I don't know. TakeOvers usually brings out the very best in everyone that's involved.

Perhaps Mia will have a truly breakout moment similar to that of Becky Lynch at Unstoppable.

I mean that might be possible but while Mia hasn't had any takeover matches, she's had plenty of MYC matches from which we can draw from. All of those were mediocre , and in one of them she was outshined by somoene who hadn't wrestled regularly in 4+ years.

Overall pretty good ( Io is a really good base) but I do hope Io adds some more stuff to her heel offense.

Another great squash match performance from Bianca. I really wish she was being given something of more substance to do.

I really wish they had let Io get pinfall/submission victory over Kacy instead of winning by dq, but I guess the way she dominated her before Candice came in was good enough.

The Mia stuff would have been better if they had established Mia as more an anti-hero willing to be more morally gray in her actions beforehand.

She's done the moonsault in a house show match before, but neither move in a tv match to the best of my knowledge.

Nah, this was a good development, easily the most interesting Mia's ever come across. surrender summed up her character perfectly earlier where she seems inauthentic and forced 95% of the time.

Yeah you're right but I think all of the things we've brought up can be true simultaneously. Mia does seem forced, this is good character development and she did come across as a heel. Although I do think without knowing the rest of the build-up to Summer Slam Baszler could easily put Yim back in the sympathetic babyface role by saying something along the lines of this. Oh, you must think you're smart by taking out my team but I knew that you'd do that because you're a thug but I'll show you real violence when I snap you in half.

I'm pleasantly surprised to be proved wrong here! Really looking forward to seeing Io's entrance in a big arena. 

Mia was back to being pretty unlikable again this week. Her gangsta thing is just so fake and forced and for the first time ever I'll actually be supporting Shayna.

The only issue I have is that it feels like Io needs to win this match to regain some credibility ( she hasn't won a singles match since getting on NXT tv), but if Shayna is retaining then it feels like Candice has to win otherwise there is no one really available to push unless they want to fast track Tegan.

If I had to predict I'd say Io wins at Takeover via some nefarious means and then they have a rematch at the tapings (maybe no-dq or something) which Candice wins. Agree that it's unclear who Shayna's next feud is with - although the next Takeover isn't until the end of November, so they'll probably have Jessamyn & Marina "return" and cost Mia the match and extend that out for a bit as well.

I’m still holding out for another tournament. Remember Wesna and Amale Winchester were unofficially “announced” a few months ago and Amale is on her way to the US soon.

I hope the Saudis didn't force WWE to put the kabosh on that, or Evolution.

Hopefully! I just thought the signs weren't great as we haven't heard any official announcement by now considering last year's was held around this time.

What a match. I feel sorry for Mia/Shayna.

Io needs to be at the top of the division, preferably with a lengthy title reign. Just think of the matches she could have with Dakota, Tegan, Deonna, Lacey, and even Candice again.

Yeah, that was an enjoyable match.

It started off a bit slow, but man when things finally clicked, both Io Shirai and Candice LeRae tore it down.

Mia Yim is not very good. A shame because I thought she had quite a bit of potential starting out but never lived up to it, and I doubt she ever will.

Please give the NXT women a secondary title so Io can keep putting on show-stealing matches on takeovers, so I can ignore Shayna's boring reign that has taken up the last 1.5 years of the NXT women's division.

The fact is Shayna's matches just don't work unless she ahs someone who has exciting offense to make up for the tedium of her style.

The io/candace match was great, and I think mostly because of Io. Her personality and heel character was on point, and her fierceness through the match matched exactly that.

I appreciated they had a good match, but I would have been fine with io just beating candace non stop for ten minutes.

Cool submission move from her.

If you look up boring in the dictionary you'll see a pix of Baszler next to it.

 Most of the Kairi vs Shayna takeover matches were good with Brooklyn being very good. 

The Io vs Shayna cage match was very good. 

The Fatal four way in April was really fun.

Shayna can have good matches it's just that she really, really needs the right opponents. The fact that she's been hogging the title scene for 1.5 years has not helped matters though. I agree that the reign needs to end sooner rather than later.
We should be getting matches on the same level as Io vs Candice on takeovers regularly with he talent NXT currently has signed.  


  

While I didn't want Mia to necessarily win the title, I wanted it off Shayna. Similar to how I feel about Toni/Ray. END THE PAIN! - which feels like the slogan at the end of every Takeover.

See I don't mind Toni Storm having a long title reign, at least unlike Shayna Baszler, Toni Storm is actually entertaining to watch, and as far as I'm concerned the best female talent on the UK brand.

Io vs Candice was absolutely fantastic - the best WWE match this year. Some of Io's execution is just mindbogglingly good. I loved the ending with her winning with a submission - perfect storytelling as part of her heel turn, the idea that she needs to be more ruthless to succeed. While what Nazzer said is true, the match did end up being largely about her, I think Candice showed off well too and showed that while people are a bit cooler on the current roster, it's really just been a lack of opportunities for a lot of them.

I agree with Dex in that Shayna needs the right sort of opponent - but for me it's more about the emotional investment than the actual match quality, as despite this being her weakest Takeover match yet, Baszler still put on a really good performance. She really sold her arm injury very well the whole way through the match and the finish with her able to tap Mia with just her legs was clever. But I just don't care about Mia in remotely the same way I did about Kairi, and I think the lack of heat from the crowd during large portions suggests that I'm not the only one.

The suicide dive into the powerbomb to the outside attempt was just one small thing I really noticed. Really impressive. 

About your underutilized talent point, I hope that if they're dead-set on continuing this Shayna reign into the end of time, I hope they do more mutil person match defenses  It would make her reign more bearable for me at least as not only would it allow for more than two women to get a takeover match ( we aren't getting two matches on a regular basis any time soon imo), but it would also freshen up Shayna's typical match format by including other women who are more able to increase the spectacle of the match with flashier offense on each-other while Shayna sneaks away with the win. 

If we get more singles match defense for Shayna I hope at least that some day she decides to work over another body part other than the arm some day. 

Yep I think that would be a good idea. They could have easily incorporated Bianca into this match (rather than just have her lose to Mia twice) and probably ended up with a better result. I think the involvement of someone else would have covered up the issues telling the story of Mia bending the rules to level the playing field. As people were pointing out on Wreddit, that was a nice idea but Mia's a long way from Eddie Guerrero so it didn't really land.
