Cashman is the real culprit, changing managers does nothing. The team tries openers to bandaid the starting pitching dilemma, unable to develop any arms in the farm that can step up worthwhile(Montgomery is okay and Severino is hurt), signs guys like Kluber, and trades for Taillon who had notorious health woes, has an offense that swings for the fences and outside of 1 guy, has little to no speed and their defense is lackluster, especially at the most crucial spot(Shortstop) by having a 2B in Torres try to be a SS and in turn dip his offensive production because of the worry on the defensive end. In hindsight, would you have kept Joe Girardi?

In hindsight, would you have kept Joe Girardi? Nope. Girardi wasn't great either outside of bullpen management and they often clashed with one another which is why Cashman pulled Boone off ESPN and wanted Boone to run what Cashman wants in the team, analytics. It's why I don't see Buck Showalter as a replacement, Buck is very old school in lots of senses. And I remember we had a discussion but Yank fans aren't happy about their Friday night game getting PPD and now getting a 7 inning game on the 4th of July, busiest time for traffic & could have done something else on this Holiday. I 100% get it, Gary Cohen of the Mets commentator team offered up a sensible suggestion that would give them a food voucher and/or a discount on a future game because that's bullshit to go from 9 innings paid ticket on Friday to now a 7 inning affair. Awful for ESPN too, and the advertisements. Your paying yearly great money to have your ads shown for a 9 inning game, not a game that dips 60-90 minutes less. Awful boneheaded decision by Manfred to do this. So anti-consumer. They don't care about the fans as much as they are happy to see them back in the stands. Randy Levine is a piece of shit anyway of the Yankees, think this was his call on the weekend debacle.

Rowdy Roddy Tellez time is over in Toronto. He's off to Milwaukee for some relief pitchers that the Jays desperately need.
He lost his spot on the roster to Vladdy so it was only a matter of time until he got dealt. Glad the Jays got a good return for him.

Ohtani is scary. It's like he hates baseballs and wants them to die.

I'm so glad Cole did not let Boone take him out of the game. Cole is capable of going the distance. Wish this happened more often.

Lot of buzz around Kumar Rocker falling to the Mets at #10 in the draft today. Will be an exciting one to watch develop.

He and Jack Leiter who went 2 to Texas were a fantastic duo at Vandy, shocked he fell to Mets at 10 but with the MLB Draft, talent doesn't fall due to ability but rather how easy they are to sign.

Pete Alonso earning more money by winning the HR derby than he gets for playing the entire season is pretty wild.

What a comeback win by the Mets today! Walker gives up 6 runs in the first inning including 3 on an swinging bunt that he fucked up because they thought it was foul, bullpen proceeds to pitch 8&2/3 scoreless, Conforto hits a two run homer in the ninth to win it 7-6. And that's after they lost after leading 6-0 yesterday!

Rojas getting tossed was a pretty key moment I think in terms of getting the squad fired up. Getting swept by the Pirates plus losing Lindor and DeGrom would have been a disastrous way to start the second half - instead they rebound with a huge effort from the bullpen (especially that sixth inning by Loup) and a clutch GW hit from a guy who needs to get going. Phillies are only two back now, holding them off seems important psychologically.

Fantastic start by Stroman today going 8 scoreless. Exactly what was needed given how stretched the bullpen has been in recent days.
Doesn't take much to hit it out of the Reds ballpark. Dom's grand slam looked like a fly ball all the way.

Mets take the series with the Jays, suck it RT. Huge five games coming up next against the Braves. Run up to the trade deadline will be interesting - Adam Frazier the first domino to fall with the Padres acquiring him for what seems like a very meagre package. San Diego now have four allstar infielders. 😮

Absolutely disgusting start by Eickhoff tonight, let's hope that's the last we see of him now we've got Rich Hill, and Carrasco set to debut on Friday.

Texas Rangers snapped a 112 inning streak of never having a lead tonight against the worst team in baseball, the Arizona Diamondbacks. 112 innings straight of never having a lead.

Anthony Rizzo a Yankee now too. Wonder where Voit goes, not sure what he does. We really can use SP admittedly but that offense could be pretty good.

Looks like the Dodgers have hijacked the Padres bid to get Scherzer and they're also set to add Trae Turner as the Nats go into full sell mode (they're also sending Schwarber to the Red Sox). Must be the biggest baseball trade for a long time.

Little emotional watching the Jays back at the Rogers Centre. That was goddamn beautiful.
Lock up Bo Bichette and Vladdy Jr forever. If they don't retire as Blue Jays I swear to god.
Let's go on a run and give the wild card teams something to think about. Woooooooo

Gallo still looking for the 1st hit! Surprised Voit is staying, he just can't stay healthy. He'd probably be the DH if everyone's at full health with Stanton, Judge(At CF?!) and Gallo manning the outfield.

Mets don’t plan on signing him after issues with his physical. Disappointing because it felt like he was going to be a fun guy to follow, but now we know why he fell to begin with. The good news is that they get the #11 pick next draft as compensation so it's not a complete washout.
