Funny thing is, at one point I was seriously considering buying this card...but then this mess happened well and the NXT show is on tonight and I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more amped for that.

I feel like I just watched Hogan/Warrior II.
What was Jackson doing on top seriously? I'm with Joe, Dana just worked the boys.

The whole matchup was just ridiculous, I was cool with Punk fighting in the UFC at first but after that first fight it was clear what was going on, he looks like a guy who has never trained before. If he did train whoever was training him for these fights should be ashamed of themselves.

But in Punk's defense he did go in there and take a beating, a lot of people probably would have quit after that second round(looked like his nose was broke), got to give him some respect, you got guys like Joe Rogan that never had the cahones to get in there giggling about it all like a little school girl on commentary so I mean c'mon, also going through that whole trial business is a lot of horseshit to deal with the week of a UFC fight, I don't care who you are shit like that is going to derail you mentally going into a fight a week out(but even without the trial going on from what I've seen I doubt he would have done much better).

I think Punk should just go back to doing what he does best.
Don't even think of trying Bellator.

I can't help but feel like this whole move was done out of petulance. What's the best way at getting back at the WWE? Joining TNA? Joining ROH? Joining NJPW? Bzzzt, UFC is WWE's main source of competition and when Punk joined they were kicking Vince's ass.
If Punk had any respect for the sport, he wouldn't have put himself that high on the pedestal. Surely he would have known he wasn't ready and if he wanted to ply his trade he would have been more sensible. As much as I was rooting for Punk, you reap what you sow.

I’m seeing what you mean now about Rogan’s attitude toward MMA, Punk’s got two more fights under his belt than he has. I like his podcasts but i just skip over MMA stuff or whenever WWE is mentioned. Punk’s All In in September would be my guess though. Unless he has the financials to retire which I wouldn’t doubt.

CM Punk the mixed martial artist was always an atrocious idea. He has the drive but nothing else. He is not athletically gifted, even compared to your average person, let alone top athletes. Timing, coordination, explosiveness, he has none of that. Plus, as far as I know, he had done minimal-to-no fighting/martial arts training while growing up and maybe even up until he signed with the UFC. Then add in that this untrained, naturally unathletic guy was in his mid-30s when he really started training and his body was a banged-up mess from 15 years of pro wrestling. Made some very good money though.

Dana's turned on Jackson for showing Punk some mercy. The entire thing is either a bad joke, or Dana worked the hell out of Punk for a bit of hype and publicity, again.

I heard there was rumours the fight was fixed, so maybe White wanted that squashed with a decisive victory? White criticised him for showboating during the match, maybe he’s better off in the WWE as well.

There is a big MMA event going on about an hour down the road Saturday night, I didn't hear about it until yesterday(first show around here I've heard about in a long time, probably 2011). Honestly I'm really thinking about digging my gear out of the attic and going to the weigh ins tomorrow night. Those kinds of shows always got people not showing up or dropping out at the last minute, it used to be a rule at the MMA gym I train at that whenever we would go to a show you had to bring your gear just in case. And those would always be the best fights when you haven't had weeks to psyche yourself out about it, just go in there and leave it all in the ring. I haven't done any fight training in a long time but I'm in phenomenal physical shape right now, best shape I've been in probably 10 years. Oh how I would love just 1 last final scrap to get it all out of my system and close the book on it all properly once and for all. Somebody talk me out of this.

If you think you’ll be ok I say go for it. I know you mentioned some head issues in the past due to fighting but if it’s been a long time and your brain has recovered then maybe giving it one last go to get it out of your system isn’t a bad idea.

Well i called the gym that is promoting the show on thursday and they hooked me up with the matchmaker booking the show. We had a pretty good little chat, apparently they are going to start running shows around here on a regular basis and they got connections with LFA and Bellator(told me about some of their fighters that went on to fight for them but i didnt recognize their names). Said they could get me on the card but my little brother talked me out of it, pretty much refused to let me do it. Word spread around and everybody is fires up about me fighting again but i got to listen to my bro the voice of reason, if were going to do it one more time were going to do it right. We did get set up with ringside vip table for the show tonight and im going to start getting ready next week to go train at one of the local gyms. I really got that fire burning again and i got a strong feeling that im going to regret not fighting as im watching the show tonight. But its on though, i got to do it just 1 more time to get it out of my system and finally move on with my life. I just cant imagine the feeling of being back in a cage after all ive been through over the last 10 years, thats going to really be something

Just got back from the show, had a pretty good time. Promotion itself is a bit on the Mickey Mouse side compared to the orgs I fought for back in the day, really didn't like the way they had the VIP tables up on the stage away from the ring like they did those are usually up ringside the closest seats in the house for these shows.
As far as the fights I was somewhat disappointed since they advertised 20 fights, then dropped it down to 17 fights on their website but there were only 12 fights tonight. Nobody on the card weighed over 145 pounds and nobody on the card had more than 6 fights experience, most everyone was 0-0 or 1-0 or something like that. But man these kids came in from all over Texas and they brought it, for being as young as they all were and inexperienced as they were I was really impressed with the skill level, some really good action tonight like a good old school WEC card or something, a pretty wicked flying knee knockout and a few other decent barnburners.
I was disappointed that I didn't get to scout out any fighters in my weight class and can see now why they were so eager to help me do whatever we had to do to get me on the card(I'm up to 180, fucking jacked). I do kinda wish I would have went ahead and fought though, it was a beautiful night for an outdoor MMA show under the Texas stars and the crowd was hot(not temperature, I mean it was pretty warm but I'm talking like pro wrestling "hot crowd") popping for everything, I should have just snuck off without telling anybody and just did it, there would have been no pressure it would have been perfect. It was probably a smart move though, these kids coming up today are pretty fucking good. I'm going to have to hookup with a gym to properly train for at least a few weeks. Starting Holyfield and Fight Gone Bad circuits next week at the football field, Monday afternoon it's on.

Rashad Evans has announced his retirement today. I really hope he's done but I get the awful feeling he'll wind up in Bellator in 6 months time.
That 226 card is so ridiculously good looking, please nobody pulls out or misses weight

I just watched the post-match promo ...
That’s the best baby face/heel confrontation I’ve seen in years.
MMA really is the new pro wrestling.

I loved it. DC moves up and fights the heavyweight champ something Jones never had the balls to do, finally wins the championship after falling short his whole life, legitimizing himself as LHW champ after getting no respect for winning a belt Jones pissed away, and decisively steals Jones big money fight against Brock from him in the process. Poetic shit right there. Fuck a Jon Jones

The whole Brock thing played out perfectly, the way he walked into the building after that abysmal heavyweight co-main event was like some shit out of a movie.

I lost $50 on the fight as my picked my fellow first responder Miocic to win the fight against the brother in law. Technically, he owes me $10 because I only had $20s and I gave him 3 of them but that’s not the point.
Super impressed but DC and I’m all for DC/Brock. I can’t wait for that. Hopefully we get an awesome co main event for that. Would love to see a Diaz return or GSP.

Eddie Alvarez costs himself another potential victory against Poirier, has him in a dominant position, at worst, probably finishing the round with a substantial score...throws a 12-6 elbow, gets stood up, and Dustin tees off on him for the victory. Two rookie mistakes in a row against the same contender.

I missed this show last night, had I known Aldo was fighting I probably would have tried harder to catch it, one of the greatest of all time should have been main event, glad to see him back crushing fools.
Poirier climbing his way closer and closer to a title shot, definitely pulling for him to win it proving this whole fight scene down here that he came from back in the day was the real fucking deal.
The Karate Combat that they just put on Fight Pass is really awesome, I caught one of the fights on there a few days ago and was really impressed with the whole package. I'm watching the show from Greece yesterday right now.
Seriously digging this shit.

Oh my god yes this Karate Combat show is excellent. Bas on commentary, OUTSTANDING setting in this arena in Athens Greece, excellent presentation, lighting, aesthetics, feel, atmosphere, and I really love the rules, no submissions but takedowns are allowed(no double legs or suplexes though) and you get a short period of time to fight on the ground(5 seconds), limited clinching, the "PIT" they fight in makes it really interesting as far as footwork and working the outside. Edit: just finished this show and it was phenomenal, every fight was a finish except the main event which ended with dude breaking his shin on an inside leg kick, too bad because that was going to be a great fight. I'm a big fan of this, need to check out the other shows they did I heard them say the first show was this past April.

Two huge fights announced today.
Diaz vs Poirier & McGregor vs Khabib
I’m picking Diaz and McGregor to win and giving us Diaz/McGregor 3, because that’s what the fans want!
