ART World The pinnacle. The big gold belt. The centerpiece and flag bearer of American Rasslin Theatre. First held by Shane Douglas, the American Rasslin Theatre Championship changed hands less than almost any other championship. It can be defended at the champion’s discretion though it must be defended every 30 days. Exceptions include special event periods like The Blassie Cup, Next Top Contender, and The Trios Cup. The champion may still choose to defend during these periods, but the days in these periods don’t count toward the 30 days. Two of the most prolific champions, and the ONLY current ART Hall of Famers are Eddie Guerrero who defended the championship 107 times over his nearly two year reign, and Ricky Steamboat who, up until the Second Shot Tournament for the vacant title, was the only man to win the championship twice.
VACANT since April Wk 1 1999 Randy Savage from March 1999 to April 1999 DEFENSES 1 Chavo Guerrero, Jr. from December 1998 to March 1999 DEFENSES 15 Christopher Daniels from October 1998 to December 1998 DEFENSES 19 The Rock from March 1998 to October 1998 DEFENSES 15 Ricky Steamboat (2) from December 1997 to March 1998 DEFENSES 9 Rick Martel from November 1997 to December 1997 DEFENSES 1 Rey Mysterio Jr. from September 1997 to November 1997 DEFENSES 2 Chris Jericho from March 1997 to September 1997 DEFENSES 17 Eddie Guerrero from May 1995 to March 1997 DEFENSES 107 Ricky Steamboat from December 1994 to May 1995 DEFENSES 20 Ron Simmons from August 1994 to December 1994 DEFENSES 11 Shane Douglas from July 1994 to August 1994 DEFENSES 0

ART of ALLEGIANCE Tag Team wrestling has a rich tradition that American Rasslin Theatre strives to preserve. One of the most popular matches in ART that is frequently showcased is the Four Way War. Four teams doing battle for the richest prize or for a shot at the richest prize in that division. Traditionally, the AoA titles are defended every 30 days, but some champions choose to defend them more often than that. Some of the greatest tag teams to hold the gold are Sudden Impact (Chris Jericho and Lance Storm), Miracle Violence Connection (Steve Williams and Terry Gordy), and The Suicide Blondes (Adam Copeland and Christian Cage). All of these teams boast multiple reigns with the championships. Other prestigious champions are the ones who have held the straps with a variety of partners; Ricky Steamboat, Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio Jr, Curt Hennig, and Chris Jericho.

Young blue chip I stole from USWA. He was wrestling as Flex Kavanna there, but he’s a third generation wrestler son of Rocky Johnson. We wanted to come up with a better name for him. His friends called him DJ (his shoot name is Dwayne Johnson) so we came up with DJ Rock in honor of his dad. Eventually, he, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Ron Simmons would form a group called The Rock Solid Foundation (later joined by Chavo Guerrero when he turned on Eddie and Scotty Riggs joined while Chris Jericho was suspended). Anyways he cut this promo one night after he won the World Championship about how he was The Rock of this promotion, the only thing holding this company together and started calling himself The Rock. MF is currently off filming a movie which is why he dropped the ART World title in the first place. I had planned for him to have a long reign.

Evolution-6 One of the most unique championships in the history of professional wrestling is the Evolution-6 Championship. It is so unique that it is the only championship to inspire its own offshoot. Here’s how the Evolution-6 Championship works. It must be defended a minimum of every seven days (barring special periods like The Trios Cup, Next Top Contender, and The Blassie Cup). It is almost always defended in 6-way matches though there are a handful of exceptions. When a champion accumulates 6 successful defenses, he has two choices. The first option is to forfeit the Evolution-6 Championship and announce the date they intend to challenge for the ART World Championship. Their second option is to keep the Evolution-6 Championship and “cash-in” on the champion without announcing it ahead of time. HOWEVER, if they choose the second option, they must keep defending their title until they cash in their shot, and if they lose the title before they cash it in, they don’t get a title shot. Every ART World Champion with the exception of original champion, Shane Douglas, also held the Evolution-6 Championship. Two of the most prestigious E6 Champions are Dean Malenko, who holds the record for longest reign and most defenses with 31, and 2 Cold Scorpio who holds the record for most championship reigns with 10. Neither of these men have held the ART World Championship.

Women’s American Rasslin Theatre can boast, without debate, the most prestigious Women’s division in North America. Utilizing a consistent pipeline from the Joshi promotions in Japan, it was important that ART focus on creating the BEST Women’s WRESTLING while other promotions focused on...other things. There is no question who the most dominant Women’s Champion in the history holding the championship for much of the promotion’s history taking down challengers like Akira Hokuto, Mariko Yoshida, Medusa Micelli, Country Music Star Lisa Moretti, and more. The only other woman to even hold the champion is Mariko Yoshida.

International Television This championship was designed to give something special to ART’s second television show, International. This was an opportunity for ART to expand into different markets. However, as the show gained steam, some of the great ART World Champions and other champions wanted to take their shot at this championship. It soon became a very respected championship in the company. Ideally, it is defended on every episode of International. Some of the most prestigious champions include Eddie and Chavo Guerrero who are tied with four reigns each, and Christopher Daniels who holds the record of defending the championship 31 times.

Evolution-4 As Women of Art began to showcase great women’s wrestling, there was a demand for more opportunities for the women’s division. The question was asked; why don’t the Women have their own version of the Evolution Championship? Then, the Evolution-4 title was born. It’s usually defended on Women of ART, but it’s also been defended on International. It’s the newest championship, but so far the greatest champion is by far Mariko Yoshida, a two time champion who has also successfully cashed in to end the years long Women’s Championship reign of Bull Nakano.

The Trios Cup One of the first special tournaments which came to be known in American Rasslin Theatre, The Trios Cup is what’s given to the winner of a tournament in February. There are 8 teams, and not just anyone can be a team captain. The World Champion, International Champion, Art of Allegiance Champions, and Evolution-6 champions lead half the teams. The other four teams are captained by individuals who have been most successful in main event matches in the last year. Interestingly enough, every team to win The Trios Cup has featured either Eddie Guerrero OR Ricky Steamboat.
1995- Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Jr., and Tito Santana 1996- Eddie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero, Jr., and Dean Malenko 1997- Eddie Guerrero, Cactus Jack, and Ricky Steamboat 1998- Ricky Steamboat, Adam Copeland, and Christian Cage 1999- Ricky Steamboat, Cactus Jack, and Dustin Rhodes
Next Top Contender There are many ways to crown a next contender, but some people consider this one the best. Twelve competitors compete in two heats of six in a round robin tournament. The top two competitors in each heat compete in a four man single elimination tournament to crown who will challenge next for the ART World Championship. Some of the great competitors include Ricky Steamboat, 2 Cold Scorpio, Rick Martel, and others.

The Blassie Cup The Championship Committee felt like the fall line up was missing some of the pizzazz that the winter had with The Trios Cup and the spring had with Next Top Contender. Summer was already home to two of the biggest events of the year, ART of GOLD and Summer’s Last Blast, so they wanted something to kick the fall off to a strong start. Their solution was a month long single elimination tournament to showcase the stars of American Rasslin Theatre. They chose to honor ‘Classy’ Freddie Blassie with The Blassie Cup. The inaugural Blassie Cup was held in 1998 and won by ART Hall of Famer, Eddie Guerrero.

Need to Know News- April 1999
Randy Savage forfeits ART World Championship After shocking the world on the final Canvas before Night of Champions and winning the ART World Championship, Randy Savage on loan from WCW, forfeited the ART World Championship. Savage, after defending the title successfully against Ricky Steamboat at Night of Champions, was rumored to be injured in the match. ART doctors felt Savage could work through the injury, but WCW officials did not want Savage risking greater injury. In the final appearance of his deal, Savage gave up the title without ever being pinned or made to submit.
Second Shot Tournament Announced ART Management has announced the next ART World Champion will be someone no stranger to the championship. The eight former ART World Champions on the current active roster will compete in a one night, single elimination tournament at Flash Bash titled the Second Shot Tournament. First round matches have not been announced. The main event for the April edition of Worldwide will be a Four Way War pitting Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio, Jr. vs Ricky Steamboat and Christopher Daniels vs Ron Simmons and Chavo Guerrero, Jr. vs Chris Jericho and Rick Martel. The winning team will choose their first round opponents.
Totality Targets Steamboat Totality [Lex Luger, Curt Hennig, Tonga, and manager Rick Rude] have been extremely vocal about Ricky Steamboat getting a number of ART World Championship opportunities in the past months. Luger claims he was handed a World Championship Match against Savage when Savage beat Luger by DQ without pinning him or making him submit. Rude claims they want to make sure Steamboat does not become a three time champion even implying there would be a bounty on the head of Steamboat if someone could make sure he didn’t win the tournament.

Surely, he will be hoping for his allies in Totality to be in the match as much as he hopes that Ricky Steamboat’s allies Cactus Jack and Dustin Rhodes. Either way he must win if he wants to start banking defenses.
International Television Championship Match Ultimo Dragon © versus Dean Malenko versus Yoshihiro Tajiri In a bit of breaking news, we’ve found out that Dean Malenko demanded a rematch against Ultimo Dragon. He also requested a match where there could not be a time limit draw. The solution the championship committee devised was to also include Ultimo Dragon’s tag team partner, Yoshihiro Tajiri. Probably not exactly what Malenko had in mind.
ART of ALLEGIANCE Championship Match The Suicide Blondes © versus The Fabulous Freebirds When ‘Dr. Death’ Steve Williams was injured, Terry Gordy called on an old friend, former Evolution-6 Champion, ‘Freebird’ Michael Hayes walked back into American Rasslin Theatre to the surprise of many. Now, rumors circulate that Hayes will be sent packing when Doc returns. The Freebirds are one of the greatest tag teams of all time, and Hayes believes if they capture the ART of ALLEGIANCE Championships, they will be forced to sign him to a long term deal.
Second Shot Tournament ART World Championship Eddie Guerrero versus Ron Simmons Rey Mysterio, Jr. versus Rick Martel Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat versus Chavo Guerrero, Jr. Chris Jericho versus Christopher Daniels Eight men will compete in a one night tournament to crown the new ART World Championship. All of them have been to the precipice before, but winning three matches in one night to become champion is a whole different story. Ron Simmons and Chavo Guerrero, Jr. represent the Rock Solid Foundation. They have a 1-in-4 chance of winning if they can get past Eddie Guerrero and Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat if they want to do that. Mysterio chooses to try and get revenge against Rick Martel who took the title from him in the past. Chris Jericho and Christopher Daniels both established themselves with other titles before becoming World Champion. Who will walk out with the title?

He puts Rey in the Torture Rack until RICKY STEAMBOAT runs down to the ring with a chair making the save. Steamboat holds Mysterio’s hand up acknowledging the new champion. Whether this means stripped of the Evolution-6 Championship, suspended, or more strong action remains to be seen.

Evenflow CARD
Evolution-6 Championship Match Rey Mysterio, Jr. © versus Chris Jericho versus Christopher Daniels versus Dean Malenko versus Ultimo Dragon versus Yoshiro Tajiri Rey Mysterio, Jr. has been one of the most exciting Evolution-6 Champions in recent memory. He now gets ready to defend against five top challengers. Chris Jericho is determined to gain traction as a singles star, but he failed to beat Christopher Daniels on International when the match went to a time limit draw. Dean Malenko is also an accomplished Evolution-6 Champion. Will Ultimo Dragon and Tajiri try to work together to take out the competition?
Women’s Championship Match Mariko Yoshida © versus Bull Nakano Bull Nakano has been on a violent path of destruction since losing the Women’s Championship. Nakano HAS been in matches to try and get the title back, but every time, Yoshida has managed to retain it without pinning the monster. Now, the two women will go head to head in a singles match. Can Yoshida stay at the top of the mountain, or will Nakano get HER title back?
ART of ALLEGIANCE Championship Match Special Referee: Michael Hayes Miracle Violence Connection © versus The Suicide Blondes Michael Hayes wanted more than anything to reunite The Fabulous Freebirds, but objectively, Miracle Violence Connection is simply a better team. Trios Match Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat, Cactus Jack, and Terry Funk versus Totality [ITV Champ Curt Hennig, Dustin Rhodes, and Tonga] w/Rick Rude Totality has taken every short cut in the book in their ascent to total domination. Ricky Steamboat and Cactus Jack have frequently been their victims. They recruited Cactus Jack’s longtime best friend, Terry Funk to join the ranks. Totality has already proven they will take every short cut in the book to stay on top. Can Steamboat, Jack, and Funk get past them anyways?
ART World Championship Lex Luger © versus Eddie Guerrero When Lex Luger won the Evolution-6, International Television, AND ART World Championships before the end of Next Top Contender, he was given the right to choose his opponent for Evenflow. After a dispute between his teammates, Rhodes and Hennig, Luger hung a contract high above the ring. However, he did not specify that only those two could attempt to take it. Eddie Guerrero captured the contract and will now challenge the champion, Lex Luger. Some may not remember that Eddie Guerrero is one of the greatest ART World Champions of all time, holding the title for 22 months, defending it 107. Can Luger overcome one of the GOATS?

#ART99 🤯's Power 10: 1.) Lex Luger as the SOLID GOLD MAN holding every men's singles title in the promotion. A little sad he was never tag team champions by himself. Also, since he did call out Bull Nakano, a little sad we didn't get a fun little showdown between Lex and Bull or the women's champ whatsherface. 2.) Ivory as the female Jeff Jarrett... so, like, an annoying Shania Twain? Disappointed her musical debut didn't make the PPV proper at Evenflow though. If you don't bring Double J in to help manage Ivory, or ever drop the female Double J schtick, might I suggest repackaging Moretti & Miceli as the Hot MAMAlukes? 3.) Michael Hayes' love triangle with Terry Gordy and Dr. Death. 4.) Road Warrior Animal getting a random singles push with a brief reign as ITV Champ. 5.) The concept of Totality as a stable. Assuming a massive Hennig face turn is coming. 6.) The concept of Rock Solid Foundation as a stable. 7.) The randomness of Scotty Riggs' push. 8.) The randomness of Chavo Guerrero, Jr.'s push. 9.) The randomness of Rick Martel's push... at least in 1999. 10.) From everything presented to us so far, Cactus Jack & Terry Funk vs. The Hardy Boyz from July 1999 Week 1 might be the match I'd most want to actually see.

Does this mean Rock is Evolution-6 Champ now, as it seems champion's titles are always on the line when they wrestle?
Also, was not expecting Austin to still be Stunning in 1999. But more surprised Pillman's corpse has been reanimated.
A handful of really intriguing matchups. Eddie & Rey vs. Edge & Christian and Rock vs. Rey (of course) most caught my eye. Runners-up were the four-way giving me a glimpse of Cactus/Funk vs. MVC and Cactus/Funk vs. 2CS & DDP.
