I am really worried, how do we lose so many close ones? Is it coaching or time management at this point?

I am really worried, how do we lose so many close ones? Is it coaching or time management at this point? Coaching staff. Ranking in the 60's-70's overall. Low intelligence rating so I can't train them either. Looking like they're going to force my hand in the first year. My Bengals franchise surprisingly did much better. Wasn't able to get an SB but last I checked I was able to train the OC/DC in the high 80's and saw consecutive playoffs. Hopefully this year at least involves some good draft picks; plenty of cap space left, too.

Not pushing panic button yet, the old saying goes you can't build Rome in a day. Believe in the process.

WEEKLY RECAP - The last eligible week before the trading deadline saw a repeating rematch between the visiting New York Jets and the previously victorious New England Patriots. Foxborough had certainly seen better days in the Bill Belichick era of old, but head coach and former Patriots HB Avery Hardy has proven himself worthy of the role, improving upon the Pats dreadful outings from the 2030's decade, though the team did enter play today under .500 at 3-4-0. Eager to keep New England vying for a playoff spot, Coach Hardy would diversify from the team's usual run oriented offensive scheme, choosing to focus more heavily on QB Tucker Mason, who a long with Jets QB Freddie Soto, put on an absolute show for this Week 8 matchup as both men totaled 3 TD's with zero interceptions. Soto would end up finishing the day with 40 more passing yards than his contemporary, but yet again, Soto's statistical output was null and void when it came to the end result: a New England Patriots 24-21 victory. Another week with yet another close loss... Head Coach Franklin Ward was nearly speechless during his press conference. "I'm not sure what else to say to you other than I can confirm to you we are trying... Rome wasn't built in a day. Some people understand, and others apparently don't." The press conference obviously got the world of sports media talking fast and frequently about the relationship between GM Rad Ripley and his rookie head coach. "Five consecutive losses, and then last week your boss suggests you're about to get fired if you don't start winning with a defense the Little Giants or the early 21st Century Cleveland Browns could defeat with ease. Of course Franklin Ward clapped back with some subliminal messaging of his own! #FireRad" analyst Scoops Duncan would soon tweet. "No comment," the GM would reply when asked (for possibly the millionth time) what the future of the coaching position would look like.
The 2-6 Jets hit another border state by traveling to the "City of Brotherly Love" in Week 9 to clash with the NFC's 4-4 Philadelphia Eagles. New York currently bottoms the league in almost all league categories, but the combination of QB Freddie Soto and WR Dominic Johnson has been a true highlight of this season, including the surprising play of MLB Wesley Wilson. There's no telling when this team will finally bounce back, but the potential of this squad's future certainly can't be denied yet. Join us seven days and six nights from now as the Jets aim to break this absolutely disgraceful five game losing streak!

WEEKLY RECAP - The first meeting between these two squads in four years, the Jets were looking for their first victory in five whole weeks while the Philadelphia Eagles were attempting a second consecutive victory to ascend themselves above the .500 mark for the first time this year. A game of defensive hot potato proceeded before our eyes until the 11:02 mark in the first quarter, as HB Nolan Larson ran in for his first TD since Week 1 of the season on a 23 yarder to put New York up 7-0 early. Nearly at the same exact time in the second quarter, the powerful Soto-to-Johnson combo would yet again come through, this time on an 68-yard bomb to double their total at 14-0. Three consecutive field goals from the Eagles, forced by the Jets defense coming through with key stops on each drive, ultimately narrowed this margin to a more respectable 14-9 for the home/nest field Birds. Eagles QB Jacob Snyder would then punch back early in the fourth quarter with a 33 yard scramble TD run. Unfortunately the Eagles would fail to follow through on an unusual 2-point conversion attempt that resulted from a rare bad snap from all-league center Johnny Dunn, narrowing their score at 15-17. Freddie Soto would rally the team further ahead with another TD pass, this time to second favorite weapon Charlie Fox, ascending the Jets lead to 24-15. After a long and trotting offensive effort, the Eagles did manage to narrow New York's lead to 24-22 on a passing TD from Snyder, yet with just 33 seconds and a failed onside kick attempt, they were rendered helpless as Soto soon took a knee to secure the Jets first victory in five games.
"I feel damn good, if that's what you're asking," said QB Freddie Soto in the locker room when asked how he felt, "This ain't a bad team. And we're certainly giving it our all. There is accountability here and I'll be the first one to take, whether we win or lose -- but this time we won. And we ain't heard no fat lady sing just yet..." Similarly, GM Rad Ripley actually gave praise to both the team and his coaching staff during this week's briefing to the press, "This game wasn't as close as the scoreboard made it appear. I felt like this was an excellent display from both our personnel and management in controlling both the pace and tempo of this contest and managing to seal the deal when pressed back. Excellent job, and I hope this kind of attitude and determination is what we continue to bring week in and week out."
Week 10 will feature the Jets returning home against the visiting 5-4 San Diego Chargers in both teams first matchup against one another this year, as New York looks to win multiple games for the first time this season. Stay tuned for more updates to also be provided as we take a mid-season outlook on what's happening around the rest of the National Football League while at the halfway mark of the 2041 regular season!!!

The NFL obviously brought in some rule changes over the next 20 years to stem the dominance of passing offence. Not a single QB will hit 4000 yards this season. I wonder if it was connected to the Mahomes dynasty, if there was a tipping point when Pat became the bad guy?

I wonder if it was connected to the Mahomes dynasty, if there was a tipping point when Pat became the bad guy? Yeah this game is certainly wonky in some respects. I've run other careers where two teams finish 16-0 at the end of the year. There's no rejected offers when trying to sign or resign players, you just have to keep an eye on cap space and avoid low morale players. I wish they'd change that to make it just slightly more challenging. Every league seems to operate differently though. My fictional one was the opposite, top QB finished with 50 TD's and the other top two finished in the 40's, all of them with or near 5,000 passing yards.
