. Almost as if they're afraid of one segment over-shadowing another. There isn't that competitiveness in the company to top themselves and make the next show better than the last. It's just all been stagnant lately as they placate the bookers and let them play out their bits.
It doesn't help that the presentation is still largely inspired by the WWE and they're not really doing anything different or doing as much long term booking as they should. Just about all their number one contenderships have been decided by tournaments, battle royals or ladder matches instead of the ranking system which is just utterly irrelevant.
Again, I'm glad it exists and I hope it does well, I'm just not going to piss on people's boots and declare it the greatest wrestling show of all-time.

I stumbled upon this match surfing the web, will we see anything like this on AEW?
Has 3 current champs I believe. Omega has a lot of versatility, wondering if he uses some of this stuff in the video vs Moxley.

No people do it is just in a lot of places the ones who spend more time on the internet like Omega. I have referred to Omega as Ziggler like who I consider better which I didn't consider a insult but in a some places that didn't go over well. He comes across as a person that could be a good mid carder who tries to have entertaining matches. Nothing about Omega makes him seem like a main event headliner to me. His in ring seems highly overated and his mic skills are poor.

Seriously looks like a sleazy fetish video. Think this is a rivalry match. I am sorta immune to the Japanese kink with the gaming and long ago, the anime I have seen. Especially jumping into the Yakuza video game series and all But I think these type of intergender matches would work in AEW, surprised Khan hasn't gone this route yet. A lot of storytelling to be had and it's something WWE would never do.

No but seriously is it 20 minutes of butt stuff Blindy?
I've unlocked my share of achivements as well in Yakuza if you catch my drift, but help a brother out here.
Did you see Omega/Riho vs. Sabien/Ford on the Jericho Cruise? I think it's certainly on the agenda and those who actually watched it liked it. I'd go as far to say it's the best thing Kip and Penelope have ever been involved with.

I'd go as far to say it's the best thing Kip and Penelope have ever been involved with. It's a humiliation match with Kana getting her head shoved into Kenny Omega's ass accidentally, Tanaka and Omega taking turns spanking each other's bare asses in front of the crowd, mixed in with some chain wrestling by the end that is actually really good with two of the best Japanese females today. I have not seen that match you mentioned, I am sorta stunned we don't get more of this. WWE ran that mixed gender tourney but the females never fought the males.

Kenny Omega's problem is that he's always been a fantastic athlete and wrestler, but he just can't act or do any kind of convincing character/promo work with some very rare exceptions. Which is why he works far better in Japan than he does in the USA. Even his goofiness is endearing to the Japanese audience whereas it's just corny and cringey in the West.
As far as storylines go, his best angles have been those in NJPW where most of the storytelling is done in the ring or indirectly through character work, such as his feud with Okada. Omega's whole career, and how it runs parallel with Kota Ibushi, is one of the most compelling in all of pro-wrestling.

Super Eye Patch Wolf piling on and speaking in hushed docile tones trying to put it over as this amazing angle made me even more suspicious.
As far as their run in 2018, did they actually run that many angles beyond teasing the break-up of The Elite which spoilers didn't end up eventuating?

These Showbuckle videos give a pretty good overview of their history. They met in DDT, but spent a lot of their time together in NJPW. Also really interesting how their careers developed when Omega turned heel and joined Bullet Club, while Ibushi was part-time in NJPW. https://www.reddit.com/r/njpw/comments/klp0aj/showbucklethe_tale_of_the_golden_lovers_part_1/ https://www.reddit.com/r/njpw/comments/klp0uu/showbuckletale_of_the_golden_lovers_part_2/
