It mimics those martial arts training things were people are attacked from sides.  The point is to show that Black is corrupting Cody to make him give up his values so he can win, which is Black's goal all along to drive Cody to do something awful so he can beat Black.

Never saw Cassidy pre-AEW but from the short clips I saw, the vibe I got was that he was actually a legit wrestler who did his lazy guy spots at the beginning just to play mind games with his opponent, not that he would actually spend the whole match working hard to do as little work as possible.

Like, he might do the shin kicks to get the other guy to lower his guard out of exasperation, then POW right in the kissa with a real superkick

Best way to see what Cassidy can do is to watch Fire Ant. Fire Ant was very serious wrestler. And yeah Cassidy evolved quite bit over the years as he figured out how to make the gimmick work.

Basically since his title match with Jericho he's been on another level. Not sure what he did or who trained him or what, but a switch flipped and he suddenly became one of the best dramatic wrestlers ever and started spitting fire promos.

Hangman always been good on the mic. He just did not really have a good story to work with in the past. His promos with the Dark Order have been great though.

Danielson is about to win the Championship Eliminator tournament so there's that.

Punk has been more and more vocal about MJF so I could see that feud starting after Full Gear.

- Black/Martin was a fun opener, albeit a tad sloppy at times.

- Punk still on commentary? There's too many cooks in this verbal kitchen.

- ATT angle = piss break.

- Las Super Ranas could have been the Ding Dongs of AEW; Another missed opportunity, tsk tsk. Rey's springboard double foot stamp spot was awesome.

- Not sure if "Where Is My Mind?" fits OC but I still love hearing the Pixies on a wrestling show. Something like "Hey" or "Here Comes Your Man" would have been a better choice imo.

- The Young Fucks are here and dressed to impress like your grandma's lampshade from the 70's. Dark Order is still a thing? I popped for Uno's socko spot though, not gonna lie. This match was more fun than I expected.

- Cody gets the slappppppp. This promo in general was one big lol moment.

- MJF/Wardlow/Sting promo was fun.

- TBS Title? Why do they need two titles for their weakest division? Why more corporate branding? JR, you can fuck up all the lines you want, you're still a legend, dammit.

- Fun women's match. Kiera Hogan has a good look and plenty of potential.

- I half-expected Hangman to say that he had lost his smile in that promo lol. I think the time is definitely now to give this man his push. That promo was definitely "cowboy shit".

- Fish versus the best wrestler in the world right now. Best match of the night but that finish fell just a little flat for me.

- Not a bad show here at all, lots to look forward to. I'm more hyped for Full Gear than I was before, so mission accomplished. Bracket is just a tad bit underwhelming though.

He's a fat face dipshit. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. Fish ages like fine wine. Not Christoper Daniels wine but still very good.

Just catching up with this show now in the usual timeslot! Why didn't they just move to TBS when the hockey season started?

I really liked Malachi vs Dante - AEW openers are the best match on the show like 85% of the time. Maybe I'm forgetting something but I think this was by far Black's best match in AEW so far? The part towards the end of the match with Malachi randomly holding his stomach was weird though - Punk tried to explain it by talking about him being "corrupted" by the Black Mist but who knows if there's an actual storyline there.

It's nice that there are finally multiple storylines happening in the women's division. Punk talking about Serena's hair was an lol moment. I wonder if we're going to get a Britt/Adam vs Anna/Jungle Boy match at some stage.

Danielson has been absolutely spot on since his debut. His stiff/submission style is a great addition to the roster as he really stands out. Personally the strong style stuff with Suzuki wasn't really my jam but in general I love what he's been doing. He's just a straight up ass kicker that can win matches with about four different moves.
