I didn’t know who he was, so that wouldn’t be all that surprising.

For both the last two AEW shows I turned on the second half and subsequently missed almost anything I had interest in seeing. I get it for Rampage since it was a late show but the construction of the Dynamite show confused me, especially with the main event not being particularly good.

CM Punk vs Will Hobbs was a very solid opener. Sound psychology, good action, with a nice finish. It's not a classic but it's even more proof that CM Punk is back in the game and great in the ring.

Didn't pay attention to the midcard. Bunch of tag matches I'm not particularly invested in. I saw the entire UFC roster come down to beat on Hager and Jericho. Fair enough.

Anna Jay vs Penelope Ford was a non-match that existed to further this women's feud and also continue the Dark Orde angle.

Main event. I mean, it was fine. Decent enough brawl. But I wonder what the point of it all is? The whole segment just came across as fan service to New York. Mox and Kingston get annihilated, random inexplicable return from Homicide, allows Mox and Kingston to turn the match around and win. Whoop de doo. Everyone's happy, and New Jersey sucks! You could have substituted Archer and Suzuki for any two random guys and had the same match. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I had high hopes for the Suzuki/Moxley arc, sadly he appears to be another NJPW guy to feed to Moxley, just one who happens to be more recognisable than Kojima and Nagata.

Welp, I can get my Suzuki/Archer fix on the NJPW Strong shows.

Finally watched Rampage, it was a decent enough show I guess, though Dynamite was way better this week.

Not sure I understand the concept of a Lights Out match. I mean it's unsanctioned and not approved by Tony Khan right? Yet, he let's his camera crew record it, let's it air on TV during his time slot, etc... just seems like a stupid thing to do, for a match you don't approve of or for that matter, want happening in the first place.

Originally Lights Out matches were matches too violent for TV that would be done after the TV tapings, sometimes with no refs. The early American deathmatches in the south were done this way where instead of having refs and pins people just beat the shit out of each other until one team no longer could fight.

Basically were just no DQ anything goes matches.  Effect loses it's power the more matches you have that have no rules.  

Was wondering why no one was talking about Miro then I realize he didn't fight last night. Punk and Hobbs was good. Once again Adam Cole seems beyond the Bucks. And he isn't going to make them more popular with all the new eyes on the show. They will just drag him down.
