How is Juvie more dangerous than Gage if this at all makes sense? Is Juvi going to be paid in marijuana? He's the guy Konnan & Sean Waltman & AEW's Jack Evans beat the shit out of in Mexico
And I cant wait for Cornette's reaction to that main event match.

I... uh, I'm not sure how to react.
Surely a 46 year old Juventud Guerrera's still got it if they want him to top this deathmatch?
I mean he kinda has to outdo tonight's fight.

Teddy Hart would have been more dangerous but getting him means buh bye CM Punk. Hart's a legit nutjob but a great high flyer.

He will comment how long it took Jericho to blade from the pizza cutter, how poor of a reaction Nick Gage got, how outlaw Nick Gage looks, and watch the rest on ff or turn it off. Ask Brian what he missed.

Alright I've caught up with my slow as fuck internet and here are my thoughts:
-GO ACE -Hangman & Dark Order losing crushed me. No idea where they go from here. -Darby Allin straight up calling out CM Punk. Aug 20th. Book it. -GO ACE -giving Jungle Boy/Jurassic Express the Tarzan Boy theme was genius. The crowd loves it. -MENG -GO ACE -EVERYBODY DIES -GO ACE -Thunder Rosa is amazing and I love her. -Ricky Starks is The Rock 2.0. Mark my words. -GO ACE -Cash's busted arm sucks. -I was right about Nick Gage. -GOOOOOO AAAAACE

Oh and if you're confused why Chris Jericho is fighting Juvi...this has "Chris Jericho Retirement Tour" written all over it. Or at the very least, he's going away for a while after his match with MJF.
Deathmatch on TV, Juvi, then what? Submission match against Lance Storm? If Dean Malenko was still able to wrestle I bet he'd be out there too somehow.
Think they bring over Naito for labour 4 or 5?
This reeks of Jericho putting over MJF then disappearing for a bit.

I am guessing labor 4 is submission match with American Dragon then five is Punk. They mentioned Punk signing made them change their timeline and swap up a major angle and move things up, and this seems to fit that bill perfectly. Also allows them to hype the guys and create buzz. Both matches make great introductions to the company as well, as they do a match then can start an angle, rather than doing the awkward hey I am here, or I am gonna start a feud with this random dude in a company I do not work for.

The fifth labour is the match with MJF - he said as much. I think RT has nailed it with the prediction of Lance Storm as #4 though. Two clear references to Punk tonight so if anyone still doubted that he was showing up. That United Center pop is just going to be unreal. I think Darby Allin is a great, and really interesting, first up opponent for him.

Before COVID he was in town here and did a match with one of our local best. It was INSANE. One of the best matches I've EVER seen period but I legit swore one of them was going to die. One thing I'll always say about Jericho is he always puts over younger and new talent. I haven't watched a lot of AEW, but I doubt that has changed.

He's too good of a high flyer but his ego is so big it destroys everything else. He's Ricochet with extra baggage and should have been as big as Ospreay. He might be in jail or awaiting to go to jail for domestic abuse I think.

Tony Khan is really playing with fire with TNT. Khan must really think TNT needs AEW more than the other way around. The issue was not putting TV-MA for this episode of Dynamite vs the TV-14.

Really enjoyed the main event and the spectacle of it but one minor complaint, why the fuck did Gage go for a cover after the falcon arrow?! It made no sense given his character and what MJF wanted. Everything else though was great. Jericho is one game fucker, he took so much shit and made Gage look good too. MJF is money on the mic. Enjoying the labour storyline and can’t wait to see Juvi in the ring again. So random but it’s gonna be a lot of fun! That’s one thing I’m enjoying about AEW, it’s just so random and out there rather than WWE’s forced surprises like Goldberg returning (meh).

Wasn't expecting Hangman Page and Dark Order to lose that match, but would have been even worse for Hangman to beat Kenny and the Bucks by himself, so good call there. Pretty intrigued to see where they take that angle.

Pretty intrigued to see where they take that angle. I was curious how they would have Omega take a fall before actually losing the title. I thought they'd do something crazy like The Dark Order swarming him and holding him out of the ring so they all get counted out or something, then Page beats the Bucks to get to Omega. Now I have no idea. What was the stip again? Page gives up his title shot if they lose? So does Omega get over confident and give him his shot anyway? I'm intrigued at least.

I suppose I ought to offer my opinion on the Gage/Jericho match. Surprise surprise, I didn't like it. But giving credit where credit is due, it was pretty entertaining and delivered on the violence right from the start. But it was impossible to get invested in the action as Jericho winning is a foregone conclusion. One of many reasons why this Labours of Jericho is dumb. He's obviously going to win all the matches, so there's no drama whatsoever. But I suppose it does work as a vehicle for all these surprise appearances which may draw some fans, blah blah blah.

I hear you and in the plain light of day watching an out of shape Jericho win all these matches just to get a match with MJF who had the audacity to push him into a crash-pad really isn't that compelling.
However from a pure bookers perspective it's just a way to add some flavour to a bunch of Jericho matches while giving guys like Spears, Gage and Guerrera exposure they wouldn't have.
If you were paying Jericho a certain amount of money, you would want to use him as much as possible especially if the end game is that he's going to help young talent like MJF and Sammy Guevara. Whether Jericho is as good as he once was doesn't really matter because he's still one of the more recognisable names and he draws a lot of interest to your product.

Tony Khan is really playing with fire with TNT. Khan must really think TNT needs AEW more than the other way around. The issue was not putting TV-MA for this episode of Dynamite vs the TV-14. This is one of those instances where it's better to ask forgiveness than permission, because TNT would *never* allow a light tubes and pizza cutter deathmatch on its network if you came to them first to check to see if it were okay. It may not have been a decision made out of hubris; Khan may well have known he'd get chewed out the next day but figured it'd be worth it. Really enjoyed the main event and the spectacle of it but one minor complaint, why the fuck did Gage go for a cover after the falcon arrow?! It made no sense given his character and what MJF wanted. That’s one thing I’m enjoying about AEW, it’s just so random and out there rather than WWE’s forced surprises like Goldberg returning (meh). Won't get your money if you don't win. (also a helluva way to bring Nick back in for a second match) I suppose I ought to offer my opinion on the Gage/Jericho match. Surprise surprise, I didn't like it. But giving credit where credit is due, it was pretty entertaining and delivered on the violence right from the start. Sometimes it's about the journey, not the destination. Like when Heyman turned on Lesnar for Angle, and Brock had to go through the gauntlet to get to the main event of Wrestlemania. Dude's obviously winning, just enjoy the ride. In this case Jericho is obviously going to beat Gage (else the storyline ends at Labor #2) but with him fighting a wild deathmatch madman, the question isn't will Jericho win, but rather how will Jericho win and how will he survive this maniac?

In this case Jericho is obviously going to beat Gage (else the storyline ends at Labor #2) but with him fighting a wild deathmatch madman, the question isn't will Jericho win, but rather how will Jericho win and how will he survive this maniac? That isn't particularly compelling to me because it's Nick Gage. Yeah he's a deathmatch legend, but kayfabe wise he's no match for Jericho, not even in a deathmatch. Gage is a big fish in a small pond. Jericho is a bigger fish in a bigger pond. Yeah you know Jericho will get fucked up and bleed, and perhaps that's a draw to some people. But when the result is a foregone conclusion, it's hard to get invested. It's even more the case for Juventud Guerrera. Why is a way-past-his-prime luchador, who was a midcard phenom at best in his heyday, and as far as I know doesn't wrestle any more, be any kind of threat to Jericho? He wouldn't. Not interested. What a waste of a labour. At least Nick Gage makes sense in kayfabe because MJF would love to see Jericho get fucked up and bleed, even if Jericho wins in the end. Small victories. Juventud won't even give MJF that. Put someone like Brock Lesnar agaisnt Jericho, and even if you know Jericho wins, that's really compelling. Because Brock Lesnar is booked so strong, you genuinely wonder how Jericho could possibly win. Even taking a less extreme example, Jon Moxley. Moxley is a legitimate threat to Jericho. Juventud and Nick Gage certainly are not.
