THE SHOW
Everyone, welcome to Showdown. A national promotion that features a collection of some of the best wrestlers around the globe. Tonight’s event will be broadcast live on Showtime in front of a sold out crowd at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Tonight’s main event is a highly anticipated FIGHT that is years in the making. The time for talking is over. After years of disparaging words against each other, Bret Hart and Triple H will finally settle their differences in the ring. No rules. No restrictions.It will be NO. HOLDS. BARRED. Bret Hart has made it well known what he really thinks of HHH. In interviews over the years, he referred to HHH as a mediocre wrestler who never had a great match in his life. The definition of a 4/10 wrestler. Triple H for the most part did not have a rebuttal. However, when both talents were signed to Showdown, things escalated. Bret was asked on his debut night who he is most excited about getting in the ring with and made zero mention of Triple H. When asked a follow up question about his thoughts on Triple H signing, Bret scoffed and began belittling him once again. Bret said a match between the two would be a waste of his talents and quite frankly, he doesn’t think the fans want to see that match. Once the interview wrapped and the show was over, Triple H attacked The Hitman from behind while he was leaving the arena. He left him bloody and battered using his signature sledgehammer. The truth is, Triple H heard every insult Bret said to him over the years. He let that anger build up until he finally had the right opportunity. The Cerebral Assassin has returned and he is looking to end the career of Bret “The Hitman'' Hart.
In the Co-Main Event, the World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line as we determine who is the PERFECT athlete when Kurt Angle and Mr. Perfect go one on one for the first time ever. This feud began when Mr. Perfect ran a series of vignettes claiming to be the perfect athlete in wrestling. These vignettes included winning the 100 meter race while running backwards, lapping “Michael Phelps” while swimming backstroke to win the 100 meter butterfly, and in the grand finale, he defeated the Russian wrestling champion with one arm tied around his back. The World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle took serious issue with this. Kurt would go on to call Mr. Perfect a phony, a poser, and said there is only one real Olympic champion in wrestling and that is himself. Not only did he win a gold medal with a broken freakin neck but he is holding the top gold in the company. He says that Perfect’s videos make a mockery of every athlete that’s competed in the Olympics. Perfect responded by hosting his own ceremony where he’d receive his gold metals and be crowned “The Perfect Athlete.” Kurt Angle would disrupt these proceedings and deliver an Angle Slam from the podium to the ring. After these events, Showdown officials would make the match official. Kurt Angle vs Mr. Perfect for the World Heavyweight Championship to prove who is the “perfect athlete”.
Also, we will find out if money can buy happiness when The Million Dollar Corporation takes on The New Day in a 6 man tag team extravaganza and if The New Day loses, they will be forced to join the Million Dollar Corporation. In an effort to expand his power and dominance on Showdown Wrestling, Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase has begun building his own super group dubbed The Million Dollar Corporation or MDC for short. First, he brought his old friends, IRS and Bam Bam Bigelow, into the fold. Then he revealed he would be scouting other wrestling talent to bring aboard his growing stable. Meanwhile, the Tag Team Champs, The New Day, have been dominating the competition for over 5 years now. This caught the attention of the Million Dollar Man and he approached the group with a lucrative offer to join his faction. New Day was flattered but politely declined the offer. Over the course of the following weeks, we’d see New Day members mysteriously attacked backstage and huge amounts of money placed in their lockers in an attempt to threaten/persuade them into joining The Million Dollar Corporation. Most members of the New Day were adamant on not joining, especially after the attacks but Big E began to argue that maybe they should hear Ted out. The next week, after the MDC was celebrating a victory in the ring, New Day, without Big E who was suspiciously absent, interrupted the celebration by throwing Ted’s cash at them from the ramp into the ring. New Day proclaimed they would NEVER join his group. Ted noticed Big E’s absence and made a proposal. If New Day can beat the Million Dollar Corporation in a 6 man tag team match, the pursuits and harassments will end. If New Day loses, they must join the MDC. The New Day agreed to this match but without Big E with them, one must wonder where his true allegiances align and whether or not he’s already made a deal with Ted DiBiase. What we do know is when everything is settled, we will find out if Money can indeed buy Happiness.
The next featured match will highlight the highflying styles of Rob Van Dam and PAC as the Intercontinental Championship is on the line in a LADDER MATCH. This is a battle of similar styles but different attitudes. Referred to endearingly as “The Bastard”, PAC is a no-nonsense intense individual. He is hell bent on destroying his opponents and being a champion. On the other hand, you have RVD who is calm, laid back, and at times lackadaisical in his approach. Despite their differences in personality, both share a similar high impact, high flying wrestling style. Intercontinental Champion RVD’s laid back personality has gotten under the skin of PAC. PAC believes that as champion, RVD should take the role of champion more seriously. He says RVD’s attitude is an embarrassment to the championship and all champions that come before him. PAC is determined to take the title off of RVD and represent the belt with dignity and pride. When their IC match during one of the TV tapings ended in a double count out, Showdown officials decided to raise the stakes and truly showcase their high flying abilities by making the rematch a ladder match! RVD vows that while he may seem calm, he is more focused than ever. PAC guarantees victory and that Showdown will have a champion they can be proud of.
The remaining official matches for this event includes The Rhodes Brothers (Cody and Dustin Rhodes) vs Arn Anerson and Tully Blanchard in what is guaranteed to have an old school feel, the veteran Christian taking on fan favorite “Hangman” Adam Page, and the opening bout which will see Cesaro take on Keith Lee in his returning match.

It's become one of the most confusing titles in wrestling. The TV Title is on the line in a triple threat match between Apollo Crews, Samoa Joe, and Joe Doering. It all started at Tried & True when the the TV Champion Apollo Crews was set to take on Eric Young. But Young lost a loser leave town match 2 night before leave Crews with out an opponent. Crews issued a challenge to anyone in the back. The challenge was answered by Eric Young's Violent By Design partner Joe Doering. Who went on to win the match and the TV Title. Crews protested the match and threatened legal action stating it was a non title. While the match was under protest Doering lost the TV Title to Samoa Joe. The executive committee has held up the title and a new TV Champion will be crowned in New Orleans.
