Some good games this weekend.

Florida/Minnesota Saturday afternoon is going to be a banger. Watch it if you can.

Toronto/Vancouver hate each other and that'll probably be a rough game.

Tampa/Colorado play each other as well. Ohh baby.

Of course half of Florida and Colorado have covid. Might not be the banger we hoped for.

Well I jinxed it. Florida and Colorado both had outbreaks and their games are postponed until the 26th.

League is shutting down until Dec 27th. Figured this was coming.

Crazy numbers: 45 games have been delayed due to COVID this year. 34 of those games were in the last 72 hours.

It's only an extra day of postponed games than before so a "shutdown" feels a bit over the top.

Bit of a shame about the Olympics though, I was looking forward to that.

Here’s the thing about the NHL: they make even the smallest gestures seem significant. By shutting down a day early they are essentially curing COVID.

I’m pissed too. Canada and USA had fucking stacked teams. And we are never going to get Crosby and McDavid on the same team ever. Absolutely gutted.

The World Juniors was just canceled.

The IIHF is a fucking joke. They lied about creating a bubble, stuck the kids in public hotels in fucking ALBERTA for two weeks, then are shocked when the tournament starts and an outbreak happens.

Now these poor kids are isolated half way around the world in stupid ass Edmonton for New Year’s. Like holy fuck.

On top of that, Brock Boeser and someone else on Vancouver just got stuck in COVID protocol. They won’t be traveling to Seattle with the team and it’s entirely possible more positive tests are coming. So look for that game to also be postponed.

We can’t keep living like this.

Glad they cancelled it. Would have been even more of a farce had they continued after canceling some games

Rangers now lead the league in points! I was a bit worried that the hiatus might cause lost momentum but if anything the last four games (all against quality opposition) has been the best stretch they've played so far.

Georgiev robbing McDavid with that huge save in the third period and the MSG crowd chanting his name is one of my favourite moments of the season. So glad he's been able to turn it around.

Absolutely agree. Best stretch for the Rangers. They are playing hard, smart, and dominate the ice, which they have lacked all season. A good recipe for playoff success.

I hope Lafreniere stays in the top six and gets double his ice time consistently. He has been very impressive and fun to watch. Definitely has the skills to be a top player in the league. He is playing with confidence, and deserves to finally play a larger role on this team.

Ooof just when we were feeling good they go and lay a real egg. Think that might be the last we see of Hajek again for a while, he was brutal tonight but far from the only one. Definitely a game that strengthens the case that a reliable defenseman is more of a priority than a middle six forward.

Typical Leafs choke job tonight. Blew the game after leading it 4-1.

Apparently the league is announcing more stuff about the schedule tomorrow. Wondering if some games will be made up in February since they don’t need to take the Olympic break anymore.

I think they've already stated that the Olympic period will be the time for the rescheduled games.

Since we were just talking about TOI in the predictions thought I'd add that I caught TB/LA tonight and Victor Hedman went 32 minutes partly because Tampa were down to four starting defensemen. He delivered with 2 goals and an assist as the Lightning semi-stole a pretty even game with the Kings that was really entertaining.

@admin Zappy don't worry about the Leafs going up early. It never ends well.

Great comeback by the Rangers after a pretty terrible opening 15 minutes or so. NYR have been great in close games this season, I think they're something like 13-0-2 in games that were level after two periods. 

This road trip has exposed all of Toronto's problems. They only have one goaltender, the defence outside of Rielly/Brodie fucking sucks, and they come out hot then gas themselves on offence which doesn't do the defence any favours.

Normally a team can go home and collect themselves after a trip like this but the Leafs are fucked because Canada is actually taking COVID seriously.

I dunno man. This sucks.

The Kraken may not be very good but man, they sure have heart. At least that rings true during the games I've watched.

Kreider in front of the net is just fucking unstoppable this season. Up to 30 goals now (15 on the PP) to lead the league in both.

I'm watching Montreal/Minnesota and it's fucking hilarious. It's like the Wild are playing a beer league team. I haven't seen any Montreal games other than when they played the Leafs early on and my god are they bad. Minnesota is just doing whatever they want. Shots were 30-8 at one point (30-15 now) but it's 4-1 Wild and they've literally spent the last 7 or 8 minutes just fucking around trying to keep possession and be fancy. They've passed it through Montreal players legs more than once in the time I've been watching. It's unreal.

Oh man is there anything better than OT hockey? Absolutely electric finish to LAK/NYR.
