My body has always been ready for the digital future. It has been so long since I went to the store specifically for a game. I've been using Gamefly forever. Pick random games, get em beat em and send them back. Sadly as I've slowly gamed less and less, paying full price on eshop might actually be a wash at worst. When GF didn't have it or their copy was busted I end up buying them online anyway. People don't gift me games and since I don't collect it really makes zero sense that I still even deal with physical media.
Comics I've read online for damn near two decades. As an anime fan I probably embraced watching tv/movies outside of a tv sooner than most.
For whatever reason I can't fully get on board with PC gaming. Even with Sony opening up their IPs to get paid, I doubt Nintendo will ever get down with that so I'll always be forced to buy them, even if I'm super casual about it. I'm on my laptop so much that I like having vidya on a tv, it feels like "time away" if that makes sense. Clearly too much money to be made that way, but what a future where Steam is just ... IT. Vidya is on pcs now. DEAL WITH IT. Would you still be a gamer?
Digital is coming. Like not going to a self check out in protest... there's no stopping this freight train.

I do so prefer physical, I'm the fogey fighting back the tide of digital with all my might, I cave on things that are just too damn expensive, or cheap enough to give 'em a test ride before I buy in, but try to get physical whenever financially feasible (though honestly, I have gone ridiculously out of a pocket a couple times when I just HAD to have one).
I plan on passing peacefully in the night...after a mountain of my belongings has careened down on top of me.

My sticking point with physical actually comes down to an issue with Playstation, there was a point where they charged my account for PS+ and I got it refunded back by the bank, at which point they ended my PS+ and froze my account. The ending PS+, DUH, but I went to play a digital game I OWNED, and it had locked me out; wouldn't give me access back until I got another month of PS+. They literally stole my property until I paid them back the money I got refunded for the charge I wasn't supposed to have.
From then, I view digital more like indefinite borrowing. PS3 store nearly going down shows another big issue, when the servers are gone, you got what you got.

I'm with RagnarokMike, as I much prefer physical copies of games, admittedly there are a few exceptions, but the majority of games I physically own. As long as I can still go into a store and buy the game, I honestly don't see that changing. Main reason, I'm against going digital, is stuff like what is currently happening with the Switch and the error message people are getting, when downloading/installing games from the eshop. I've been having those problems myselr, with downloading/installing Knockout City.

I am totally against console digital as the second they end support for the console the store is closed and your games are vaperware unless you have them downloaded or backedup somewhere.
PC I am totally into it, as Steam proven itself and is going on 20 years running. Also steam sales allow you play the patient gamer, and wait a year after a game's release to snag it for 75% off.
As console game prices continue to creep up, I am pretty much going exclusively into PC gaming. 70 bucks a game is where I draw the final breaking point.

I'm with you guys in your server concerns. As someone that pretty much only plays to completion and never returns, it's less of an issue for me. That and eshops not being refund friendly is sus.
Still since I only play a handful of games in a year I see no reason not to. Price point, especially on Nintendo's side, needs to reflect it though. I understand paying for the server, but even if the plastic is cheap (esp. since no book) it should not cost the same to buy digital as physical. And six months later it should not be MSRP still.

I mostly get physical for switch due to hard drive space, other than that.. digital all the way. On the rare occasion I get a physical game i barely play as I don’t want to get up and change disc 😂.
I keep seeing guys say they want physical so they can show people their collections, but I’m a 30 year old guy…I’m not impressing anyone with my game collection.

I would be all for physical copies, if purchasing them didn't require 40gb update the day of release anyway.
As a casual gamer this is the most frustrating part, firing up a game only to not be able to play it for a couple of hours.

I think once they stopped printing manuals with games there just wasn't a reason to get physical unless you're a Youtuber who wants to show off their wall of game collections.
